Alexis had settled herself into a table in the far corner of the outdoor patio of the Albatross Cafe. She wanted to be outside in the springtime, but out of the sunshine. She had secured a table under an awning, so that as well as her black straw hat were keeping the sun off of her.
She'd needed to call Killian Reynolds for the fact that since their last meeting, life had gotten profoundly weird. Jon was away, which was probably safest since Gardener had reared his slimy head. While that was bad, the rest of her luck had been somewhat worse.
A small fire in the store had ignited the sprinkler systems, destroying several hundred dollars worth of merchandise. Someone had keyed her car. She'd managed to break every nail she had-one far enough down to tear skin. A dinner party the other night had resulted in a drunken house guest breaking six of her favorite wine glasses. Her entire weekend in the country for feeding had resulted in pouring rain and mud. Alexis knew bad things came in threes, but not multiple sets of them.
Alexis stirred the straw in the glass of decaffeinated ice tea which was posed in front of her for show. This luck had started nearly as soon as she'd recovered from the other vampire's dead man's blood. She did not believe in coincidence, and this was just too much. Since Killian had once known this woman, he seemed like a reasonable place to start.
Alexis lowered her sunglasses and scanned the crowd. Glancing down at her watch, she determined she was far too early for this meeting. Alexis pulled out her phone and checked for messages. She wanted one from Jon, but she knew he was probably too busy right now.

Killian hadn’t been the least but amused to get the message from Alexis London declaring they needed to meet up. He had made it a healthy habit to steer clear of the vampire since the last time he had hunted her out which had only followed the first time they had met…where she murdered him. But he hadn’t been doing anything else and it had sounded rather urgent so he agreed; with the luck he had been having lately he would end up dead…again before the meeting anyways so why bother worrying about actually making it anyways.
It seemed as if life had turned to shit the moment he had jetted from Alexis’s store. He had hoped he could have put the whole Mary and Alexis and everything behind him avoiding things was what he did best he in truth he hadn’t thought much about it…mostly because his life had been a living hell. What with crashing his motorcycle, getting into not 1 but 2 bar fights…none of which he actually started, walking into a pole and almost drowning in the bathtub he had certainly had better lives. He had contemplated offing himself and starting out with a new one but with lives getting few and far between he had opted for toughing it out…besides if his luck got any worse he would be dead soon enough any how.
Killian immediately spotted Alexis sitting at the café she had instructed to meet him at and Killian made his way over to her. He pulled out a chair and slumped down into it pulling off his sunglasses to reveal a rather nasty looking black eye.
“You Alexis London are to me what the Black Plague was to England…just so were clear,” Killian stated as he leaned back in his chair and stared back at the vampire wondering what exactly she had wanted him for.

Alexis watched as Killian made his way towards the table. She watched him drop into a chair and remove his sunglass. At the exposure of his eye, Alexis lowered her own sunglasses. The boy was sporting a nasty looking black eye. Maybe it was a good thing for both of them that she'd called.
"Good to see you again too." She grumbled at his greeting. Clearly, they were both trying to forget both times they'd been together as neither had turned out well.
"What happened to you?" She motioned to his face. "Don't tell me it was another run in with your friend from the past life."
Alexis was almost hoping it would have been, that way she could have sought out the other vampire and taken her down. She had half a mind to ask Gardener what he knew of this woman, but the less time she spent with him the better.

“Always a joy,” Killian grumbled back sarcastically. It never seemed to fail that whenever he was in the same room or general area with Alexis life went to shit rather rapidly so it was only a matter of time before a comet struck the café table they were sitting at or some other epic wonder which was bound to occur.
“Oh this?” Killian asked making a dismissive motion towards the molted skin around his eye that would seemingly never heal since every time it started to he managed to find himself in yet another predicament that was more than happy to help it along to its former state of play.
“Oh it’s a honed skill by now really…started by a biker having a bad day…met in the middle by a pool stick to the head and most recently egged on by me running none to gently into a pole,” Killian explained as he stared back at her his un-amusement coming through in droves.
“Mary? Nooo my luck hasn’t gone that far to hell yet I would first need to be plowed down by a cement truck,” Killian grumbled as he grabbed the drink which was sitting in front of Alexis.
“You mind?” He asked not waiting for an answer before he took a drink from the glass. She wasn’t going to drink from it anyways.

Alexis rolled her eyes. Killian was not hard to read when he was unhappy. And from the sounds of things, she didn't blame him.
"Well, your luck's been about as stunning as mine." She watched his hand move across the table to the glass. "You realize there's vampire saliva on there, right?"
Not that this was a harmful fluid, but Killian didn't need to know that. If it freaked him out, Alexis would at least get about two seconds of entertainment. But the awning would probably fall on them first.
"Yes, Mary. The one's who's responsible for this." Alexis tossed her hair off of her neck, showing a red and purple bruise that hadn't gone away. "And God sake's, don't tempt luck. At the rate things are going, a cement truck will show up."
Alexis shook her head. She was more than disguested with Mary whoever she was.
"Look, I'll cut to the chase: did you notice that our lives have been miserable since that woman came into the picture?"

“Oh it’s been absolutely ravishing,” Killian muttered bitterly as he took a drink from the glass which had been Alexis’s and that he had now commandeered for himself.
Killian spit was little of the tea he had managed to drink back into the glass as Alexis declared that there was vampire spit on it. He hadn’t a clue as to what the hell that would do to him but he really didn’t care to find out.
“What the hell are you doing licking ti for then?!” Killian snapped back setting the glass back on the table and and brushing his hand over his mouth attempting to clean his lips…which in doing so he managed to knock over the glass of tea all over his pants and the table.
Clenching his eyes shut for a moment Killian attempted to focus on breathing and not beating the table into oblivion. Every second that went by made killing himself and ending this shit round more and more appealing.
“No correction…ever since you walked into my life…life has been miserable…don’t sell yourself short,” Killian growled out as he snatched the towel out of the waiter’s hand and attempted to clean himself off.

Alexis laughed. Killian's reaction was perfect, she couldn't have asked for better in a million years.
"I have to make it look believable. Gets a little suspicious when people don't even make an attempt at trying their drink. Besides, it won't hurt you."
Her amusement was cut short as she was forced to push her chair back to save any potential threat of tea on the silk of her blue and purple dress. Not that it would have been one of the first pieces of her wardrobe ruined in the last few days. The heel had snapped clean off a pair of thousand dollar shoes just the day before.
"I'm always pleased when I can at least make an impact." Alexis sighed, reaching back to twirl her hair as Killian attempted to clean spilled tea off of himself.
"No use crying over spilled tea, is there?" Alexis had barely made the statement when a bus boy walked by carrying a tray of glasses. One half full with some type of pink smoothie looking drink tipped sideways, pouring down the front of the dress she'd been protecting a few minutes earlier.
"Fantastic." Alexis grabbed the washcloth the horrified young man had managed to offter out to her.

Alexis laughed and Killian rightfully glared back at her.
"Glad you're amused," Killian muttered as he contin ued to clean up the spilled tea that was \ all over him.
Killian couldn't help but snicker as a waiter dropped some nasty looking pink concotion down the front of Alexis's dress.
"That would be a fck you from karma...by the way," Killian statedly happily as he watched Alexis attempt to clean away the drink from her dress. He leaned back slightly in his chair and without the least bit of warning the chair tilted backward sending Killian crashing to the floor with a string of curse words following him.
"So you were saying about life turning to shit?" Killian muttered as he attempted to right the chair.

"Karma and I gave up having anything to do with each other decades ago." Alexiss grumbled, more intent on attempting to clean up the sticky mess formulating on her dress with each passing second.
Her head shot up at the crash in front of her. Killian was now laying on the ground, tangled with his chair.
"I'm sorry, what was that you were saying about karam?" Alexis lowered her sunglasses to raise her eyebrows at him. Tossing the cloth back onto the table, she dubbed her dress in need of dry cleaners help.
Just than her cell phone beeped in her purse. Pulling it out, Alexis glanced at it.
1 new msg from Clinton
Damn, not Jon. Oh well. Alexis flipped the phone open and hit view on the display panel. Suddenly, the phone's screen fuzzed, blinked yellow, then faded to black.
"What the-?" Alexis tapped the phone on her hand. The action only resulted in the antenna falling out into her palm.
"Well," she said, dropping the phone onto the table, "guess I'm going to Verizon on the way home. Look, my life was at least decent before your friend stumbled into it-so what the hell did she do?"

"That it's a bitch," Killian muttered as he planted the chair properly back down before taking his seat. Grabbing another napkin he cleaned up the blood which dripped from a gash the fall had created on his elbow.
"Leave us together much longer and we'll self combust and save luck the chance at killing us..." Killian muttered cleaning the wound.
"How am I supposed to know what the hell Mary did?! I haven;t seen her in over 300 years until she showed up at YOUR store."
And that was the God's honest truth Killian had made it a very good habbit to not allow the elements of his first life mix at all with what would occur in the lives he made after that, it kept everything clean and situated.
"Friggin witch now anyways she probably put a curse on us," Killian muttered as he tossed down the napkin and inspected the wound slightly figuring that was the best it was going to get especially since it would probably get infected anyways with his luck.
His eyes widened though as he took in his own words. Maryhad told him that she had soent years putting curses on the people of Salem to make them pay for what had happened there...could it be possible?
"Can you be cursed?!" Killian asked his eyes wide.

Alexis's head snapped forward as a very familiar scent hit her senses. Her eyes fixed on the blood on Killian's arm. It was her first real she'd been exposed to human blood since the morning with Jon. She took a deep breath.
"Just an FYI, you might want to cover that." Alexis nodded towards the wound. "Or got get yourself something with garlic in it. Or coffee, for that matter. I hate both."
Pushing her chair back, Alexis tried to distract herself from the fact that the human across from her now had an open wound.
"There's no reason I can't." Alexis muttered in response to his question. "Curses can be put on any beings as far as I know."
The thought crossed her mind again-Gardener. She could ask him. Turning her head away from Killian's bleeding arm, Alexis sighed.
"There's someone I know we could ask for information on her. But I'll warn you-he's extremely dangerous. He makes me look like a kitten."

Killian had been fussing with the wound along his elbow until he heard Alexis's very serious tone and stared down at the blood speckled napkin...oh shit.
He hadn't even thought about her being a friggin vampire and him just bleeding all over the place.
"Please don't bite me," Killian offered with not the faintest bit of jest as he covered the wound on his arm with the napkin and attempted to manuever his arm out of sight. He really didn't feel like going through being killed by a vampire again any time soon.
"Awesome...more vampires," Killian muttered as he stared past Alexis and at the passing people.
"She cursed us...it's apprently what she does now she sits in her shop in Salem and just curses people an dapprently we pissed her off!"

Alexis felt her head pulsing and she knew it was a direct result of fighting back the desire to do what was natural. She pressed her fingers against her temple and told herself she could fight this.
Just once....once won't hurt.
You'll kill him.
It's your thing, that's what you do....
"Oh believe me, I don't want to." Alexis looked up at Killian. "Get yourself some coffee-now. That scent is killing me."
Alexis slumped back in her seat and glanced around. A waiter with a coffee pot was at a nearby table. She motioned him over before flipping the mugs in front of her and Killian over. The waiter smiled, approached the table and poured the dark liquid into the cups.
That did it. The scent of coffee washed out the scent of blood. Now instead of feeling like she was going to rip Killian's head off, she felt like she was going to puke. But that was a sensation she was used to.
"Yeah, more vampires. And Gardener's a mess. Seriously, there's not many worse out there than him. He hates everyone. He only turns women, but he'll kill anyone he can get his hands on. However he's been around for centuries, so he might be able to help if Mary's been lurking out in the supernatural world for years."
Alexis tossed her hair back and pushed her cup away from her. She really hated coffee.
"Here's the deal: we can head up to Salem, sort out your buddy. Or, I can drop Gardener a line, we can hit him up for some info, see what we're dealing with. Think about it. Things didn't go so great with Mary-but with Gardener, you're going to need more than a couple cups of coffee to keep Gardener from tearing your throat out in Time's Square."

Killian stared back at Alexis the slightest hint of worry across his face as he took in the look which flashed across her…a look which read like she was debating whether or not to kill him. He had never been good at reading people but he was pretty sure he had nailed it this time.
As Alexis requested coffee Killian made the motion towards the waiter at the exact same time and he was rather pleased that at least the guy had come over to them and poured the mugs; obviously there luck wasn’t that bad if they could manage the small things like Alexis not ripping him to shreds again.
“Awesome…you were totally gonna kill me…” Killian muttered as he watched Alexis settle slightly and he grabbed the cup of coffee in front of him and drank from it for some reason not expecting it to be the temperature of molten lava and he jerked the cup away from his mouth only in succeeding in spilling the coffee all over himself.
Killian’s entire body froze as the cup clattered back to the table and he clenched his eyes shut for a moment not daring to move for fear he would lose his mind and start killing people…not that it was a normal habit to do such a thing but he had had about enough of life in general. Killian’s eyes snapped open as the waiter rushed over to the table and started to clean the spilt coffee off of Killian’s hands and arms and he quickly grabbed the napkin out of her hand.
“Don’t… touch me,” he managed to grit out as he attempted to clean himself up. His skin was red and irritated where the coffee had hit him but he didn’t really care anymore he was over it.
“…we can head up to Salem…”
Killian’s attention snapped back to Alexis and he all but pierced her clean through with his eyes.
“I’m not going back to Salem. Not now and not ever,” Killian snapped his tone much darker then he thought he had ever used but he would not step foot in that town again it was too much that it had already come banging down his door.

"I wasn't-and I didn't." Alexis growled, turning her eyes to focus on Killian. The minor relief which had settled over her was immediately removed as Killian poured coffee all over himself.
"Oh for crying out-." Alexis sighed heavily. Killian's arms were red, but at least he was capable of cleaning himself up. She pushed her fingers through her hair and shook her head at the table.
"Ok, ok, no Salem." Alexis raised one hand. "Fine. We won't go. But I hate the way my luck is going right now and I do want it to change. This just means one thing."
Alexis raised her head and immediately looked away from Killian. She didn't want to say what she was about to. But apparently, they had no choice right now.
"I guess we call Gardener then." Alexis looked back at Killian. "He might be able to clear up some questions."
Only problem was Gardener was going to want something in return. Alexis knew whatever it was, she was not going to like it.
