Felicity wrinkled her nose when Bianca mentioned Starbucks. "Ew, yeah, don't go there," she laughed. "Over priced and not very good."
She shrugged at Bianca's comment about blindness being scary. "Being blind's not so bad. I mean, yeah, I guess it would have been worse if it had happened suddenly, but I was born with it so I've had plenty of time to adjust. And I usually notice things that most sighted people don't," she said. She moved her hand and pointed to the back of the bench they were sitting on. "Like that beetle walking towards you right now. Or that guy running past us, he's listening to System of a Down on his Mp3." She turned to Bianca, her blind eyes staring right at her, a smile on her face. "Just because my eyes don't work, doesn't mean I can't see."

"I just don't get what people's obsession with that place." Bianca frowned just at the thought of the taste. "I know some people who won't start their day without it."
For a moment, Bianca drifted out of the conversation. She'd become blind suddenly. Even if it had only been for a little while, it had been too long for her liking. And then the method in which it was remedied...... Well, it had worked, but.....
"Yeah, sudden blindness is-would be-scary." Bianca quickly corrected herself as she shook off the memory which always seemed to be laying just beneath the surface of her skin. "A what-?"
She spun around and sure enough, there was the beetle Flick had pointed out. She turned her head towards the sound of footsteps. She saw the man running, but she couldn't pick up the MP3.
"That is seriously impressive." She grinned back at the other girl. "You're picking up stuff I'd never notice."

Felicity heard the small correction Bianca made and frowned slightly, not quite understanding what she meant. But she shook her head and ignored it. Whatever it was, it didn't matter.
She smiled at Bianca's complement. "Thanks," she said. "That's my point. I see a lot of things most people don't." It was at that moment that Felicity felt someone, or something, hovering behind her. What? No, this is my time where you leave me alone, she thought angrily. She was happy to help restless spirits but that didn't mean she was a 24/7 ghost psychiatrist. She needed time for herself. Especially when she was having a relatively normal conversation for the first time in a long, long while.

Bianca was relieved Flick didn't press her on her mild slip up. There was no way she was going into details anyway.
And speaking of things others couldn't see, Bianca's eyes fell on a woman's spirit hovering just behind Flick. There seemed to be ghosts everywhere nowadays.
"Yeah, everyone has special gifts. Sometimes it just means they can pick up on things other people can't." Bianca's focused on the spirit who looked particuarly depressed. "Like, I don't think people realize that there are things all over this world that some people can see, but others can't. Having sight doesn't mean you pick up on everything."
Bianca wanted the ghost to go away. She wasn't in the mood. She didn't want another case right now. She needed a breather.

The ghost behind Felicity was making her uncomfortable. It was so close, and she could feel its sadness but she didn't particularly want to deal with the ghost right now. She sighed, trying to find a way to deal with it without making Bianca think she was completely insane. She could always play the blind card... although after finishing explaining that she can see pretty well regardless that would be hard to sell... oh well.
"Could whoever is standing behind me please go away," she said without turning around. "We can talk later."
As she felt the spirit move away she wondered if it sounded as crazy to Bianca as it had to her.

Bianca's eyes widened in amazement. While Felicity was blind, it seemed that she could see the same spirit Bianca could. She had to have seen-or known-about the spirit, because the spirit listened as she moved away from the other girl.
"How-." Bianca mouth came open, but the statement didn't didn't finish. She'd never, ever, met anyone else with the same type of gifts she had. And to find it in someone who had no natural sight seemed even more amazing.
"Could you see her too?" Bianca whispered, worried that anyone who might over hear their conversation would get intrigued and then dub them nuts.

"I didn't see her so much as..." she trailed off as Bianca's statement hit her. "You could see her?" she asked. To say she was surprised would have been an understatement. It wasn't everyday she met someone with her abilities.
"I don't think I've ever met anyone who could see them," she said. She suddenly realised she was speaking to loudly and lowered her voice to a whisper. "How long have you been able to see them?"
She stopped herself suddenly. "Sorry, that's none of my business."

Bianca felt sudden waves of excitement wash over her. If Flick could see them too, then it proved she wasn't crazy. She wanted to call her parents and tell them "so there!".
"It's all right." Bianca assured the other girl. "Really, it's fine. Everyone else I meet thinks I'm crazy."
She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. This was way too exciting, but she couldn't make herself look totally insane.
"I've been able to see them since I was a kid." Bianca told Felicity. "I can see them all over the place. It's crazy. Ghosts are everywhere. People don't realize how many there really are. Have you always been able to-? I mean-if you don't mind. Sorry, I've just never met anyone who doesn't think I'm crazy for seeing them.

"Well, If I'm not crazy, then you aren't," Felicity assured Bianca. "And Jamie and I are pretty sure I'm not crazy. So it's looking good for you."
"Um, the earliest memory I have of ghosts is when I was ten," she explained. "It's possible I saw them before that but I don't remember, I had other things to worry about." Like her parents murder and finding out her guardian hunted monsters... that was a lot to take in.
Felicity could barely contain her excitement. Someone else that shared her abilities. She hadn't thought she was unique or anything but it was still good to find someone who understood. Jamie was great but... he didn't really get it.

"Awesome." Bianca's smile spread across her entire face. She felt like a huge weight had been lifted off of her. She was finally being honest with someone who didn't think she needed to be committed.
"I was young." Bianca nodded when Flick said that she was 10 when she first started seeing ghosts. "I saw them in my bedroom. They were the people who'd died in a fire in our old house. Ever since, I've seen them pretty much everywhere."
"Is Jamie your brother?" She thought it might have been odd to call your father by his first name, but maybe it was a stepfather. Not that it was any of her business really.

"I met my first ghost in the gardens by my house," Felicity said. "I can't remember her story... I think she'd died in childbirth or something... she was nice though."
She'd always felt bad about not remembering the woman's story, of course in her defense she'd been ten and slightly in shock so she hadn't really thought to remember. But ever since then, she'd taken to writing them down, or rather, having Jamie write them down, so that they were never forgotten.
Felicity shook her head at Bianca's question. "Not technically," she explained. "I mean, he's not related to me at all, but he's the only family I've got so you could say that. He's my legal guardian, been looking after me since I was a kid."

Bianca nodded thoughtfully. She knew what it was like to remember seeing your first ghost. That was one of those experiences in your life that made you who you were in the end. After all, it wasn't an experience others got.
"Well, he must be a great person then. Sometimes even our own families don't want to deal with our gifts. Well, not saying that yours did, but mine certainly didn't."
Bianca really was half tempted to call her parents and leave them a message about her meeting with Flick. But they'd probably call a lawyer and have a restraining order put out against their crazy daughter who saw ghosts.

"He is a great person," Flick said, nodding. She didn't know what she'd do without him. "But what could he really say? Ever since he took charge of me he'd been telling me that ghosts and demons are real, all he could really do was accept - " Flick's stopped herself suddenly, her hand flying to her mouth and her eyes widening in fear. She hadn't meant to say that, if Bianca, or anyone for that matter, decided Jamie wasn't mentally stable because he believed in the monster under the bed she might never see him again. And that was something she couldn't handle.
She slowly pulled her hand away from her mouth and tried to slow her breathing until it was back to normal. "That didn't mean how it sounded..." she said lamely.

Bianca took note of the girl's change in demeanor, but she didn't really know what had brought it on. Not that she was going to question. She had tendencies to go into her own fits of memory that sent her into panic. She was no one to judge.
"Well, he's right." Bianca shrugged nonchalantly. "Parents like mine try to convince their kids that kind of stuff isn't real, but they're just misleading them. It is real, and the more people know about that stuff the better. Of course, not everyone buys that. Most people just think you're nuts. But with the hunting I do, I'm mixed up with enough people who believe in that it makes you feel better."
Bianca glanced across the park. There was another spirit-a little boy maybe about five-playing in some trees a few yards away from them. He seemed happy enough. Bianca wasn't going to go seek him out unless he came to her first.

Flick was relieved when Bianca said nothing about her slip up. She had to learn to remember to keep her mouth shut. She wasn't always this open with strangers, although Bianca sharing her gift made things a little different. But still...
As Bianca spoke about her belief in the other worldly, Flick felt silly. Of course Bianca wouldn't think she or Jamie was crazy, she dealt with the supernatural every day. She hadn't expected Bianca to mention hunting though. That was a surprise.
"You're a hunter?" she asked. She hadn't met many hunters other than Jamie, although she knew there were more than most people thought. Jamie liked to keep her away from most of the hunters he came across... something about recent malevolent psychic activity.
