Gardener was pleased when Alyssa agreed to travel with him. He hadn't had the opportunity to stroll about Paris with someone in a long time. It would be a lovely change of experiences for him.
Stopping just inside the dark park, Gardener caught Alyssa's arm and spun her gently to face him.
"I'd be more than happy to show you Paris. You'll find it's changed quite a lot in 200 years. I'm sure you'll love every second of it."
He raised her hand lightly to his lips, kissing it gently. Then he leaned in and breathed into her ear:
"Let's get this plan into action." Pulling away from her, Gardener took a few steps so that he was a few feet away from the young couple.
"Emily? Emily where are you? No hiding from Daddy!"

"I'm sure I will," Alyssa agreed, her eyes sparkling as Gardener kissed her hand.
"Emily? Emily where are you? No hiding from Daddy!"
Alyssa fell easily into her role. Her face became worried, her eyes frantic and she latched on to Gardener's arm, speaking loud enough for the couple under the tree to hear. "Darling, I don't know where she could have gone. She was holding my and... and then... and now it's dark and... Emily?!"
She turned to the couple, her expression becoming hopeful as if she had just realised they were there. "Excuse me, you haven't seen a little girl at all have you? She's about this tall," Alyssa held her hand at halfway up her thigh. "And she has long, dark curls and... " she trailed off, looking distraught, and buried her face in Gardener's arm.

Gardener held back a laugh as Alyssa began to join in the game. She was a stunning actress. For that matter, he was beginning to believe they had a lost child!
"Shh, darling, I'm sure she's around her somewhere. You know how much she loves the park." Gardener wrapped his arm around Alyssa's waist and hugged her against him. "Have you seen her? She was wearing a pink t shirt with a kitten....."
The couple was shaking there heads, murmuring that they hadn't see the girl. The girl was looking anxiously at the boy. That seemed to be his cue. When he got up and offered to help look, she was right there next to him.
"Oh, thank you. We really appreciate it. Maybe she headed for the duck pond? Darling, you know how much she likes the ducks."

Alyssa leaned into Gardener as he wrapped his arm around her waist, and pressed her face into his shoulder. In a moment, there would be tears and it would be safe to face the couple again. But it was hard to play the frantic mother convincingly with dry, hard eyes.
"Oh, thank you. We really appreciate it. Maybe she headed for the duck pond? Darling, you know how much she likes the ducks."
Alyssa finally turned to the young couple, eyes red with tears. "Thank you," she said, in a faux-brave voice. She pretended to think for a moment. "Yes, she loves the ducks," she said finally. "She may have run off there."
The young man nodded and took his girlfriends hand before leading the way to the duck pond. When their backs were turned, Alyssa couldn't help the grin that spread across her face as they followed behind. A long with being one of the easiest meals she'd ever caught, this was also probably the most entertaining. She was going to have to hunt with Gardener more often.

She'd managed to pull up tears? Gardener was extremely impressed. Alyssa was a fantastic vampire. He enjoyed hunting with someone who wasn't afraid to pull out all the stops.
His eyes fell on the grin which graced her face. Gardener's face turned into a smirk in return.
"You're very good at this." He whispered into her ear. "It will be a good meal."
They were approaching the now darkened pond. Gardener thought he heard a faint quack of a duck on the water. Making sure there was no one around, he moved from Alyssa to stand next to the young man.
"Emily? Are you here? The ducks are no fun in the dark. Come out, come out, wherever you are....." He turned his head and glanced back at Alyssa.

"You're very good at this... It will be a good meal."
Alyssa smiled. "You're not so bad yourself," she whispered back.
They reached the duck pond and Alyssa noted that it was so dark around it, it was impossible to see the other side... even for a vampire. The darkness and the fact that there was no one around meant that this would be quick and easy, with little to no complications. Perfect.
Alyssa watched as Gardener stepped away from her and towards the young man. She hugged herself against the cold, or fear, or whatever it was human mothers felt in these situations. When Gardener glanced her way, she took that as her cue and moved over to the young girl, taking her wrist lightly.
"Help me look on the far side," Alyssa said, adding a small tremor to her voice. "She might be over there." Alyssa could see the girl struggling with the idea of leaving her boyfriend's side but decided the safety of a young girl was more important and agreed. Alyssa gave her a small grateful smile. She of course, had no intention of going all the way to the other side of the pond, merely further away from the young man so he couldn't make things difficult by attempting to grab the girl and run.
She afforded a glance back at Gardener and gave him a smile, a small glint of fang visible, before she stopped in her tracks, still holding on to the girl's wrist.
"I think that's far enough," she said, all false fear and worry gone from her voice now. The girl looked at her in shock, and attempted to run, but Alyssa used her free hand to grab the girl by the hair and pulled her closer, tipping her head the the side and exposing the neck. She could see the pulse in her neck and licked her lips slightly in anticipation. She glanced over at Gardener again, to make sure he had the boy and raised her eyebrow questioningly at him.

Gardener nodded slightly as Alyssa began to move away from him. She had a good plan in mind. He took another step closer to the boy, near enough that he could have slipped his arm around his waist.
"Yes, that's quite far enough." Gardener's hand snapped up and grabbed the back of the boy's neck. The boy uttered a faint gasp as Gardener yanked him backwards.
"Shh, shh, shh." He murmured as he turned the boy's neck sideways. "No need for any hassles. This goes much simplier if you just let me do this."
He lowered his head and sniffed the boy's blood through his skin. Opening his mouth, he set his fangs into the boy's neck.

Seeing Gardener sink his teeth into the boy's throat, Alyssa turned to her own meal and, with a small smile to the girl, bit into her throat. She couldn't help her quiet moan of joy as the blood flowed into her mouth and she drank greedily, the girl struggling in her hold for a bit before finally going limp.
Alyssa hadn't realised how hungry she was until she'd realised she was still drinking even after life had left the girl's body, trying to drain her of every last drop. Not exactly the most lady like thing she could have done. Reluctantly pulling herself away from the girl's throat, she dropped the body and gently nudged it with her toe, sending it rolling into the pond. Someone would no doubt find the body later and cause a fuss... that might be amusing to watch... it was a shame it would probably happen during the day.
With a small sigh, she stepped away from the edge of the pond, and stretched out luxuriously on the ground, ignoring, for the moment, the small trickle of blood coming from the corner of her mouth.
"Why do you think the younger ones taste better?" she mused aloud, moving around slightly so she could look at Gardener.

Gardener sighed deeply as the boy's blood began to wash over his lips. He let his eyes close for a moment to properly enjoy the sensation. He'd read many human articles on food and knew that they considered eating as one of the fine pleasures of life. He wondered if they realized how lovely they became when they were the food.
Gardener opened his eyes and watched Alyssa feed as he finished the boy off. She was certainly a vampire who enjoyed her trait. He respected a vampire who enjoyed blood to that greatness.
Letting the boy fall from his grasp, he watched the body fall half in and half out of the pond. He'd push it in fully.
"Oh, who knows, darling." He sighed as he stretched out on the grass next to Alyssa. "Maybe it has to do with all the toxins they haven't yet ingested."
He propped himself up on one arm and used his thumb to wipe away the trickle of blood on the other vampire's mouth. Licking it from his skin, he fell back to look up at the sky.
"Want to weight down the bodies? Keep them hidden a bit more? Draw out the suspense?"

"Oh, who knows, darling... Maybe it has to do with all the toxins they haven't yet ingested."
Alyssa thought that made sense. Not that it really mattered at all. All she really needed to know was which tasted better. But sometimes, she couldn't help but ask. She looked at Gardener as he wiped the blood from her mouth then licked her lips slightly in case there was any there.
"Want to weight down the bodies? Keep them hidden a bit more? Draw out the suspense?"
Alyssa stretched a bit and smiled. "Will it involve getting up?" she asked with a small laugh. She knew she'd have to get up sooner or later, she was getting dirt all over her clothes, and the sun would rise eventually. But at that particular moment she was rather comfortable.

Gardener laughed as Alyssa's reaction was less than enthusiastic to moving. He wasn't overly excited about the idea either. There was something about killing humans which was so satisfying. Maybe it was just the natural vampire in him which came out so frequently.
"We can stay here as long as you like." He turned his head to glance over at Alyssa. "I have to say, that was highly impressive. We should take to hunting together more often."
He reached across the distance between them and took her hand into his. The moment seemed to require peace that only a connection with another vampire could bring. This was the type of night where he was proud of what he was.

"Mmmm, that's good," Alyssa said, quietly when Gardener said they could stay there as long as she wanted. "And yes, I think hunting together more often would be fun," she agreed. "I haven't hunted with a partner in... wow, I don't even remember when."
She felt Gardener's hand grip hers and smiled, shifting her position so that her head was resting against his shoulder. Her eyelids felt heavy and she felt her breathing slow. Was she tired? This early in the night? She laughed slightly.
"Why, Gardener, I do believe you've worn me out already," she said. "And the night's not even over yet."

"Neither have I," Gardener agreed with her statement regarding having hunted with a partner. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy aligences with other vampires, but it could just be so time consuming sometimes to find a suitable partner.
Gardener turned to his side so that he was laying directly against the side of Alyssa's body. Reaching over, he brushed a stray lock of hair away from her face.
"Mmm, exhausted already darling? I suppose a little rest wouldn't hurt anyone. Why don't you nap? I'll keep an eye out just in case anyone drops by...."
He kissed her forehead gently and laid his hand over hers as he turned his gaze back to the dark park. He was beginning to bond with the park at night. He hoped he wasn't beginning to like New York City.

A nap sounded good. Though she was still incredibly amused by the fact that she was so exhausted already. Her eyes fluttered closed as he kissed her on the forehead and she smiled.
"Don't let me sleep too long," she said firmly. "I doubt it will be particularly entertaining to watch me sleep... and it would be a shame to waste the whole night sleeping."

"Oh, I'd never dream of letting you sleep the night away." Gardener squeezed Alyssa's hand gently as he got up from the ground.
Moving over to where he'd left the boy's body, he turned it over on the ground. Pulling a black leather wallet out his back pocket, he opened it.
"My apologies, Jonathan Collins, age 17 of East 43rd Street." Rummaging through, Gardener found a twenty dollar bill, which he shoved into his own pocket before breaking the boy's ID in half several times and tossing it across the pond. The boy was also wearing a fairly nice watch. Gardener took that as well.
Wading into the pond slightly, he pulled the girl's body back out. A silver colored ring with a red stone was on the fourth finger of her right hand. Gardener thought it looked like some school ring. He let it be when it gave a slight sting to the finger he touched to it. But the gold chain with the small owl pendant around her neck he took, putting that into his pocket with the boy's money and watch.
Shoving the girl's body back into the water, he moved back to a seated position at Alyssa's side.
