"I think I remember watching the tower being built,"
Gardener turned his look from the city over to Alyssa. Nodding, he gave her a slow smile.
"Really? I don't remember that. I may have been living out of the city then. I spent a bit of time in the country. Where are you from? I don't recall you saying."
Gardener swung himself over the fence so he was facing the opposite direction from both Alyssa and the view they'd had.
"I suppose the other important question of the evening, when do we leave for our Parisian excursion, Miss Scarani?"

"Really? I don't remember that. I may have been living out of the city then. I spent a bit of time in the country. Where are you from? I don't recall you saying."
Alyssa swung her legs lazily back and forth, but stopped at the loud noise her heels made when they hit the fence. "Venice," she explained. "I was thinking it was time to go back for a bit... which is why I am making a dash for Europe."
"I suppose the other important question of the evening, when do we leave for our Parisian excursion, Miss Scarani?"
Alyssa tapped her chin thoughtfully. "I suppose we could leave right away," she said, tilting her head to the side as she examined Gardener. "But I guess it all really depends on how curious you are about this un-dying boy and how interested you are in making Alexis pay."

Venice. Gardener liked Venice. It had been a very very long time since he'd been there. So long, in fact, he couldn't think of when he'd actually gone.
"Memory escapes me as to when I was last able to take in the beauties that Venice has to offer. I'd like to see it again. Perhaps you could show me about after we take in Paris?"
Her argument was valid. Gardener was free to get the hell out of New York if not for Alexis and her pet. Curiousity had killed the cat, but not the vampire.....
"Perhaps you would like to pay them a visit with me?" He jumped to the ground below, startled by the sound his shoes made upon hitting the surface. "We could go tomorrow....and if they intrigue you....we can stay, but if you see nothing suspicious or interesting.....we can be on our way."

Alyssa had never taken anybody to Venice with her. Then again, she had never actually had anyone to take with her. She shot Gardener a sideways glance before smiling at him.
"That would be lovely," she said. It might even be nice to cause a bit of chaos in Venice with someone else to help her admire the handy work.
"Perhaps you would like to pay them a visit with me?" Alyssa watched Gardener drop to the ground below them while she thought before dropping down next to him. "We could go tomorrow....and if they intrigue you....we can stay, but if you see nothing suspicious or interesting.....we can be on our way."
"Hmmm, yes, I think I will," she said, dusting herself off. As she stood up beside him. "I'm quite interested to meet this Alexis," she admitted. "I don't like vampires that harm others for the sake of humans."

Gardener smiled as Alyssa agreed that they should in fact see Venice together. As the girl landed beside him, he brushed her hair out of her face and smoothed it down her back.
"Excellent. That's just what I like to hear."
He had to refrain from rolling his eyes at Alexis's name. She'd managed to turn from a perfectly lovely vampire into something....well, he didn't have a word to describe it but he didn't like it.
"Yes, perhaps you can help me get answers from both of them. As to why the boy won't die and as to why Alexis has gone out of her head."
Holding out his arm, Gardener motioned to the doorway.
"Shall I escort you to your lodgings, my dear?"

Alyssa laughed slightly and nodded. "Sounds like quite the adventure," she said, sweeping her hair up into a bun and tying it up with a hair-tie around her wrist.
"Shall I escort you to your lodgings, my dear?"
Smiling, Alyssa finished with her hair and took Gardener's arm. "Thank you, Gardener, that would be wonderful."

Gardener watched with intensity as Alyssa swept up her hair. He never understood how women managed hair like that. He had enough trouble with his own. He supposed there was a lot about the feminine sex which he didn't get.
"A lovely plan then. I'll escort you home this evening, and call on you tomorrow. Say around 9?"
He led Alyssa back to the elevator and pressed the down arrow. The security guard should still be out. And if he wasn't, Gardener would just kill him.
"So, we've got a date with the boy and her, a date to hit up Bloomingdales, and then our European excursion. We've got quite the schedule." He opened the door leading them back out the New York streets.
"Which direction are we headed, darling?"

"A lovely plan then. I'll escort you home this evening, and call on you tomorrow. Say around 9?"
"Nine is perfect," Alyssa said, thinking that it would giver her enough time to be up at sundown and make herself appropriate for visiting the vampire and her pet.
"So, we've got a date with the boy and her, a date to hit up Bloomingdales, and then our European excursion. We've got quite the schedule."
Alyssa hadn't realised how much quieter the city had seemed way at the top of the Empire State Building. But down on the ground, even at the late hour, it was a noisy city. She supposed that's why they called it the city that never sleeps. "Yes, a much more interesting schedule than one I had originally planned."
She thought for a moment as he asked her what direction they needed to go in, momentarily lost. "North," she said finally. "I'm staying in a little cottage somewhere in the north of the city."

Gardener's brain was turning over Europe. He'd be very happy to get back there. And with such a beautiful woman on his arm, that just added a few bonus points.
He turned north on the street and walked in silence for a moment. Despite everything that had happened, he was enjoying himself more in New York than he had thought that he would.
"This city is an entity entirely its own." He sighed, staring at the row of taxi cabs which were lining the street. "Paris may be busy, but it doesn't seem this....chaotic."
Gardener was pleased that he was going to see where Alyssa was staying. This made his plans of sending her a new skirt entirely easier. He could keep it a secret....until the package appeared on her doorstep.

"This city is an entity entirely its own." They had been walking in silence for a while and Alyssa's mind had wandered and she was startled slightly by Gardener's voice. She tilted her head to the side and looked up at him questioningly. "Paris may be busy, but it doesn't seem this....chaotic."
Alyssa nodded. She'd been in many cities, many capitals, and most of them, though full of people, never seemed quite this, uncontrolled.
As they continued north, Alyssa spotted her cottage a little ways of into the distance and, though her eyes were keener than most and she knew if was further away than it seemed, was surprised at how close to the Empire State Building she had been staying without even realising it.
"Tomorrow at nine, then?" she clarified, more for something to say, as they neared the cottage. She wondered if she'd remembered to clear away the bodies or if she'd just thought she had.

Gardener spotted the house in front of them and figured that this must be the place where Alyssa had taken up her residence.
"Lovely place." He smiled. He was already making a mental note of the house address. He would be sending a package the next day.
"Nine indeed. I'll call for you then. But durning the day....keep a look out for a little trinket. You know, just to remember me by. I'll see to it that it comes near dark."
Leaning over, he brushed his lips against her cheek.
"Thank you for a lovely evening, Miss Scarani."
