Death was something that no matter how many times you went through it you never really got used to…then again it was death and most times people only went through it once…depending on what God you prayed to. Killian Reynolds had died far too many times now…far too many times and his chances to come back were starting to get a bit sparse and that did nothing for the nerves of someone who had never had to worry about dying and NOT coming back to do the whole sordid affair over again. But he had learned that it all hung on how he died…or as his latest venture would prove how he was killed. Killian was rather proud of his record of only being out right murdered once…and that one didn’t much count since it had been his original death…that record had been broken into a million pieces when Alexis London had come into his life. Since he had met Alexis he had died not once but twice…and both times had been far more brutal and painful then Killian cared to deal with.
There was nothing when he died…it was simply lights out until the next scene came up but it was never an easy transition to go from being dead to not so dead in a matter of seconds.
Killian’s body jerked upwards as he gasped down a mouthful of air before painfully coughing it back out; his body curling into a ball as he lay on his side and swatted the blanket that had been used to cover him away. He blinked owlishly as his eyes focused and he sorted out that he had been laid out and covered up on a couch…and by the looks of the couch it would have belonged to Alexis London…if she was even still alive.
Killian managed to sit up his hand going directly up to his neck as the memories of the last few moments of his last life came crashing down around him. Finding the skin beneath his hands completely intact and nothing out of place save for the blood dried to the once grey shirt and the blood caked into his blonde hair. For all intensive purposes he was back to being good as new.
He stared down at the blood that stained his clothes and couldn’t help but recall the savage turn the meeting with Gardener had taken. He was really starting to hate vampires…a lot.

Alexis woke up in a tangle of chenille blanket and hair. In fact, as her eyes first opened, it was damn near impossible to see anything save for blanket fringe and her hair which was matted over her eyes.
She tried to wake herself up. She felt like hell. It wasn't as bad as a dead man's blood kind of hell, but it was still pretty bad. Alexis slowly untangled her left hand, which had been cradling her injured right against her chest. The hand was throbbing through its bandages. She had no idea how long it would take to heal.
Alexis sat on the foot of the bed and rubbed her eyes with her left hand. She'd awoken once in the time since she'd moved Killian upstairs. That had barely been long enough to change into a pair of silvery-gray yoga pants and a white tank top with faint silver embroidery around the neckline. She wondered if Killian was alive-or still dead-or whatever it was he came to.
Pushing herself up from the bed, Alexis made a half hearted attempt at making her way to the living room. She didn't make it. Flipping on the light in the bathroom, she stared at her reflection for a few moments before turning on the water in the sink and letting her head fall into it.

Killian sat in the silence of the livingroom for several minutes attempting to convince himself that Alexis was infact alive...she had to be as he was pretty sure Gardener would have just left his body and the floor and anyone else wouldn't have left a 2 days dead body up in their second floor livingroom. Or at least he hoped that was what had happened. He could come back which slightly made dying not nearly as bad but the last time he had checked when Dracula was dead he stayed...ok that was a bad example but when a normal vampire died they stayed dead.
Finally feeling as though he had the strength to stand for more then 10 seconds Killian made way to push himself off of the couch; but in the process he only managed to entangle himself in the sheet which had been covering him and slammed none too gently on to the ground pain flaring through his arm as it attempted to break his fall.
Surprising to himself most of all he didn't holler and cuss or anything he merely stared down at the blood splattered sheet and for the first time in a long time felt utterly defeated. He hadn't been alive for more then a handful of minutes and this lfie was proving to simply pick up right where the other one had left off. Pulling his knees up against his chest Killian sat slumped against the couch he had been laid out on the silence enveloping him again once more but only bringing about feelings of anger and frusturation.
He needed to get clean; and if Alexis wasn't around he needed to get out of the hsop before whoever it was came back but he didn't have the strength...or more like it the desire to do anything more then sit curled up against the couch his eyes staring blankly down at the floor.

Alexis heard noise in the living room. The action caused her to jerk her head upwards, which caused it to collide with the facet.
"Son of b!tch!" Alexis pulled back, pressing her left hand to her head. "Hell."
She shut the water off. Her hair was soaked in the front. Beads of water dripped down her face, giving the effect that Alexis had either been caught in a great rain storm or sobbing her eyes out. The second feature was getting more likely.
Alexis spun around. She swung her arms and in one motion wiped all of her makeups, perfumes and other beauty products off the counter. The containers hit the floor, crashing against the tiles. Alexis sunk down to the floor opposite it. She buried her face in her arms.
So this was what life brought for a vampire who didn't want to kill humans. She couldn't make friends with humans, because no other vampire would let them live. Her human boyfriend was away-and it was probably for the best because the other vampires would have killed him. What kind of life was this? Alexis didn't really want to die, but she was pretty sick of being a vampire.
Remembering the sound in the living room, Alexis figured it was Killian reanimating. Getting up, she headed towards the living room. Sure enough, Killian was seated on the living room floor looking as defeated as she felt.
For a moment, she did nothing but stare at him. Then she crossed the room, dropped down and embraced the man.

Killian tensed as he heard someone make their way into the room but he felt relieved when he saw that it was Alexis who stood in the doorway looking no less miserable then when he had last seen her...nice to know things hadn't changed since he had been dead. Killian kept his eyes locked on Alexis as she seemed to stare at him silently.
Killian tensed as the next thing he knew Alexis was holding him in an embrace. He had no idea what to do or say so he simply eld his sielnce but enjoyed the connection even if it technically was with a vampire.
"If I keep hanging around you...I'm gonna run out of lives," Killian whispered his vocie sounding distant and filled with an unspoken hurt. He had attempted to protect himself with sarcasm but his voice was giving away how crest fallen he truley felt.
Killian wrapped his arms around Alexis in return and rested his head against her his eyes closed for a moment as he attempted to push away the thoughts and feelings which assulted him. So far he wa failing at this game but he was too tired to care he just wanted to be done with it.

Alexis took in Killian's embrace for a few silent moments. She was amazed at how well accustomed she'd become to the scent of humans without wanting to kill them. Even though Killian was at the moment covered with dried blood, Alexis was ok with that.
"You'd be lucky if you did." She murmured in response to his statement about running out of lives. Alexis pulled back and leaned against the sofa. Turning her head, she looked at Killian for a long moment. He really would be better off if he got away from her. He'd have better luck taking his chances then.
A sudden thought occured to Alexis. She still had the weapons Jon had given her on their first meeting. A sick feeling crept through her. Alexis didn't like what she was thinking, but it might have been best.
She got up from the living room floor and returned to the bedroom. From the nightstand drawer, she pulled out the gun Jon had given her for protection.
Protecting Killian from myself-same thing. She tried to ration out what she was thinking.
Returning to the living room, she sat down on the floor in front of Killian and placed the gun between them.
"Here." She pushed it towards him. "It's half silver, half iron. One of those will kill me."
She met his eyes intently. It wasn't her first choice of how to handle the situation, but it was one that would work in the long run.

Killian watched curiously as Alexis got up from the couch and disappeared he had now idea where she had gone off too he was just glad she was still in the land of the living...or well the land of the undead which was close enough. Killian's eyes widened considerably as Alexis returned with a gun; he was about to protest that he was really ok with not going through his remaining lives just yet...and in that fashion when he heard her speak.
"It's half silver, half iron. One of those will kill me."
For the first time in a very very very long time Killian Reynolds was at a loss for words.
"What the hell am I supposed to do with that?!" Killian asked incredously as he stared from the gun back up to Alexis.
"Because I know you're not asking me to kill you right?!" Killian asked his vocie borderling on hysterics as he pushed himself up and away from Alexis. Killian paced the small space of the livingroom for several moments; running a hand through his hair and immediately regretting it as it was still caked with blood Killian turned around to glare at Alexis.
"I'm a lot of things Alexis...a lot of things but I'm not a killer."

Killian was clearly less than ok with what she was suggesting. Interesting. In all of this, he couldn't kill a vampire?
"All right, relax." Alexis got to her feet. "Killian, I'm a vampire. I'm not saying you're a killer, but my kind is. I may have stopped, but the others haven't. I'm just saying that maybe if you took care of me, and then Marisolla Ledeara....and then Gardener.....that things might be safer for you."
Alexis paced back and forth across the oriental rug on the living room floor. She was frustrated with the entire situation. She didn't want to cross Gardener again, and she wasn't inclined to see Marisolla again. She was half tempted to deal with her bad luck, but that would probably mean she'd never see Jon again.
"It's not my first choice either. But it's an option. Killian, I wouldn't blame you if you did."

"It's not an option!" Killian snapped back his eyes locking on Alexis's once more clearly showing the hurt he felt in regards to her request.
"And I know what you are Alexis...we've been through that whole introduction process as I'm sure neither one of us has forgotten," Killian muttered before forcing himself to sit back down on the coach he had only alid dead upon a few minutes prior. Not even 10 minutes into it and this life was amking all sort of headway towards competing with the last one...which was saying something since that one had only lasted 2 weeks.
"And just another point...what about my last run in with your friend makes you think I could even give him a paper cut?" Killian asked bitterly.
He glared down at the gun which now lay at his feet and kicked it away from him in disgust. Alexis was the only person in over 300 years who knew what he truley was and who he would be willing to classify as a friend.

Alexis folded her arms across her chest and momentarily sulked. It wasn't that she wanted Killian to her-that wasn't the case at all. It was just that she felt like she was totally out of options.
"I'm just saying." She grumbled, sinking back down onto the couch beside Killian. "I'm sorry, ok? I didn't really want you to....I just don't know what else to do."
Alexis stared at the dark fireplace for a long moment. She didn't want to do anything except sit in this room and watch soap operas for as long as the world continued to exist. How much bad luck could a person really have in their own living room if they never left the sofa?
"We were stupid at how we went into Gardener." She muttered into Killian's response. "I should have known better. I should have had the gun down there. We both should have been armed-not just you. And far more heavily."
Alexis reached for the television remote control and flipped it on. Scanning through a few channels, she settled on Home and Garden.
"If you come up with a plan, let me know. I'm out. I'm staying right here until-I don't know. Until the Apocalypse."

"If you come up with a plan, let me know. I'm out. I'm staying right here until-I don't know. Until the Apocalypse."
Killian stayed silent for several moments as he stared absently down at his feet. The blood on his jeans was randome enough to hold his attention. They had to come up with a plan that didn't involve Gardener because Killian was pretty sure that the vampire hadn't shared any more knowledge with Alexis before he had taken his leave.
As Killian continued to think his hand absently began to pick the pieces of dried blood from his hair...it was a rather disgusting past time when you thought about it.
"Do you think the other vampire...the one that changed Mary and then...divorced her? Would be of any help?" Killian asked as he continued to pick at his hair.
If they were lucky...which they weren't this other vampire would be a lot less violent and a lot more helpful.
"Do you know something about him...so maybe this time around I can leave a meeting breathing?" Killian asked the bitterness showing through in his voice ever so slightly. Killian stared down at the flakes of blood which now scattered across the knee of his jeans and his blood stained hand and grimaced.
"Ok that's gross," he muttered attempting to brush the blood off but not exactly sure how to go about it without Alexis ringing his neck.

Alexis stared at the rerun of Design on a Dime that ran in front of her. She barely picked up on Killian's words as she attempted to forget about the situation and keep focused on the TV.
"I think I know the name." Alexis changed the channel and pretended to be fascinated with the Weather Channel. "I don't know him personally, but I'm pretty sure I heard his name tossed about a few times."
Marisolla's name Alexis hadn't know, but her husband's was familiar. She thought she remembered a vampire named Louis who'd met him once in England.
"Last I heard his name, he was in England. I don't know he's going to jump through hoops to fly to the US and-. What are you doing?"
Alexis finally let her gaze leave the TV and saw Killian flicking dried blood all over himself.
"Quit that!" She shot him a harsh look. "Blood stains." She got up from the couch and went into the bathroom. Grabbing a towel in her uninjured hand, she headed back to the couch and threw it over Killian's head.
"Get cleaned up, and change your clothes." She settled herself back onto the couch and flipped through the channels again until she found an episode of the Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network.

"and-. What are you doing?"
Killian's attention snapped back up to Alexis almost like he was a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Attempting to brush the blood off on his blood stained jeans was not a productive plan but he tried it anyways.
"Nothing..." he muttered under his breath.
"Blood stains," Killian muttered in a mocking tone as Alexis left the room in search of God only knew what. While she was gone Killian allowed his eyes travel over himself as best he could...he was a mess...again. There was blood everywhere; the only consoling fact was that Killian knew the skin underneath was fine...once again but that of course would run out eventually too.
"Hey!" Killian complained as Alexis tossed a towel over his head. Pulling the towel off of his head Killian stared back at Alexis for a moment they ahd had this whole conversation once before.
"Same place?" Killian asked motioning towards where he had been sent to take a shower once before.
Standing up and attempting not not get blood specks everywhere Killian stared down at his shoes for a moment the familiarity of htis whole scenario bringing up emotions he didn't care for but he attempted to swallow them down just the same.
"I need new clothes...again."

Alexis ignored Killian's protests as she dropped back down onto the couch. She was too tired for her life. Her head turned towards him as he asked about the shower.
"Yeah, same-. Shit. Wait." Alexis jumped up from the couch as she remembered the cosmetics which were all over the floor from her earlier fit. Going into the bathroom, she collected the largest pieces from the floor with her good hand before grabbing a small dust pan and broom from under the sink. Quickly, she swept up the remaining particles so that Killian didn't slice up his feet.
"I'll grab you some clothes." Alexis told him as she came back into the room. "At the rate you're going, you might as well just keep your own shampoo here."
She threw herself back onto the sofa for a moment and studied Killian. She felt bad for him. He kept getting himself screwed over because of her.
"I'll call, what was his name? Ryden? I think I know some sources I can get his contact information from. I'll talk to him. Then we'll see if we can go from there. This might cost me a plane ticket from England."

Killian watched curiously as Alexis scrambeled out of the room he figured he probably didn;t want to know so he stayed put and watched all be it with very little interest at some cooking show Alexis had put on the televeision...and then he busted out laughing. A vampire...who couldn't eat...was watching a cooking show...there were things in life he wish he had someone to share them with because sometimes they were too damn funny.
"At the rate you're going, you might as well just keep your own shampoo here."
Killian turned his eyes back to Alexis as she busteled back into the room and he thought about her statement for awhile. He had spent the last 300 plus years moving from hotel to motel to hostel never really "living" anywhere for a long period of time because after a certain span of time people begin to wonder why the 17 year old doesn;t "grow-up"...literally.
"I could move my stuff here...it's only a trunk of random things someone picks up over the span of 300 years...and clothes...and I don't take up much space...we won't have to worry about me eating your food cause yeah...your food is far to rare for my taste..." Killian continued his eyes growing wide and he did a rather poor attempt at hiding the excitement behind his voice.
He had not had a home...a solid place to go home to at night for 300 years. But hell ALexis had been the only one who knew what he truley was.
"I mean if you wanted me around...had space or what not...I didn't mean to move myself in or what not...I think I'll go grab that shower and you can just stack the clothes outside of the door..." Killian said quickly cutting himself and walking out of the room and towards the bathroom without another word.
