New York had been... interesting, to say the least. Alyssa never really socialised much when she travelled, except to perhaps let a nest know she was in town just to be polite. This time, however, she'd met Gardener, who was so very good at being a vampire, and his... acquaintences which had of course led to all sorts of interesting shenanigans. Then there was the mystery of the boy, Killian, who just kept on living. Yes, New York had been eventful.
But now they were in Paris, which was much quieter and more relaxing. Alyssa was all for eventful, but sometimes it was nice to just be in a wonerful city and enjoy the food. Which, by the way, was incredibly enjoyable. She could understand why a vampire would make their home here. The people of Paris were among the most delicious she had ever tasted. If she didn't enjoy travelling so much she herself would have attempted to make a home here.
She was lying on the hotel bed trying to think of something to do. It was a toss up between enjoy the food, or enjoy the city. She stretched slightly and turned her head to the window where her eyes fell on the Eiffel Tower. Gardener had mention in New York that the view from the Eiffel Tower was one of his favourites. She sat up, suddenly feeling the urge to be very high up.
"Can we go there tonight?"

Gardener had left New York very pleased with himself. He hadn't sorted out the mystery of how a boy he'd eaten had returned to life, but he had taught Alexis London and Ryden Alexander Compton a lesson. He would take the fact that he left one unconscious and the other bleeding profusely as victory.
Returning to Paris was a lovely treat. Coming home made the vampire remember just how much he missed his city. He'd lived in Paris for so many years. Being away from it must have been what it felt like for someone to leave a person they truly cared for. Gardener didn't know much about that.
Today he was collapsed across a sofa in the lovely hotel room. A human murder mystery novel lay open in his hands and he hadn't been overly successful in getting past chapter three without dozing off. That was what relaxation did to a vampire.
"Can we go there tonight?"
"Hhhmm?" Gardener turned his eyes to Alyssa who had suddenly sat up on the bed. Following her gaze, he smiled as he saw she was looking towards the Eiffel Tower.
"Absolutely, my dear. I think that would be a wonderful event for the evening."

"Absolutely, my dear. I think that would be a wonderful event for the evening."
Alyssa grinned and slid off the bed, making her way over to the couch Gardener was lying on. She sat herself on the floor at the head of the sofa, eyeing the book in Gardener's hands before resting her head on his shoulder. "What are you reading?"
She still hadn't managed to stop herself from asking questions, mundane as many of them were. One would think after four hundred years she'd have learnt a little more self control. One would be wrong. "Sorry," she said, thinking her question would be distracting from the book and she knew how annoying that was.
Pressing her lips tightly together she forced herself not to ask "So when can we go?" and waited as patiently as she could for Gardener to be ready.

Gardener watched from the corner of his eye as Alyssa made her way across the room to him. He let his head fall against hers, smiling faintly at both her question and her contact.
"It's one of those murder novels humans love so much. I don't really understand them. Humans are so intent on killing each other and denying the exhistance of vampires. You would think they would be much more successful if they just looked a little beyond themselves."
Gardener marked his place in the book with a torn piece of newspaper before sitting up and stretching.
"It's going to be a lovely evening by the looks of the weather." He turned his head to look out the window. "We wouldn't want to miss a second of it."
Getting up from the couch, Gardener went to a mirror which hung on the wall and ran his hands through his hair.
"I can be ready to leave whenever. Just say the word, love."

Alyssa examined the book as Gardener explained what it was. A faint 'huh' her only ackowledgement that she had heard. She did agree that perhaps humans just needed to be less introspective... then again if humans started suddenly believing in vampires it could make things problematic. Or more interesting... sometimes the two went hand in hand.
"It's going to be a lovely evening by the looks of the weather." He turned his head to look out the window. "We wouldn't want to miss a second of it."
"None at all," she agreed, moving herself out of the way as Gardener got up from the couch, heading for the mirror. She got to her feet, pulling her hair back and tying it in a loose bun.
"I can be ready to leave whenever. Just say the word, love."
Looking down at herself, Alyssa checked to make sure she herself was actually ready to go out. Clothes? Check. Shoes? Check. Handsome fellow vampire to enjoy herself with? Check. "Great, how about now?"

Gardener picked up his jacket and shrugged it on. He enjoyed his evenings with Alyssa. They always ended in such good times. Alyssa was damned good vampire and he respected that.
"Great, how about now?"
"Absolutely. No time wasting for us." Gardener pulled open the door, beckoning Alyssa to the hotel room.
"Where would we like to stop first? Are you hungry? Or perhaps we could stop by the Chanel store....eat and shop at the same time?"

"Absolutely. No time wasting for us."
Alyssa grinned and moved past Gardener, into the hotel hallway. Though she didn't quite understand why she was suddenly so restless, she was glad Gardener was willing to pander to her whims. Smiling, she stepped closer to him and kissed him on the cheek for his efforts.
"Where would we like to stop first? Are you hungry? Or perhaps we could stop by the Chanel store....eat and shop at the same time?"
Now that he mentioned it, Alyssa was hungry... and she could never so no to Chanel. "Wonderful idea," she said, linking her arm with his and leading him down the hallway.

Gardener smiled as Alyssa kissed his cheek and took his arm. As they made their way to the street below, he realized that being back in Paris put him in a far better mood than he had been. He wasn't sure if it was the Americas or just New York, but he was nearly a completely different vampire now. Nearly-not entirely-of course.
"There's nothing like Paris this time of year." He murmured, guiding Alyssa down a street towards the Parisian shopping district. "I don't know what it is about this city. Perhaps its just a homecoming. I don't get it."
He stopped in front of a shop front with the Chanel logo on one of the windows. Inside, he could see an employee and a few other shoppers.
"What do you think?" He looked at Alyssa. "What's our plan, love?"

The day had been long and the night was proving to be just as long especially considering that Darren now had to deal with a hyper Annie since he had taken her for ice-cream after their father had gotten caught up with "work" and had bailed on the dinner Annie had been looking forward to. Annie being younger got to voice her hour of discontent....rather loudly while Darren just sat back and let her have at it until he was pretty certain she was through and then offered to get them ice cream and all of their problems seemed to be solved as far as she was concerned.
Darren tried to remember that their dad worked hard and the work he did was important...he tried to remember this and he tried to not resent him for it.
But the ice cream was gone and it was getting late so Darren ahd insisted they ahd back to the hotel and get some sleep and he had homeowrk to get to since he was rather certain his french tutor was beginning to hate him. Annie skipped and ran along the sidewalk manuevering in and out of people rather well until she slammed into the back of a woman who was staning in front of a shop with a man.
Darren cringed slightly as Annie toppeled backwards but quickly jumped up and scrambeled through the front doors of the hotel lookign rather embaressed.
"Annie!" Darren called after his voice holding a scolding tone to it; but his baby sister was long since gone.
"Sorry about that," Darren offered up an apology to the couple on the sidewalk.
"She's a bit hyper tonight...too much ice-cream," he explained with a friendly smile.
"Sorry again!" Darren stated once more as he caught a glimpse of Annie speaking with the hotel manager at the front desk and he slipped through the lobby doors and out of the Paris night.

Alyssa peered through the window of the Chanel store, counting the people inside and trying to decide whether it would be worth it to kill everyone inside to shop first and then lead a couple of them somewhere quieter. She had almost decided when something slammed into her back, jolting her from her thoughts. Turning around, Alyssa watched a young girl jump to her feet and disappear into the hotel and a young boy after her.
"Annie!"
Her eyes lingered on the boy for quite some time, her brow furrorwed in confusion. Why did he look so familiar? She was quite certain she'd never seen the boy before in her life. But for some reason, she felt like she knew him... which was of course absurd. She returned his smile and nodded at his apology, watching him run after the girl.
"Sorry again!"
For a moment, Alyssa thought she saw a younger boy, standing in the street, pulling on her hand, begging her to stay home, just this once. She blinked and saw the older boy again, disappearing into the hotel.
Well that was just odd.
Shaking her head free of her thoughts, Alyssa returned her attention to the shop window, tilting her head to the side. "How hungry are you?"

Gardener had his eye on one particular woman who was moving through the shop. She was blonde, and obviously French by the way she carried herself. Gardener wanted her. He would take her out last.
"Annie!"
"What?" Gardener turned his thoughts from the shop window two human children who were running about on the street.
"Sorry again!"
"What did I miss?" Gardener asked Alyssa, noticing the strange expression on her face. "I was distracted with the shop's going on?"
Gardener couldn't help but notice the way Alyssa was shaking her head. He'd apparently missed a lot in the short time he'd been distracted. Alyssa would probably be the next woman to yell at him for not paying attention. Oh well, she wouldn't be the first and she most likely wouldn't be the last.
"How hungry are you?"
"Not starved. I'm in the mood for the thrill rather than anything else." He wrapped an arm around the woman's waist. "Are you all right, darling?"

"What did I miss?"
Alyssa smiled at him. "Nothing much," she said, waving her hand dissmissively. "Just children being children." Had it been a grown man or woman that had collided with her, Alyssa's attitude would have been very different, possibly going so far as to hunt the culprit down later. But Alyssa gave children some leniency... they were, after all, just children. Multiple incidents of irritation, however, were dealt with swiftly.
"Not starved. I'm in the mood for the thrill rather than anything else." Alyssa thought for a moment, she wasn't terribly hungry either though the thought of taking out everyone in the shop was quite exciting. "Are you all right, darling?"
Leaning into him as he wrapped his arm around her waist, Alyssa nodded. "Fine, love," she said cheerfully. The boy and the memory he had brought with him had shaken her, but now she was itching to do something. "So... take them all out, do a bit of shopping and move on?"

Gardener smiled. He had successfully avoided a lecture on not paying attention. He knew he had liked this girl for a reason.
"Ah yes, children. The only members of the human race I can forgive. They have too much of an aura about them that adults don't."
"So... take them all out, do a bit of shopping and move on?"
"Absolutely." Gardener drew Alyssa closer to him with the arm he kept around her waist. Using his free hand, he tipped her head to his and placed a more lingering kiss on her lips.
"Let's go." He took her hand and guided her towards the door. Pulling the door open, he smiled at the blonde woman he'd been eyeing up.
"What were you looking for, darling?" He asked, turning his gaze back to Alyssa. "We'll buy anything you want."

Alyssa smiled as Gardener accepted her plan. Well... it wasn't so much a plan as a vague outline but she was pleased he accepted it nonetheless. She kissed him back lightly before allowing him to lead her into the store.
"What were you looking for, darling? We'll buy anything you want."
Her eyes wandered around the store until they fell on a pair of black velvet pumps with an interesting decoration on the heel. She hoped she didn't get blood on them because she absolutely had to have them. "Those," she said, nodding in their direction before quickly taking note on the other people in the store... there was a delicious looking couple in the back, the woman, a red-head, examining handbags, and the man with her doing a very good job of looking interested.

As much as charm tried to prevail, Gardener had to refrain from rolling his eyes upon glancing about the shop. For a moment, he almost sympathized with the man's who's female companion had him looking at handbags. He was a good vampire in the killing aspect-but pretending he cared about shoes was another story entirely.
"Oh of course! I remember seeing their pictures a hundred times on the computer." Gardener smiled, resting his chin lightly on Alyssa's shoulder.
The blonde woman apparently took note of the quick potential of a sale and strolled over. Gardener took a step away from Alyssa so that the two could settle whatever went into buying shoes. Turning his head, he saw the man at the handbags looking at him. The man shrugged. Gardener shook his head.
"Makes no sense, does it?" He asked, crossing the store to the man's side.
