Harper Benedict sat upon the simple cot which sat in the middle of the room his eyes glued to the clock which he could see just outside of the window to the door of his cell...or as the doctos enjoyed calling it his "room"...which was bullshit it was a cell. But just the same he sat and he watched the clock hands tick slowly by as 10:00 grew closer and closer and the moment the clock clicked to the proper position the lights in the hospital clicked off bathing them all in darkness for the msot part.
The screams of several mentally ill patients could be heard sounding down the hallway but they were sounds that Harper had long since grown accustomed to. He had been here for far too long; long nough that between the time and the medications they continued shoving down his throat he had lost track of time of how long he had been there and when he had seen his father last.
But the one thing he had not lost track of, the one thing that nothing within the walls of Pembrooke could silence was the fleeting voices which whispered into his ear. The dark plans for the ends of days that nobody seemed bother by save for him. Harper attempted to shift slightly upon the bed but there was only so far he could get as the shackles upon his wrists held him in place for the most part. He had been told they were customary at night since that was the time their worst patients seemed to injure themselves...apprently knowing the end game for angels and demons classified Harper as a "worst patient."
Harper closed his eyes in a vain attempt to search out sleep but as soon as he closed his eyes the whisperes began and his eyes snapped open as they grew louder. These voices were softer at the moment and by the tone of covnersation Harper quickly realized it was the angels...graces had been stolen...13 to be exact and they were devizing a plan to get them back. Harper allowed his eyes to shut as he was forced to listen to the plan unfold. He had long since given up on trying to shut them out. The vocies of the angels were quickly drowned out by 2 harsher voices who discussed the breaking of what they classified to be the final seal...someone had to kill one...try to while the other decieved some man named Sam...these were the demons it had become far to easy to pin point which side was which though at times those with their own agendas for both sides threw him off.
Harper stared up at the ceiling as the vocies turned to whisperes once more and he shivered slightly in their wake as it was very clear to him was sort of beings were out there lurking in the shadows.

Liana snuck through the halls of Pembrooke asylum, sticking to the shadows so as to remain unnoticed for as long as possible. She had received intelligence that there was a telepath that was tuning in to not only the angels conversations, but the demons’ too. She felt it would be in everyone’s best interests if she got to him before the winged wonders did. What she was going to do with him when she got her hands on him was still up for debate.
She could feel the suffering of the patients in their cells and her eyes flashed black with glee. She considered taking a small side trip through the rooms to see how many souls she could collect but decided against it. She had more important things to worry about.
She stopped outside a door and looked through the small window down the side. And there he was. Harper Benedict. One of the biggest threats to the apocalypse in existence. Forgoing stealth, Liana kicked down the door and walked calmly into the room.
“Howdy, Harper,” she said cheerfully. “Time to go.”

Harper had managed to get the voices down to a dull whisper which would hopefully allow him a few hours of sleep at least even though he knew that was probably an emtpy goal in itself but just the same he tried. He allowed his eyes to slip shut and his breathing to calm even as for some reason he felt the creeping sensation of anxiety rolling over him in waves. With his eyes closed he was sloly focusing on breathing himself into a calm you could say when the door to the cell cracked open with a force which did not lend way to it being an ordeal...especially since as soon as Harper's eyes snapped opened he saw that the door had been kicked in and there now standing in the doorway was a woman he had never seen before.
"Howdy Harper...time to go."
Harper attempted to pull himself away from his current position but the restraints held him firmly in place as they were meant to. His eyes never leaving the woman Harper gave another solid yank upon the restraints which in return did not move in the least bit.
He couldn't be certain which side she was on but the dark cloud that seemed to surrond her was a pretty clear indication that she was a demon...though Harper could have been wrong. Angel or demon Harper would have reacted the same expecially considering some of the things he had heard from the angels.
"Get away from me," Harper replied to her "greeting" as he pulled on the restraints again in a feeble hope that they would break away giving him some sort of chance.

Liana held back a laugh as Harper struggled against his restraints in a vain attempt to get away from her. She couldn't help the slow smirk that spread across her face though.
"Get away from me,"
"Now, that's just not nice," she said, her eyes turning black as she pulled the lone chair in the room over to her and sitting on it backwards. She rested her arms on the back of the chair and her chin on her arms, looking at Harper sternly.
"Listen sweetheart, we can either do this the easy way, or the hard way," she said. "And I'm a huge fan of the hard way." She knew silent alarms would have been tripped when she broke down the door and she could hear people approaching the rooms.
"The easy way: you come with me, I take you far, far away from this place, you tell me everything inside that gorgeous wee head of yours and then I let you go on your merry." She tilted her head and one of his restraints came undone. "The hard way: I kill everyone in this building, and some that aren't, torture you until I get bored and then hand you over to Lilith."
One of the asylum guards ran into the room and, not taking her eyes off Harper, Liana held her hand up to him, freezing him in his tracks. He was unmoving for a long time until blood started trickling from his eyes... and then his nose... and his mouth. He tried to scream but Liana kept him silent and eventually lowered her hand, allowing him to crumple to the ground, his blood pooling beneath him.
"So what'll it be?" she asked, the black disappearing from her eyes.

Harper's eyes grew wide and his struggles against the restraints ceased for the moment as the woman...the demons eyes went black as night. He had only heard them up until this point never seen one they had always been faceless cold voices in the darkness and for that he had been grateful, it made them easier to deal with; but now...now he had a face to go with the voices and that some how made it so much worse.
"They say I'm not very nice around these parts," Harper snapped as the demon got herself situated on a chair; his eyes never left her though for the moment he struggles ceased since it was all too clear the damned restraints weren;t going to give an inch.
"The easy way: you come with me, I take you far, far away from this place, you tell me everything inside that gorgeous wee head of yours and then I let you go on your merry..."
Harper stared down at the restraint which unlocked itself and was a second away from attempting to tear off the other one when she voiced option 2.
"The hard way: I kill everyone in this building, and some that aren't, torture you until I get bored and then hand you over to Lilith."
Harper was about to protest, about to call her a liar; hell he had heard enough times of the wind blowing the other way was enough to get a demon to change their mind on whatever they wanted. He attempted to focus his eneergy on her thoughts alone to see what he could pull from them but all the other thoughts in the whole damn place seemed to get in the way.
Harper froze himself as he watched in awe struck terror as the demon ebfore him stopped the guard in his tracks.
"Don't..." he whispered a second before blood began to stream from the man's eyes. Harper watched horrified as the man died before his very eyes.
"So what'll it be?"
Her voice ripped him back into the "here and now" with a startled jerk as his eyes found hers once more.
He couldn't be responsible for that many people dying...not like that and if he refused her here he would be responsible for all of their lives. It wasn't himself he feared for...not entirely it was all the lives he had suddenly been put in charge of.
"Fine...just leave them all alone," Harper replied his voice no louder then a whisper.

Liana waited slightly less than patiently for Harper to make his decision. She could almost see the struggle on his face. His life or theirs? Humans were so indecisive.
"Fine...just leave them all alone,"
Liana smiled. Although disappointed she wouldn't be killing as much as she would like, his cooperation made things much easier. "Great," she said, gesturing vaguely at him to release his bonds. She heard more footsteps coming down the hall and cursed. He'd picked the easy way, meaning minimal casualties. Dammit. "So, how to get out of here without killing everyone," she muttered, looking around.
The windows were small, and barred, but if she broke the bars and made the hole bigger, they could both get out of there. The only question would be could she do it before more guards came into the room. She lifted her hand, palm out, and slammed the door closed, holding it that way as she turned her attention back to the window. She lifted her other hand, palm to the window and mentally pushed as hard as she could. She heard the bars creak and slowly start to give way.
"Come on," she growled. Damn thick concrete walls. "Come on." Finally, the bars, and a good chunk of concrete gave way and fell forward onto the street below. She looked at Harper. "After you, Mr Benedict."

Harper pulled himself off of the bed once the demon had released the restraints and for a brief moment he thought of running in the other direction and getting as far away from the demon as he could...but then again he knew how demons worked he of all people knew their thoughts and he knew she would be on him before he even got out of the building and that no doubt would cost lives of innocent people; people who didn;t deserve to die because of him.
Harper watched as the bar and a chunk of concrete gave way and fell forward onto the street below. He took a step forwards as the demon instructed that he was to go out first which made sense since he figured she would want to keep an eye on her prize.
"Lucky me," Harper whispered to himself as he made his way to the large hole in the wall now his bare feet brushing across the floor which was now covered with dust and small pieces of shattered stone.
"After you, Mr Benedict."
Harper leaned over the opening for a moment allowing his eyes to scan the Seattle night sky. He had wanted to feel the cool air of the night for months...and in this moment he would give it all up to make the demon leave. Without hesitating further Harper climbed out of the window and landed on the grass below. The thought of running once again crossed his mind but he figured it would be useless and waited for the demon to join him.

Liana climbed out the window after Harper, careful not to rip her dress, and dropped onto the grass next to him. She stood up and dusted herself off. She opened her mouth to say something when screams of horror filtered from the room above. Apparently the guards had gotten through the door and discovered the body of the other one.
"Uh oh," she said, grabbing Harper's arm and pulling him towards the street before the guards could follow them out the window. She scanned the darkness and then, spotting what she was looking for, pulled Harper across the road towards an empty parked car. As they got close, the car roared to life and Liana went to the drivers side door.
"Get in," she ordered before sliding in herself and putting the car in reverse.

Harper wasn't sure where to begin as events began to unfold around them. For some reason he would have thought being kidnapped by a demon of all creatures would have run more smoothly then it currently was but then again perhaps he had watched too many movies as a boy or had allowed his own imagination to run away with him.
He followed the demon towards a car which roared to life and Harper figured there was another in it...he was rather surprised to find the demon slid into the driver seat. To say he felt like an idiot just getting into a car with a demon...a demon who would no doubt kill him would have been the under statement of the year but he did so anyways.
He slammed the door behind him and kept his eyes down casted upon his bare feet as the demon tore the car into reverse.
The night had gotten far too eventful for Harper's liking and he was rather certain it would only get worse before it ended.

The car tires screeched as Liana spun the car around, put it in drive and tore down the road. It wasn't exactly the most subtle getaway she'd ever made but it would do. Now came the awkward part. The part between the kidnapping and the hideout that always seemed to get skipped in movies. The hour long drive during which, if it got too silent, she would probably end up torturing as she drove just to fill the silence.
But since, for the moment, she needed Harper in one piece, she leaned forward and turned on the car radio, letting the music fill the car. She relaxed in her seat and, after being sure no one was following her, slowed her speed to that of the speed limit. No need to get unnecessarily pulled over. She'd hate to have to kill someone... well, no, she'd love to have to kill someone, but keeping Harper compliant was at the top of the list at the moment and she was pretty sure he wouldn't appreciate her killing someone else in front of him.
Houses gave way to fields and farms and finally, Liana turned up a long driveway and stopped outside a relatively nice farm house. Stepping out of the car and going around to Harper's side, she pulled him out of the car and, not very gently, led him into the house, locking the door behind her, and every other door and/or exit she could think of. She sat him down on one of the seats in the living room and stood in front of him, arms, crossed.
"Now," she said, " down to business."

The car ride from the hos[ital to new hell had to have been the most awkward hour of Harper's life. A few times he had thought of asking a question or demanding to know where they were going or what the hell she wanted from him exactly but he knew that nothing he could do would be helpful for his situation so instead he stayed silent his eyes searching the world outside of the car and trying to committ it all to memory incase he had the good fortune of breaking free he could know where to go.
As the minutes ticked by it became more and more of a struggle to stay awake. The medicine that the doctors had pumped into their system every night were beginning to take hold and it took an extra effort for Harper to force himself to stay with it.
Harper had slipped off when he felt himself hauled out of the car and shoved towards a house. Once inside he sat into the chair the demon shoved him into and stared up at her.
"Can I at least get the name of the demon that kidnapped and will most likely kill me?" Harper snapped his eyes focused on the demon before him.

"Can I at least get the name of the demon that kidnapped and will most likely kill me?"
"First of all," Liana said, moving back to sit down in the seat across from him. "I'm not going to kill you unless you make me. I'm a demon of my word, you give me what I want, and I let you go, simple as that. And you can call me Liana."
She crossed her legs and tapped her fingertips together lightly, considering the man in front of her. "You know, you may not realise this, but you are damn lucky I found you first. Anyone else of the, no doubt, dozens of beings after your ass, and you probably wouldn't be breathing... at least not without the help of a machine."
"Now, first thing's first, I need to know how much you know about what our side is planning."

Harper had to bite his tongue to stop himself from laughing as Liana classified herself as a demon of her word. From what he had heard about demons many of them were anything but even in their own inner circles so he would be hard pressed to believe he would be walking out of this house in one piece.
"I'll try and count my blessings then," Harper muttered as Liana felt the need to point that he was apprently lucky she had sunk her claws into him first. Right about now he wasn't feeling very lucky...not in the least bit.
"I know everything about everything...in regards to everyone," Harper explained figuring he would cut to the chase.
He was waiting for it and knew it would come when she would demand he answer questions which no doubt would spill what the angels were planning and what not and then she would realize that Harper wasn;t as much of a push over as she would have first thought.

Liana shrugged at the sarcasm in his words. "Believe me or don't believe me, just be glad it wasn't the angels... now they are nasty pieces of work," she said, suppressing a shudder. The angels freaked her out, and she was a hard woman to freak out.
"Everything about everything," Liana repeated, leaning forward in her seat and resting her chin in her hands. "Well that's specific. But I guess that sums it all up. How you've managed to survive this long is beyond me though, well done."
She could almost feel the air in the room grow tense with anticipation. As a human, she knew Harper would not be particularly willing to disclose information about the angels. But she had ways of dealing with problems like that. First she would ask nicely and, in the likely event that that didn't work... well then she'd have some fun.
"And what, my dear Harper, do you know about what the angels are planning?"

Harper listened carefully as Liana went on to voice her opinion on the angels; though he was pretty sure it was because she was a demon. Just the same Harper knew that some of the angels could be just as brutal and that had why he had preferred to be found be nobody and just be left alone to himself...apprently life in general had other plans.
"I've been locked away in a mental ward it didn't take much effort," Harper replied. The truth was he didn't know how he had managed to stay under the radar...but then again he didn't know there had been a radar to stay under.
"And what, my dear Harper, do you know about what the angels are planning?"
Harper paused for several moments as the demons question hung in the air.
"...Everything about everything..." he offered up the same answer once again.
