"Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?" But the little prince made no reply.
There were key differences between the realms of men and angels, time being the just one of them. The comparison about the one thousand to one day ratio only gave humans the vaguest sense of what time meant to heaven's inhabitants. As nice as that might sound, the divine time system did not give one many sunsets. Actually, Michael had never even seen one before Father had begun his terrestrial creations. Each sunset since Sol and Earth had come into being had been as beautiful and unique, His favored children were the same way. Every new human soul brimmed with hope and opportunity. Angels were created to fulfill a need - some for battle, some prophesy - but humans were blessed with the ability to choose their purpose. Perhaps that was why He loved humans more. Tthey were more interesting than the angels, who were given a much more limited amount of choices. Others might find this fact disturbing or enraging, but it had never occurred to Micheal to feel anything other than love for humanity. Like many children, she unconsciously modeled herself after the one responsible for giving her life. God loved humanity, therefore Michael loved them as well. A sigh escaped the archangel's lips as she watched the sun set over the horizon. There was now a war that threatened to end humanity. A damned war, and it seemed like the host of heaven was trying to fight with one hand behind its back. They shouldn't be loosing ground against Lilith and her minions. Something was going on, and Michael needed to find out what that thing was before it doomed her Father's most precious creations.

Ariella had greatly enjoyed her meeting with Raziel. It was indeed time for her to be busy, and to get Heaven's plan into action. She was tired of all of the humans running around this earth, lying to each other and to themselves. They had convinced themselves they were right, and that they had a right to the planet her Father had created.
"Ridiculous." Ariella fingered the weapon Raziel had given her as she gazed into the sunset she was rapidly approaching. Humans needed to learn, and Ari was more than happy to teach them.
Suddenly, Ariella sensed that she needed to look around. Turning, her eyes suddenly fell on a very familiar figure which she would have missed had she not paid attention.
"Michael." She said calmly, staring at her brother.

Michael's solitude was interrupted when another angel decided to teleport to remote vista. Maybe this was a popular stop for her brethren? The thought of other angels using this spot for hundreds of years was both uplifting and saddening. It was nice to think that they were enjoying this corner of their Father's creation, but couldn't one of them have told Michael about if sooner?
"Ridiculous."
"My thoughts exactly!" Michael responded, as if her new companion had been addressing the same thoughts. "all this time and no one thought to mention this spot to me?"
Finally turning to see who had joined her, the archangel realized it was Ariella, who had domain over wisdom. Whether this was a good or bad thing was debatable. This sister hadn't always looked favorable upon humanity, much more of a glass half empty to Michael's look at all these interesting glasses approach. Still, this was as good of a time as any to see where Ari stood on the whole stopping the end of the world issue.
"Ari." The warrior said in greeting.

"Ari."
The word hung in the air. Ariella could only stare for a long moment. She didn't really know what to say. In truth, she was not looking to pick a fight immediately with her brother. But she and Michael saw differently on another of things, and she was sure those differences would still be strong.
"Fancy meeting you here, Michael. How have you been?"
Ariella glanced back towards the sunset, watching the golden rays.
"It's lovely, isn't it? The sunset? I like sunrises better, but these are nice as well. Humans enjoy them."

Michael gave Ariella a sort of half smile, "Oh I've been better. Apocalypse never make for good times. I worry that some within our ranks are. . .purposefully hindering our efforts."
A more less direct approach might have been better, but the archangel had never been known for subtlety. It was a testament to her brothers' influence that Michael didn't just ask the other angel if she was working against humanity. The warrior hoped that Ari wouldn't be involved. Although all angels were siblings, the archangels were closer do to their positions of leadership. It would be hard to see another of their ranks fall.
"They are beautiful, Father has surrounded humanity with so many blessings."

"Oh I've been better. Apocalypse never make for good times. I worry that some within our ranks are. . .purposefully hindering our efforts."
Ariella kept her expression neutral. Her arms moved up to fold calmly across her chest. The sides of the fence she and Michael fell on were more likely divided by the Grand Canyon rather than a fence, but she didn't need to tell her brother that one.
"I see."
It wasn't much of a coverup, but it wasn't a confirmation either. Her siblings could make their own assumptions about her, or her characters. But if it was one thing Ariella wouldn't do, it was pretend that she was still having a love fest with humanity.
"They are beautiful, Father has surrounded humanity with so many blessings."
"Yes, he has indeed. And humanity has yet to show their appreciation for such things. I can't tell you the last time I saw a human enjoy the wonders our Father as dealt out to them. It's a shame how little their care. It disgusts me. And angers me more than you could know."
