Fengyu looked at the exterior of Alexis's shop, taking note of every visible escape route. It wasn't that she expected trouble, the hunter just wanted to be ready for anything. After checking that her weapons were fully concealed, Fengyu stepped out of her rental car and walked into the shop.
The shop's interior was stylish, the latest fashions filled the room. The young woman plucked self-consciously at the right shoulder of her black pea coat, where she had stitched a knife slash closed. Fengyu didn't exactly fit in.
"Ms London," she called out looking for the shop keeper. "It's Fengyu Sen, we met at the park."

Alexis had finally snapped to a point that she felt like herself at long last. It was a relief to feel normal, but she was still struggling with all vampire urges-as well as a variety of new ones linked to Jon Brunner.
Cut your losses and be glad he didn't kill you. She repeated to herself. You don't need to look for further trouble.
She smelled the human before she heard her. When the girl called out, Alexis remembered her immediately. She'd met the girl the same time she'd met Brunner, and that made her slightly sick. But she might as well try and be friendly.
"Well, you were able to make it." Alexis smiled as she let herself out of the back room. "Out for some shopping?"

Fengyu turned to face Alexis as the woman entered the store proper.
"No, Ms London, I am strictly here on business. I brought a copy of the symbol I told you about in the park."
The hunter looked at the shopkeeper, noticing the woman did not look well.
"Are you ill? I come back another time if you like?"

Alexis pushed her long hair out of her face as the girl mentioned the symbol she'd brought along. She'd almost forgotten about that.
"Let me see. We'll compare it to some others and see if we can't find an origin."
She turned on a strong smile at the girl's words. Ah, if she only knew how exhausting things had been since their last meeting.
"It's been a very long week, Ms. Sen. Please, don't worry about it. It will be a nice change from my current business world."

Fengyu pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket, on it was a drawing: the head of a man with the horn's of a goat in the center of an inverted pentagram. The mark had been tattooed on the bodies of her families attacker's, but there was no way she could relate that to Alexis and still pretend to be working a simple missing person's case.
"This is the symbol I told you about. I am no expert in Western traditions, but I believe an inverted pentagram is usually related to Satanism. As for the rest, I am lost."
It was true, Fengyu and her family usually dealt with creatures of Eastern origin. None of her contacts had had any deep knowledge of Satanic cults. Her search had come to a standstill before she had met the two Westerners in the park.

Alexis took the paper out of Fengyu's hand and studied it. It was clearly a demonic symbol. She frowned.
"It is, yes. Satanic cults have construed it to make it their symbol over the years. As for the head........"
Alexis tried to recall what she knew about those. The horns were what threw her off. It had to be some type of...
"Those horns indicate some sort of demon." Alexis told her. "Or the Devil himself. The Devil is frequently shown as a man with horns. Chances are you're dealing with a group of Devil Worshippers. And you should not even try to approach them alone. Devil worshippers are extremely dangerous. They have no qualms about who they'll attack. I've tangled with them before."
Alexis left out the fact that she had killed most of the ones she'd encounter. It was a small detail the girl didn't need to know.

Fengyu tried not to conceal her disappointment, she had been hoping for a name, anything that would get her closer to finding her brother. So far Alexis hadn't told her anything any hunter would not know.
Still playing the run-of-mill private detective, Fengyu nodded. "Is there anything else you could tell me about these 'Devil worshipers?'"

Alexis considered the question. She'd actually done a great deal of research on devil worshippers. Mostly, it had been in preparation for the night she had rushed off to Staton Island to take out a few of their fellow men.
"I know a bit. I can help you. For that matter...."
Alexis broke off the statement. She had been about to offer that she could take the girl to Staton Island to investigate. But she couldn't do that without telling her what she was.

Fengyu puzzled over what Alexis had said for a moment, trying to understand why the older woman had added 'for that matter' to the end of the statement. Not quite getting it the Taiwanese woman decided to drop it, she would probably never fully understand English. She waited for Alexis to continue.

Alexis weighed her options. If she took the girl to Staton Island, she would have to kill to keep her safe. There was no doubt the girl would see it. On top of all of that, Alexis didn't want to put herself into a situation where she would have to kill-and even going to the location alone could bring her down.
But this girl seemed so desperate to locate her client. Alexis had long suspected it was more personal than the girl said. It could be done. The site could be investigated.
"There's a place on Stanton Island that's a popular hang out for Devil Worshippers." She told Fengyu. "I can go there and do some investigating for you."

Lenore was pissed, she had been in . . . wherever she was for at least a week, living off rodents. The vampire finally felt strong enough to break out of the room she was being held in. Standing against the wall opposite of the door, Lenore took of at a run, crashing into the door with all of her strength. She burst through it with a load crash, splinters embedded themselves into her right arm. The pain was bad enough for her to instinctively expose her fangs. After a moment, Lenore regained control of herself and began pulling the wood from her arm.

Alexis heard a sound from downstairs.
Sh!t She turned her eyes towards the noise.
"Excuse me a minute." She nodded to Fengyu.
Heading down the stairs, Alexis unlocked the door to the storage room.
"Well, I see you finally got your strength back." She told the other vampire.

Fengyu was startled when she hear a load crash coming from the shop's basement. She nodded when Alexis excused herself. Cautiously, the hunter listened from the top of the stairs.
"Well, I see you finally got your strength back."
Strength back? What did the shopkeeper have living in her basement?

Alexis asked herself again why she hadn't left the other vampire to fend for herself.
Because you couldn't let one of your own suffer.
She wondered if she had been developing compassion long before she'd met Jon Brunner. Alexis rolled her eyes. She didn't even know herself anymore.
"You're going to hurt yourself more." She lowered her voice as she stepped inside the room. "Calm down and let me see if I can do something."

Lenore pulled away from Alexis, going backwards a few steps until her back hit a wall. She glared at the other vampire, now fully able to sympathize with Sam Winchester's panic during their first encounter.
"Why the fuck should I trust you? You fed me to the wolves!"
