Killian had promised to try and get some sleep and he would be the first to admitt that trying for about 15 minutes didn;t really count but he had spent a damn near 2 hours tossing and turning until he was certain he was going to use teh gun Lex had given him for Gardener and shoot the shit out of the bed. SO in order to save the mattress and his samity Killian had pulled his jeans on and shrugged into his jacket and after leaving Alexis a message he knew she wouldn't be pleased to hear he made his way intot eh New York night.
Being New York the city was just as active as it would have been in the middle of the day which helped make Killian feel more comfortable. The gun felt heavy in his waistband but just the same it felt nice to be able to get lost within the world of the city. He had no real place he was headed but if he managed not to run into Gardener and his new Vamp bride he would call it a win. Even with this new turn of events Killian knew they would still be on their way to Salem soon and that would mean an entire new set of nasty memories were on the horizion and that didn't make him feel any better what so ever.
Before he realized it Killian found himself sitting on the steps of Flicks house. There was soemthing about her that made him feel comfortable even if he had only spent a short amount of time with her but just the same Killian knew he had to be careful even though the matter of Flick's blindness solved the problem of her not realizing he didn't age that didn;t fix the whole other problem of he would if he lived that long eventually have to watch her die and he wasn't sure that was soemthing he was ok with.
Glancing down at his watch which showed 2:33...it was late or well it was early but just the same Killian figured maybe...just maybe his luck wouldn't be utter shit and she owuld be awake...in the middle of the night...
So Killian knocked and waited.

Flick's dreams were blurred and messy, and she didn't really understand them. She saw who she imagined was Jamie on his stupid island, with people she couldn't really see. She saw her parents... or who she assumed were her parents, she didn't really know what they looked like so she wasn't sure. But mostly it was vague colours and confusion. Sometimes she hated dreaming. If she couldn't see anything during the day, why did she have to see weirdness at night? It would just be much easier if she could be blind all the time.
There was a dull knocking in the back of her mind, but it was the barking that woke her. She sat straight up in her bed, and put her hand out to the side to pet Rudi's head and calm him down, but he had bolted from the room and down the stairs to greet whoever it was at the door. Flick frowned, she couldn't tell what time it was exactly, but she knew it was late... or early... it wasn't day light outside yet... so who the hell could be at the door?
Sighing, and wanting to get the dog to be quiet, Flick slid out of the bed, grabbed her cane from it's place against the bedside table and made her way downstairs, sliding down the banister to avoid tripping down the stairs.
"Shut up, Rudi," she mumbled as she reached for the door handle. The dog growled lightly but did as he was told, sitting back on his hind legs and waiting for Flick to open the door. She did so, and tilted her head as she tried to get a feel for who was in front of her. She smiled as she felt the unmistakable aura of death... but not death. "Killian," she said, grabbing Rudi's colour roughly as the dog stood and growled loudly at Killian. "What are you doing here?"

Killian decided he would give himself until the count of 20 until he left the doorstep that way he could convince himself that he ,ade an effort and Flick was just simply asleep and he had gotten to about the count of 5 before a rather mad torrent of barks sounded from the other side of the door.
"Jesus Christ," Killian muttered looking around worried that the dog was loud enough to wake the whole damn island. Killian attempted to listen carefully to see if he heard anything else to go with the mad barks and after a few moments he could swear he heard a vocie from inside which meant either Flick was up or he was about to come face to face with a less then pleased guardian.
Killian stood up straighter as the door pulled open.
"Killian...What are you doing here?"
Killian smiled slightly as Flick answered the door but it quickly slipped from his face as he eyed the rather unpleasent looking dog which stood by her side looking as if it wanted to rip his skin from his bones. He never really did well with dogs and he couldn't really figure out why...cats either for that matter they usually puffed up like cotton balls and hissed up an ever lovin storm around him.
"Pissing off your dog apprently," Killian replied with a faint smile though he was rather certain the dog meant business.

"Pissing off your dog apprently,"
Flick frowned down at Rudi. "Yeah... don't worry about him, he's just overprotective..." Although he usually was a little more subtle about it, Flick thought, tugging hard on Rudi's collar, forcing the dog into a sitting position. The dog yelped at the sudden force but was otherwise unharmed, and returned to keeping a close eye on Killian, though his reprimand had made him keep silent.
"Come in," she said, using her leg to press Rudi up against the door frame and out of Killian's reach, and waved him inside. "I'll kick the dog out," she added. "He could probably do with some fresh air anyways." Rudi had started pushing back against her leg and she forced him back, wondering what the hell had gotten into him. Yes, he was a guard dog, but he was usually pretty obedient and, once he realised there was no threat, the most loveable dog on the planet. It took her a moment to realise that Rudi must have been able to feel the same thing about Killian that she could. He wasn't quite right. Well, the Rottweiler was just going to have to get over it, wasn't he?
"But seriously, what are you doing here at ridiculous o'clock in the morning?" she didn't have to know the exact time to know it was an odd time to be recieving guests.

"Yeah... don't worry about him, he's just overprotective..."
"Or a man eater," Killian offered up with a slightly uncomfortable smile as he didn't allow his eyes to leave the rather large dog whom he was pretty sure could tear his throat out if it wanted to.
Killian made his way into the flat as Flick wresteled with the dog for a few moments. Yeah he was pretty certain the dog would have been extremley pleased with Killian splattered on the floor.
"But seriously, what are you doing here at ridiculous o'clock in the morning?"
And there was the million dollar question.
Killian was pretty certain "Oh well you know I almost got eaten by vampires tonight...again. And the nearest thing I have to family about died and I didn't really want to sleep since I am pretty close to staying dead permanetly and that scares the shit out of me..." wouldn't have been a good response.
The truth...yes...but not a good response just the same.
"Late?...It's not late my clock says its...9:30 in the morning...just you know stopped by to see if you um...wanted a bagel?"
Nice lie to the blind chick...

"Or a man eater,"
"Only when necessary," Flick said calmly, finally getting Rudi out the door and slamming it behind him. She heard his rather less than impressed growl as he lay down on the porch outside. So, he really didn't like Killian. Interesting to know.
"Late?...It's not late my clock says its...9:30 in the morning...just you know stopped by to see if you um...wanted a bagel?"
Flick folded her arms across her chest and turned her blank eyes on him. She was blind, not stupid and was fairly certain that if she went up to the clock in the living room and felt the position of it's hands it would be close to three in the morning, rather than half past nine. And she couldn't smell bagels either.
"Yes, Killian, I love invisable bagels." She shook her head at him before smiling and gesturing for him to follow. She didn't actually need her cane at the moment, which was why she held it above the ground rather than tapping it. she knew her way around her house without having to whack things out of her way. She had only grabbed the cane out of habit.
She lead the way into the kitchen and started sifting through cupboards, using her hands and her nose to figure out what was available to eat. She was awake now and Killian had mentioned something about bagels. And now she was starving.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me why you're really here," she assured him. "Not if you don't want to tell me. But if you're going to offer bagels while you lie, at least actually bring them. Hungry?"

Killian cringed slightly as Flick crossed her arms across her chest and Killian now knew without a shadow of a doubt that his lying skills needed to be worked on as he apprently had gotten rusty during these months of being killed and telling the truth.
"Yes, Killian, I love invisable bagels."
Instead of protesting Killian just followed after Flick as she made her way through the flat and into the kitchen.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me why you're really here. Not if you don't want to tell me. But if you're going to offer bagels while you lie, at least actually bring them. Hungry?"
Flick had a way of making Killian feel like shit for lying without even trying...or at least he didn't think she was trying. Either way he felt like hell for lying to her about why he had shown up at her doorstep.
"Sorry..." Killian muttered as he pulled himself up on to one of the stools in the kitchen as Flick fished around in the cupboards.
"My um...."
Well hell he couldn't exactly explain that Alexis was his vampire BFF...
"My um...my gaurdian her douchebag of an ex came by and had a blood bath and I didn't much feel like sticking around to get my throat torn out again so I went for a walk and ended up here...I can go if you want?...I didn't mean to wake you up...or lie about invisible bagels," Killian explained as close to the truth as he dared get.

Flick wrinkled her nose as Killian explained, more or less, how he had ended up on her doorstep in the early hours of the morning. It didn't sound like a pleasant situation at all, and actually, she was glad Killian had wound up at her place rather than stayed where it was obviously not a good place to stay. His use of the phrase 'get my throat torn out again' was interesting though, and she added that to her reserves of really really vage information she had about Killian, in case it ever meant anything.
"No, stay," she said, her hands tapping against the bench in front of her until they hit a paper bag. She opened it up and sniffed inside, her face brightening. "Ooh, bagels! Want one?" She started cutting one up for herself while she waited for Killian's answer.
"Yes, stay, it's probably nicer than being back there... and if you go I'll still be awake, just really bored."

"Ooh, bagels! Want one?"
"Sure," Killian replied with a smile as he watched Flick get awfully excited about finding food...it was good to know he wasn;t the only one who's day was made when the proper meal was found.
"Yes, stay, it's probably nicer than being back there... and if you go I'll still be awake, just really bored."
She had a point there though Killian wasn't exactly sure why he had ended up here in the first place. There was something about Flick that made him feel more comfortable then he usually was around those who were well...not dead and/or supernatural in some shape or form. And as terrible as it sounded it helped that she was blind. Not right this second but the fact that Flick wasn't able to "see" him allowed him to not have to worry about the fact that though she would age like any normal person he wouldn't and she wouldn't see it so problem solved as far as that went.
Though that was only the start of a long list of issues that he came with; especially these days.
"You're dad is still away?" Killian asked taking notice of the empty house. He allowed his eyes to travel over the kitchen and he couldn't help but notice how normal it all felt...how much like a home it felt like. Staying with Alexis was the nearest thing he had had to a real home in over 300 years so he wasn't really an expert.

"Sure,"
Flick smiled and cut open another bagel and stuck them in the oven to grill slowly while she searched for toppings and spreads. "Any preferences?" she asked, searching the fridge. "I think we've got just about everything." She started pulling various spreads and meats out of the fridge and laying them out on the bench.
"You're dad is still away?"
"Guardian," she corrected him, turning to check the bagels in the oven and deciding they could stand do go a bit longer. "Not dad. And yeah, he's still god knows where doing god knows what and has only bothered to call once." Was she ranting? If not, she was on the verge of it. She did know where he was and what he was doing, but figured Killian would probably think her mad if she mentioned that. That didn't make her any less pissed off though.
She checked the bagels again and frowned, turning the heat up slightly. "Ah well, having the house to my self isn't all that bad. I'd invite all my friends over and throw wild parties if I had enough friends." She turned to him and rested her elbows on the bench and her chin in her hands, staring in his vague direction. "So, this guardian of yours, how long have you been with her, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Guardian. Not dad. And yeah, he's still god knows where doing god knows what and has only bothered to call once."
"Gotcha," Killian responded with a silent nod. He wasn;t very good at reading people but he didn't have to be to be able to tell that Flick was less then pleased with the guy going MIA, that seemed to be a girl thing though too.
Killian offered Flick a semi awkward smile as she seemingly looked in his general direction. He obviously knew she couldn;t see him but it just made it slightly less awkward for him if he responded in some way physically. He had never really realized how much he rellied on hi sphysicla movements until he had spent time with Flick and realized they would do him no good.
"So, this guardian of yours, how long have you been with her, if you don't mind my asking?"
Killian paused for a moment not knowing exactly how to answer that question. He was pretty sure explaining that he had technically met her the first time she had killed him in a cemetery wouldn't go over too well so he it was best to leave that part out.
"About a month and a few weeks," Killian explained trying to remember the story Alexis had pieced together for her friends who came around the shop.
"Oh, that would be great. People who lend me money would think that was just what they wanted to hear. Why don't we just stick to you being my late brother's son from Salem?"
"She's my dad's sister; he's dead..."
"...has been for 300 years"
"So she got stuck with me," Killian explained as he realized that the fact that he had all but adopted Alexis as his "gaurdian" seemed to suite him just fine.
"What about you? How long have you been calling this place home?"

"About a month and a few weeks," Well, that wasn't long at all. "She's my dad's sister; he's dead... So she got stuck with me,"
"I'm sorry," Flick said, before turning around and grabbing the, finally cooked, bagels out of the oven, handing one to Killian and putting the various toppings out in front of him. "About your dad," she continued. "That can't be easy." Flick forced herself not to ask about his mother.
"What about you? How long have you been calling this place home?"
"My whole life," she answered through a mouthful of bagel. Realising that made little sense what with the legal guardian thing, she quickly swallowed her food so she could explain. "This is actually my house," she elaborated. "Jamie moved in when I was five, after my parents were killed..." she paused briefly, a slight frown on her face, as she wondered whether or not to continue. Eventually she decided what the hell, nothing could be wackier than his crazy not dead-ness. "We're still not sure what killed them," had she said 'what'? whoops. "But hey, life goes on."
She took another bite of bagel but it did nothing to curb her sudden rambling, because as soon as she swallowed, she started again. "I just wish he'd call. I mean, he's all I've got, is it really too much to ask? And you know what? I'm going to stop talking now." She filled her mouth with bagel again, holding the remaining bagel ready to put an automatic stop to further ramblings.

"I'm sorry. About your dad...That can't be easy."
Killian shrugged an motion he knew was wasted on Flick but he did it anyways before taking a bite from the bagel she had handed to him. He was an asshole here he was lying to her and she was feeling bad for him; it was true justt eh dates were off give or take 300 years but it still didn't make him feel any better about lying to her.
"Jamie moved in when I was five, after my parents were killed...We're still not sure what killed them. But hey, life goes on."
Killian choke dlsightly on the piece of bagel he had in his mouth as Flick explained that soemthing apprently apposed to soemone had killed her parents. That was soemthing you didn't run across often.
Clearing his throat for a moment and setting the bagel down on the counter Killian eyed Flick trying to see what she was playing at.
"Sorry...not to seem like I wasn't paying attention but did you say "what" killed them?...Were they attacked by like an animal...or soemthing?" Killian asked begrudingly tacking on the something at the end of the statement.
He was surely not one to talk...cursed 300 yeard old 17 yeard old who was rooming with a vampire and her undead boyfreind that he was...he definetly had nooooo room to talk.

Flick's brow furrowed in concern as she heard Killian choke on his food. She would be less than happy if he somehow choked to death in her kitchen... and it would be really hard to explain to both Jamie and Killian's aunt. When he seemed to recover, she relaxed slightly, until he spoke.
"Sorry...not to seem like I wasn't paying attention but did you say "what" killed them?...Were they attacked by like an animal...or soemthing?"
Her expression quickly became pained and worried. Had she been wrong about him? Was his distinct lack of aura something to do with her rather than him? Did he really have no idea what she was talking about? But no, she'd never been wrong before. Confused, but not wrong, and there's not a lot to confuse when it came to this kind of thing. He'd touched death, and not just some crazy near death experience... he knew death well. He had to understand. Quickly pulling herself together, Flick shrugged and finished off her slice of bagel before answering.
"If it were an animal, we'd know what did it, wouldn't we?" she pointed out. Another shrug, and she waved her hand dismissively. "Forget I said anything... you wouldn't be the first to think I'm crazy... nor the last I suspect... I just thought you'd be different, I guess."

Killian cringed slightly as he noticed Flick's sudden change of expression. He quickly knew that he had managed to insert his foot into his mouth before she had ever said anything else. But in all honsty what was one supposed to say to that? He couldn't very well go into his history to make her feel better he would then be willing to bet she would think he was putting her on and no doubt kick him out. Though from where he stood that could still be a not to distant course of action.
"If it were an animal, we'd know what did it, wouldn't we?"
"Um...yeah I guess it would..." Killian muttered his eyes looking anywhere but at Flick.
"Forget I said anything... you wouldn't be the first to think I'm crazy... nor the last I suspect... I just thought you'd be different, I guess."
Killian's eyes snapped on to Flick and he could tell she was far past upset.
"I don't think you're crazy....I just um...I..."
And that was the problem he had run out of excuses to not convince Flick that he didn't think she was crazy because the truth was he knew she wasn't crazy. He knew what went bump in the night was mroe times then not some freaky ass monster but he couldn't let her know that.
"Look everyone believes in there own thing...but why would you...why would you think I'm different?"
