Alexis reached over and wrapped her arm lightly around Killian.
"I know." She told him gently. "It's ok. You did the right thing."
As Ryden joined Killian, Alexis took the opportunity to get up. She wanted to go to bed, but she had a body to dispose of first.
After pulling the dagger out of Gardener's arm and throwing it aside, she grabbed a hold of one of his arms and began dragging him towards the stairs. When she reached them, she accepted she could have picked up the body and carried it, but that would have been too nice. Instead, she let it bump down every stair until they reached the bottom.
Downstairs, Alexis used the emergancy landline she kept for power failures to call the gargage that was managing her car. A glance out the window showed that the sun had set sometime during their meeting with Gardener. That was good. Less questions.
When the car arrived, Alexis waited until the driver left and then carried Gardener to the passenger's seat. She buckled his seatbelt over him and tucked a blanket high up to his neck. In case anyone did see them, they wouldn't notice the wounds.
Alexis drove through the evening until she reached the sewer pipe she had come out of with Jon Brunner some time back. Lifting Gardener out, she carried him to the pipe and slipped the body inside. Once he was in, she crawled in afterwards and pushed the body further into the tunnel. That would hold off any questions. Until, of course, Gardener came back to life and then that would be bad.
Deciding Gardener was in a reasonable place now, Alexis drove the car back towards the store. She left it parked on the street across from the front enterance. It would be easier to call in the morning. She headed back inside to see how Ryden and Killian were doing.

Killian flinched away from the fingers of the man or vampire or whatevere he was that had taken Alexis's place. He wanted to pull away from the guy as his eyes were forced open and the pain continued to throb against his skull in a sickening rythm.
"Let go..." he muttered attempting a weak attempt to pull himself out of the man's grasp. An attempt that failed weekly.
Killian attempted to see where Alexis was going but she was gone before he could ask or protest. Once the man pulled his hands back Killian slummped back into his previous position on the floor trying to not focus on the fact that his head was throbbing in time with his heart beat which seemed to be getting faster and faster.
The floor beneath him seem to surge one way and another his stomach clenched once more though he would have bet money on the fact he had already managed to heave up all he had eaten in the last few days. But just the same a strong sense of copper filled his throat and he felt himself violently throwing up a mouthful of blood. The sight of it was enough to drench him in a cold sweat of fear and he feebly tried to push himself away before the world tipped around him and he tumbeled backwards on to the floor his eyes rolling shut before he ever hit the floor.

Ryden was unsure as to what had occured in the time he had set about preparing the boys room to take him back into it but when he returned to the livingroom space the boy was unconcious and there wasa fresh pool of blood beside him which his blood stained lips gave a clear evidence to where it came from.
Without wasting another moments time Ryden picked up the human and carried him back into the room at the end of the hallway which he had been easily able to peg as where the human resided. Setting the boy down upon the clean sheets Ryden pulled the blood caked over shirt off of him and placed the covers over him. It was a blessing and a curse that the boy was unconcious. A blessing since he would not be able to feel the pain of his injures being tended to but a curse because there was now a possibilty that the boy would not wake up.
Ryden gathered several clean towles and a large basin of water and a set of sewing needles and the like and began to slowly and carefully clean and stitch the large wound in the back of the boys head which was causing the most problems he was sure. Once he was pleased with the state of that one he stitched up the one slightly above the boys temple and cleaned the blood off of the back of his head and face ebfore allowing the unconcious body to lay back down.
"Killian," Ryden stated the boys name with a sense of purpose in hopes it would cause the boy to rise or give any sort of response but silence was the only thing which greeted him.
Several moments passed before Ryden took note of the sheen of sweat which covered the boys forhead and the light shifting movement of his head; it all gave creedance that behind his eyes there were unpleasent things occuring.
"Killian!" Ryden demnaded once more shaking the boys shoulder slightly.
"Esther..."
Ryden's eyes darkened slightly in confusion at the broken word which fell from the boys lips as the body beneath him continued to fret from one side to another. Killian continued in that state every several moments with muttering of "Esther" and he even began to call for Alexis in his unconcious state as well.
The more and more the boy continued like this the graver the matter became.
"Alexis..."
The boys broken tone was enough to cause anyone grief and Ryden did his best to give comfort where he could to the unconcious boy.
"She will be back shortly," Ryden explained even though he was rather certain the boy could not hear a word that was taking place outside of his own mind.

Alexis dragged herself up the stairs feeling like she'd been dragged a thousand miles by a truck. She forced her body to walk through the living and down the hallway. Stopping in the doorway, she leaned against the door frame and looked over at Killian.
"Killian?" Her eyes widened when he said her name. She moved quickly across the small distance between them. She hadn't realize he was awake and-. But when Alexis reached the boy's side, she saw that he was asleep, or unconscious or something.
"Killian." Alexis sat down on the bed beside the boy. Reaching over, she drew one of his hands into her lap. He looked terrible, but she could see his wounds had been cleaned up.
"Thank you for taking care of him." She turned her eyes to Ryden Compton. "I feel so terrible. It's my fault he came into this mess. If I hadn't killed him, he wouldn't have come looking for me and that wouldn't have brought Marisolla into the store and-."
She stopped. Hearing it that way, it really was all her fault. Alexis felt her heart sink to somewhere in the floor beneath her. Still cradling Killian's hands in one of hers, she brought the other one up to her face in an attempt to hide the tears from the other vampire who was in her presence.

"It is not your fault Alexis...these things cannot be helped," Ryden explained as he placed a soothing hand upon Alexis's shoulder. He could tell her grief was strong and he knew what he ahd to tell her was only going to make it that much worse.
Ryden cast a look over Killian for a moment before returning his gaze to Alexis; what he ahd to tell her next would not be easy.
"Mom..." Killian's broken and pained vocie whispered through the room and it carried enough anguish that Ryden couldn't help but wonder what it was the boy had been through in his years on this earth.
"Alexis...darling I know this is hard but I need to know the specifics in regards to his immortality...if he were to die...what would occur?" Ryden asked his tone of voice as even and soothing as he could manage over Killian's speratic calls for Alexis, Esther and his mother.

Alexis felt Ryden's hand on her back. For a moment, it helped. But the sensation was pushed a way. After what she'd been through in the last few weeks, it was going to take more than a few moments of comfort to soothe her.
"He...." Alexis's tear filled eyes batted between Ryden and Killian. As Killian's broken voice continued to fill the room, Alexis gathered his hand to her check. The poor boy...poor kid....in all of this, he really was just a child.
"He...." Alexis swallowed hard and tried to remember what Killian had told her about his curse. "It was some kind of cat curse-like 9 lives or something. He can come back, but only a certain number of times. I think he has 3.....no......no.....two left. I killed him once....and......Gardener killed him again and........"
She wanted nothing more than to help Killian. She wanted to return the life she'd taken from him. She wanted to kill Gardener for taking another of his lives. She just wanted to........
Alexis used her free hand to wipe tears off of her cheeks before turning to look at Ryden.
"Why do you ask?" She whispered softly.

It tore at Ryden's heart to see Alexis hurting and there was nothing he could do about any of it at the moment.
"Why do you ask?"
Ryden crouched down in front of Alexis his hand resting upon her knee as he looked back at her; this would not be easy to tell her even though it was good to know that the boy could come back and he would not be lost to her; not yet at least.
"Alexis he is basically immortal then...or as near to it as possible. He injured himself gravely at some point in time; more hten likely after he called you. The blow to his head was very severe and what he is suffering through now is not a promising sign at all. He will slip into a coma Alexis...and being immortal he will not die from that he will simply be trapped in his own mind for eternity with no escape," Ryden hated to have to explain such grave things to her but she needed to know.
"The only way to save him from that Alexis...is to kill him. To end the life he is trapped in and allow him a new one...it is the only way. But he is yours and you have claimed him and therefor as much as I hate to lay this at your feet...the choice is yours as to what becomes of him next," Ryden explained gently as Killian's broken whisperes continued on.
"They don't...they don't know...leave them alone...she's not a witch...I'm not...I...please."
The boy was beginning to break Ryden's heart as well.
".....Alexis..."

Alexis closed her eyes. There was no way she could look at Ryden as he tried to talk to her. She didn't want to hear his words-but closing her eyes wouldn't stop her ears from hearing them.
To end the life he is trapped in and allow him a new one...it is the only way.
"No-." Alexis opened her mouth to argue. Even if the boy went into a coma, he could come out of it on his own. Humans did that all the time. But.....
Opening her eyes, Alexis looked at Killian. She couldn't stand having him here in this condition. She just couldn't listen to those words. Mercy was really the only thing she could off him now. She broke into fresh tears at the thought.
"I don't know if I can-I'll feel worse. It happened once because of me. That time it was my fault and.....but....." Alexis turned her head away from both Ryden and Killian as she tried to contain herself. She could hear Killian asking for her. Her brain seemed to translate that into not just a plea for her physical being, but for some sort of help in his current state. She'd never had a human beg her for help before. And the concept made her want to cut out her own heart and slice it into a thousand pieces.
"I don't know if I can do it." She whispered, turning her face back to Ryden. "I could try..... But if you think that you could......I allow you."

"I don't know if I can do it. I could try..... But if you think that you could......I allow you."
It had been years since Ryden had taken a drink of blood from a human and even more time since he had killed a human but for her, for Alexis he would do it; if only to save her the pain he knew it would cause her if she had to do it.
Ryden stood up and took Alexis's hand in his own and placed his lips against her cold flesh and then pulled himself silently from her and walked around to the other side of the bed so that Alexis could keep her hold upon Killian;s hand; the connection hopefully aiding her in some way.
"It will be better this way," Ryden explained to her and prayed to whomever was listening that he was correct.
"...Alexi..."
Ryden cut off the boys pleading voice as he quickly leaned over his teeth digging into the boys throat beneath him. He used one hand to hold the boys form in place incase he should thrash about but no such thing happened and after a few moments the boys pained whisperes atppered off completely and Ryden pulled himself from him the moment he felt the boys heart stop.
Pulling himself away from the boy and trying to not look at his pale lifeless face he could not bring himself to look at Alexis either hoping she did not regret the choice she had asked of him.

Alexis watched miserably as Ryden walked to the other side of the bed. She want to leave the room, but letting go of Killian might kill her. She couldn't.....she couldn't kill him and she couldn't leave him. What she'd do once Ryden had done it she didn't know.
"I'm so sorry, Killian." She whispered, raising his hand to her lips gently. "If there was any other way....."
A lump in her throat threatened to choke her and cut off her words. Alexis closed her mouth and let her tears run down her cheeks. She watched as a variety of them hit Killian's skin and rain in small rivers towards his sleeve.
"I never should have let him." Alexis whispered. She laid his hand gently beside him as she got to her feet. "I never should have...if I'd been here when Gardener showed up....if I'd....."
Tears engulfed her and Alexis turned away from Ryden. She never in a thousand years would have guessed she'd shed tears over a human life.
"Thank you, for doing it." She whispered to the nearest wall. "I couldn't have....I....not again....at least."

"If you had been here then I fear you both would be dead right now and as the boy explained before you cannot come back and he; he still has that gift," Ryden explained as he watched Alexis pull herself away from Killian's dead body.
"Thank you, for doing it. I couldn't have....I....not again....at least."
Grabbing the bed sheet within his hands Ryden pulled the bed sheet over Killian's body so the sight of him so pale would not conitnue to haunt Alexis. He then made his way over to her in a blink of an eye his arms embracing her against him; he hoped he was not over stepping his bounds but he felt as if she needed a connection with someone at the moment.
"I was glad to have been of service. He is well now and will come back...in however long it takes him to do such a thing," Ryden spoke to her in soft even tones.

"I don't think I care." Alexis murmured in response to Ryden's comment about her being dead as well. "It wouldn't really make any difference."
She could not convince herself that she didn't mean those words. This would be the way her life would be if she continued to mingle with humans. And most of them couldn't come back. So why should she develop attachments to them? What was the point of any attachments?
Alexis laid her head on Ryden's chest as he drew her close. Her tears had stopped for some odd reason. Maybe her body had just run out of them. Alexis considered that could be true since she felt like she'd done nothing but cry lately.
"I know. It's just-." Alexis started to try to explain what she had been thinking and stopped. She saw no point in actually saying anything. She leaned up and lightly kissed Ryden's lips.
"I appreciate your help in this. You should probably get away from me now before you end up dead. Take Killian with you. It'll be better that way."
Alexis pulled away from the other vampire and turned to leave the room. She headed back down the hallway to her bloodstreaked bedroom. She pushed the door shut before collapsing on the bed and staring blankly up at the ceiling. If she never moved from this place, she'd be content.

"It would make a lot of difference to myself and to Killian as well...and the way you cared over him shows me that he means a great deal to you as well...so it would matter," Ryden responded gently yet forcefully.
"I appreciate your help in this. You should probably get away from me now before you end up dead. Take Killian with you. It'll be better that way."
Ryden wished to protest but Alexis had departed from the room and into her own before he had the chance and he would not disturb her once she had shut the door behind her. He would not leave her side; not while her life was a shamble because of him; he had created Marisolla and her evil was his own.
He casted a look at the boy who lay covered on the bed...dead and then back down the hallway.
"Whatever it is you do to return...do it quickly," Ryden spoke to the body before walking out of the room.
