Alexis said her good nights to Killian and left him in the hotel lobby. For safe keeping, she'd returned the snow globe to her bedroom. It was a little thing, but she had every intention of keeping the item safe. She was going to use it as a symbol that everything would work out, and would be ok in the long run.
Alexis thought again of her life. She thought of New York, and how long she'd been there. And she thought of Chicago. One word to Jaron and he'd have her plane ticket booked. Of course, she was going to have to tell him about Killian. And she really didn't want to live with Jaron. She didn't want to deal with whatever women he brought in-vampire or human, his love for modern technology, and whatever pop culture passion had caught his attention. She'd have to get another place for her and Killian, and-.
And she was putting too much thought into this. She'd worry about that mess another time. She'd get a second opinion-from Cordelia, as she had nothing to gain from this matter. And Cordelia was full of advice, when she wanted to be.
Right now, Alexis was going to go and try to talk to Ryden. She didn't know what she was going to say, if she was going to say anything at all. Maybe she'd just tell him what a lovely evening she had earlier, and leave out the other part. But that wouldn't work. She knew she couldn't hide the shock she received from running into the man she'd loved.
Alexis realized she was standing outside of Ryden's room, but hadn't bothered to knock. Raising her hand, she knocked three times on the closed door before her.

Ryden had made his way home from the evening out with Alexis and had been far more pleased with eh state of things then he could have thought possible. The day had gone by exceptionally well and it seemed as if the days events had placed Alexis in a rather nice state of mind and in truth that was all Ryden asked. He had come to Salem of course to see that the curse Marisolla had placed upon Alexis and Killian was removed but he had also come with the knowledge that he wanted to show Alexis that life did not always have to be filled with bad things; that it could if given the chance be a fun place to spend eternity in the company of.
Or well as much company as life offered a vampire. That was small print though and hardly the point. The point was that Alexis' spirits needed lifting and Ryden was pleased to be able to help. The shopping and the trip about Salem had done the trick and Ryden had been more then pleased to see the smile which crossed Alexis' face every so often. He would do what he could to see that it remained there on a more permanent bases.
She ad wished to take a walk in the evening and Ryden not wishing to over stay his welcome had been more then happy to make his way back to the hotel to allow her the time and space to do as she wished. It was that which had found him in his hotel room working upon a few business deals which had slipped by the wayside in response to his sudden departure from London but again it was all for the best as he had not been this content with life for a very long time.
A soft knock upon the door caught his attention and he carefully closed the laptop he had been seated in front as he went to answer the door. In truth it could...should have only been 1 of 2 people as the staff had been instructed not to disturb him in the evening time. Last he had seen of Killian the boy was wearing out the front lobby rug so that simply left Alexis.
Opening the door Ryden smiled as he took immediate note of Alexis standing before him. It was truly a sight he would never tire of.
"Fancy seeing you around these parts Ms. London," Ryden greeted her with a smile.

Nearly as soon as she'd knocked on the door, Alexis's mind drifted back to the thoughts which had been weighing on her for the past few hours.
She was there to see Ryden, but her brain could only focus on the conversation with Jon. There was so much she truthfully didn't understand. Maybe because she'd hidden her emotions for so long from so many that when the concept of love appeared, it only made sense to her that since she ment it, the other party must as well. And love was supposed to be some all-powerful emotion that conquered all and had caused so many people to do such rash actions over history.
Alexis didn't get it.
The door openened in front of her and she found herself looking into Ryden's eyes.
"Fancy seeing you around these parts Ms. London,"
"Ryden." There was relief when she said his name. She was glad she'd come to him. If nothing else, he made her feel better almost immediately in the instance she laid eyes on him.
"May I come in?"

"Ryden."
Ryden couldn;t help but smile as his name left Alexis' lips. No matter how many times he saw her he still couldn't exactly piece together how she had simply fallen into his world. Or well he knew technically how she had come about but it all seemed to have worked out far too well to be true and Ryden was simply waiting for the catch...there had to be one...somewhere.
"May I come in?"
"Of course," Ryden replied as he opened the door wider allowed Alexis ample room to make her way into the room.
The world outside of the hotel room was silent and Ryden thus far was pleased with how their stay at the Salem hotel was going. Though as his eyes looked closely at Alexis he couldn't help but feel as if there was soemthing the matter. Her manner was different...something was different about Alexis and it had occured from the time he had left her till she had found herself on his doorstep.
"Is everything ok Alexis?" Ryden asked as he glanced down the hallway from which Alexis had come just to make doubly certain that there was nothing obviously amiss with the world around. Though as far as Ryden could see everything was in place...which of course was just as bad of news as if there was something obviously the matter.
"Killian still wearing a hole in the lobby carpet?" Ryden knew that Alexis worried about the boy as if he were her own so it was no far stretch to think that the boys unhappinness was wearing off on Alexis.

Alexis took a long unnecessary deep breath. For a moment, she simply stared at Ryden. She wanted to reach for him, and it was all she could do to keep from throwing herself into his arms.
"Of course,"
"Thank you." Alexis smiled and stepped across the threshold into the hotel room. Once inside she debated what exactly she was going to say, or do. She didn't know what to tell him, or what to say, or how to say it. She only knew that she needed to try and talk to him about what had just happened.
"Is everything ok Alexis?"
"I-." Alexis wasn't sure how to answer that question. She most assuredly was not ok, but in all truthfulness, everything was ok. No one was hurt, bleeding, burning or in the possible position of being staked. So there was no point in worrying him, and she didn't want him worrying about her unnecessarily.
"Killian still wearing a hole in the lobby carpet?"
"Fortunately for the carpet, no." Alexis gave him a faint smile as she turned to face him. "Ryden-."
Alexis looked to the side, trying to pretend she was perfectly fine. But it was going to come out, so she might as well let it.
"Ryden, it's been the most bizarre night ever." Alexis wrapped her arms around his neck, embracing him. She didn't care how it went, or what he thought, she just needed to hug him right now.

Ryden watched Alexis slightly perplexed; there was most assuredly something off with her but he couldn't pin point it for the life of him. Something had changed in the few hours he had been away and whatever that was it had been been pleasent.
"Ryden-."
She was doing her best to make everything appear as if it was as normal as when he left her on her own for the evening but there were things that were still off no matter how hard she tried to cover them up.
"Ryden, it's been the most bizarre night ever."
Ryden allowed his arms to embrace Alexis as she drapped her arms around his neck in her own embrace. He held her tightly to him and placed a kiss upon the top of her head before allowing one hand to trail gently through her hair.
"Ever? Considering all the nights our kind have that is saying something," Ryden whispered in her ear before pulling away slightly.
He gently rubbed her back in hopes that he could calm her and therefor ease whatever had happened.
"What is it that happened while you were away?" Ryden asked knowingly.
He hadn;t known Alexis for a great amount of time but the time she had been in his life he had quickly learned her habbits and how she went about her life and mannerisms and soemthing was most definetly off.

Alexis felt so incredibly safe in Ryden's arms. She closed her eyes, for a long moment simply content to let herself bury her face in Ryden's shoulder.
She felt horrible. Truthfully, she wasn't even sure if she should be here. How did you tell one man that you were here because another had upset? Alexis could only determine that honesty was the best policy.
"Ever? Considering all the nights our kind have that is saying something,"
Stepping away from him, Alexis looked up at him.
"Before I met you, before this entire mess with the curse happened, I was dating a human-a hunter. He left me before all this started and I never heard from him again-until tonight."
Alexis took a step away from Ryden, looking down at the room's carpeting.
"He showed up here in Salem tonight. He claims he heard what happened to me and he wanted to help. I-."
Alexis looked away. A tear formed in one of her eyes. Raising one hand, she brushed it away.
"I can't believe he came here. I can't believe he even came back into my life again. I-."
Alexis turned away completely from Ryden. Tears trickled down her cheeks. It was horrible. She felt terrible for even coming here. Sighing, she turned back to him as she wiped the remainder of her tears away.
"I shouldn't have brought this on you. I'll see you later."
She brushed passed him and moved towards the door to leave the room. She would have done better to handle this one alone.

Ryden kept his eyes locked upon Alexis as she took a step back from him. Had he not felt that something else was the matter with Alexis he would have thought it had been his own words or actions but he was rather certain that was not the case. Something else had upset Alexis and Ryden was none to happy about it.
"Before I met you, before this entire mess with the curse happened, I was dating a human-a hunter. He left me before all this started and I never heard from him again-until tonight."
Ryden held his position; keeping silent and allowing Alexis to explain to him what she felt he needed to know. He wasn't certain how this all tied together but he was rather positive he would learn soon enough.
"He showed up here in Salem tonight. He claims he heard what happened to me and he wanted to help. I-. I can't believe he came here. I can't believe he even came back into my life again. I-."
And there it was; all the pieces out upon the table and slipping together to make sense of what had upset Alexis or well what was still very much upsetting her. In the time he had known Alexis he had not heard her mention another and there had not been any contact from the human hunter which as Alexis had explained was because the mane had vanished only to re-surface at what Ryden would classify as a very inopportune point in time.
Any thoughts Ryden may have had on the situation were quickly over taken by the anger he felt at seeing Alexis cry. He had done what he could to ensure that her time in Salem be as painless and as pleasant as possible and then ti would seem as if the workings of the curse were springing up in the form of a meddlesome hunter.
Hunters usually had the tendency of getting in the way and Ryden had learned years ago that a majority of the time they were more trouble then they were a help since most were far too daft to know what was really going on in the world around them and simply saw things as black and white.
But that was too generic of a label; whoever this hunter was Ryden had an issue with the human on an entirely different level. The level being brought about by the tears which Alexis was attempting to hide.
"I shouldn't have brought this on you. I'll see you later."
Ryden never took his eyes from Alexis as she brushed by him and in the very next instance he was close behind his hand gently grasping her shoulder to turn her back toward him. He could not abide the sight of her walking away from him.
"Alexis; I told you not to long ago that I wanted you to bring whatever ailed you to me and I would do my best to set it straight. You can aways come to me with whatever you need no matter what it is," Ryden explained though he was not sure what he could do for her in regards to the human.
"I don't know what it is you need but if you allow me I will do what I can to help."

Alexis nearly jumped as Ryden's hand touched her. Turning to look at him, she realized how much she hated the fact that blood tears were now marking the skin around her eyes. A mess again. Ryden unfortunately seemed to get that side of her a lot.
"Alexis; I told you not to long ago that I wanted you to bring whatever ailed you to me and I would do my best to set it straight. You can aways come to me with whatever you need no matter what it is,"
"I wasn't expecting this." Alexis whispered, raising her hand to wipe her eyes. "I hate complicating things more for us. This just makes things worse....for everyone."
Alexis sighed, frowning down at the hotel's carpet. She wanted to wake up in the morning and have all of this gone.
"He knew that you and I....well....that we...." Alexis didn't quite know how to word that one. She hadn't know what she and Ryden were a few hours ago, and she certainly didn't know what they were now that this wrinkle had popped up.
"He knew I'd been seeing you. I told him that I cared for you." Alexis reached out and squeezed Ryden's hands.
"I don't know what to do now." She murmured, attempting to dry her tears.

"I wasn't expecting this."
"Life...even for the undead never seems to do exactly what we would expect," Ryden whispered as he brushed away a stray tear which snaked its way down Alexis' face.
He hated to see her cry.
"I hate complicating things more for us. This just makes things worse....for everyone."
"It's nothing we can't handle love," Ryden whispered with a smile as he allowed his fingers to brush carefully through her hair. He had brought her here to help mend her soul; to help heal what had seemingly been broken long ago and Ryden was a bit worried that if he was not careful she might break all over again.
"He knew that you and I....well....that we....He knew I'd been seeing you. I told him that I cared for you. I don't know what to do now."
Ruyden listened to Alexis' words cause he was rather certain she needed him to. Her energy felt like a whirl wind simply spinning about without having any sort of destination and Ryden was not sure how entirely to calm her.
"You have to do what feels right," Ryden whispered as he fished out a hankerchief from his pocket and handed it to Alexis.
It hurt to tell her that; hurt because he knew that perhaps what she wanted what she would pick would not be him. Perhaps this human was what she wanted and Ryden was unsure what that would feel like; it had been lifetimes since he had allowed himself to truley care for another and he knew all to well that it could mean pain as well. The two seemingly went hand in hand.
"But even with that said I would like to throw in how very much I love you," Ryden explained with a faint smile as he kissed her cheek gently. There was no shame in giving yourself a bit of advertisement.

"Life...even for the undead never seems to do exactly what we would expect,"
Alexis smiled faintly. That was beyond true. She had thought for so many years she was happy, but even then she'd dealt with Gardener and whatever drama he liked to cause. Those idiots who were waiting for Edward Cullen to come turn them so they could live forever didn't really know what they were hoping for.
"It's nothing we can't handle love,"
Maybe he could handle it, but she had no idea how to. Alexis reminded herself that Ryden had seen a vampire marriage break up. She had never been close to another-human or vampire.
"I don't know what to do." She repeated faintly. "I just don't know what people do in these situations....I've never....I never before..... This is all very new to me."
"You have to do what feels right,"
"I know." She whispered, looking faintly up at him. "Though I'm not sure what I think right now."
"But even with that said I would like to throw in how very much I love you,"
Alexis reached forward, wrapping her arms around Ryden's neck. She buried her face into his neck, holding tightly to him.
"I love you as well." She whispered, closing her eyes. "I just....I'm scared."
It was the only way she could say it, and the only way she could express how she felt. Well, there was one word better than scared, and that was terrified. But that might come off a little strong considering everything she'd just laid on the man.

Ryden embraced Alexis forcefully in reply to the tight hold she latched upon him. It was nice to have her near; to feel her close even with all the new pieces of the equation in play. They had technically been up against much worse then a troublesome human. Though Ryden knew the toll love could take on a person; it had taken time to heal after Marisolla and he knew that without that time the heart would never truley heal.
"I love you as well. I just....I'm scared."
"It's normal to be scared love," Ryden explained as he gently traced his fingers along Alexis' back in an attempt to relax her while still having her near.
"It is no small task to give someone your heart and then have them dispose of it as if it were nothing; whether they meant to or not is not entirely the point," Ryden explained keeping his voice low and calm.
"Love is by far the most painful experience existence has to offer...sadly there is no easy way to deal with it."
That was beyond the truth. Marisolla had never set out to hurt him or their marriage; Ryden believed that with his entire being. It had been her nature which destroyed them; it had simply been who she was and who Ryden was which had determined they could not be themselves with each other. Turning from a love you have invested your heart into is no small task but in order to preserve yourself it must be done.
Ryden continued to gently rub Alexis' back wishing he could take away her heart ache and her pain but knowing it was soemthing she would have to triumph over in time.
"I wish I could help you; wish there was mroe I could say or do which would take away your pain Alexis. But I am afraid that in the matter of a broken heart there is not much anyone can do. The heart whether it beats or not is a rather fragile thing."

Alexis felt her tears flowing harder than she thought she'd ever had tears fall. She clung to Ryden, embracing him tightly.
"It's normal to be scared love,"
"Then why does everyone do it?" Alexis whispered, pressing her forehead into his shoulder. "Seriously, why does everyone put themselves through this?"
"It is no small task to give someone your heart and then have them dispose of it as if it were nothing; whether they meant to or not is not entirely the point,"
That was exactly what Jon had done. Alexis was sure that he hadn't done it on purpose, but he had done it and it hurt and she couldn't get past it that something had been that much more important than her.
"Love is by far the most painful experience existence has to offer...sadly there is no easy way to deal with it."
"That makes it so enticing." Alexis sighed, running her fingers lightly over Ryden's back.
"I wish I could help you; wish there was mroe I could say or do which would take away your pain Alexis. But I am afraid that in the matter of a broken heart there is not much anyone can do. The heart whether it beats or not is a rather fragile thing."
"I just need to be with you, to be near you." Alexis tucked her head deep into Ryden's neck. "I think that's the best thing I could do for myself right now. I care so much about you, and I just want to be with you."
She ran her hands down his arms, clutching his hands tightly.
"I love you, Ryden." She whispered, stepping back from him. "Really, I do so much."

"I just need to be with you, to be near you. I think that's the best thing I could do for myself right now. I care so much about you, and I just want to be with you."
"I am not going anywhere love; you have my word," Ryden explained as he continued to rub Alexis' back gently. He could feel the grief she felt over the lost love rolling off of her in waves and he only wished to see her through it. To hel her as she needed. He knew the pain she felt; the pain of love lost was no easy thing to get past. Humans and vampires alike and any other number of supernatural being had been experiencing it for century after century. No matter how far the creature was from human it seemed as if the concept of love followed through no matter who or what they were. It truley seemed as if love conquered all.
"I love you, Ryden. Really, I do so much."
"And I love you Alexis," Ryden responded as she took a step away from him.
"I will admitt it came about rather unexpectedley but in no way has it been unwanted. I will stand by you till the end of time Alexis London; you should know that," Ryden explained sincerely.
The feelings which came with knowing Alexis London were like nothing he had ever experienced before. She had a way about her which caused one to feel as if their very soul was on display. It was a weakness of this Ryden was certain; she had quickly become his weakness but to love her was to expect a weakness in his life and Ryden was more hten willing to do just that.
It was what kept them human; love kept them human.

"I am not going anywhere love; you have my word,"
He wouldn't leave? Alexis sighed heavily. She wondered if Jon would have said the same thing. She didn't feel comfortable with that, but she wouldn't say it aloud.
"And I love you Alexis....I will admitt it came about rather unexpectedley but in no way has it been unwanted. I will stand by you till the end of time Alexis London; you should know that,"
That was entirely how it had happened. She had no intentions of falling in love with Ryden, but it had happened and she never wanted to be away from him. Yet the experience with Jon had scared her so badly, now, tonight, she had no idea what to say or how to react.
"You're too right. I never expected to meet or see someone like you. I wish had met you years before....it would have made so many lonely years that much more rewarding."
Alexis leaned up and kissed Ryden's cheek lightly. Taking a step back, she smiled as securely as she could. Taking a moment, she passed her hand lightly over his hair.
"It's late. I should go."
