Jon had been driving for hours, his only stop to meet up with a vampire named Jericho Nadasdy who had turned out to be none other than Alexis's brother. The meeting hadn't gone well but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it. He was finally in Salem where an angel had told him Alexis would be since she was trying to remove a curse. It was late at night so he pulled into a hotel in town to get some, if any, sleep before looking for Alexis. He'd driven by an extremely fancy hotel outside the town but he decided to pass it up since Alexis would probably stay in town to get working on the curse removal.
He grabbed his bag from his truck and went into his room to see if he could find anything that might help Alexis. After two hours of searching the internet he decided to get some sleep and ready for the day ahead. There was no point in wearing himself out before getting anything done. He thought back to what the angel Ariella had said to him in his dream the other night.
But there's a problem...she in the company of another vampire....and the two of them find each other's company very agreeable."
It was the other vampire that he thought about, if Alexis was truly happy with him then what right did Jon have to come in and blow it all apart. He opened up his bag to pull out some new purchases he'd gotten. New soaps, deodorant, cologne, clothes, all of it was bought that day for a specific. Alexis would recognize his scent the second he was around her, but he wasn't sure if the other vampire might've picked it up around her place. It was just for that reason he was going to do everything he could to change his smell. Everything down to the brand of toothpaste he used was different, he'd even grabbed a new pair of sunglasses and a baseball cap to hide his appearance as best as he could.
He felt terrible for hiding from Alexis but he needed to get full stock of the situation before revealing himself. As far as he knew she never even got the voicemail and probably thought he was still gone. After laying out his clothes he loaded up his pistol and got into bed. He lay awake in bed for a while staring up at the dark ceiling. His thoughts revolving around Alexis and wondering what the day would bring, until finally sleep overtook him.

Alexis was always drawn to the darkness, given her vampire nature, so following her evening with Ryden she left the hotel to wander the streets of Salem.
She was slightly disappointed that they had to postpone the curse removal, given that that was their entire purpose for being here, but she figured they'd all lived this long what harm could another night do?
Alexis determined that she wasn't tired because of her nap earlier, which had been one of the most rewarding she'd had in ages. She could deny she was enjoying the town. Killian hated it, but she knew they'd sort that out someday soon. And Ryden, Ryden had managed to light up her world in a few instances.
But her relationship, or whatever it was, with Ryden still tugged at what had been between her and Jon. She had no idea why he'd left, or where he'd gone. She wanted to believe it was something other than her being a vampire which had driven him away, but whatever it was it still hurt.
Alexis paused just outside of one of the Salem hotels. Her brain was trying to wrap itself around far too much right now. Just as she was about to take a step away from the building, she froze. A truck parked in the lot seemed very familiar-one she had seen parked near her home in New York.
It couldn't really be him, could it? What coincidence would send Jon here?

Jon hadn't slept long when he suddenly sat straight up in bed. Something had woken him but he had no idea what it could've been. The pistol he slept with under his pillow was in hand as his eyes scanned the room. Nothing moved except for a light breeze playing with the curtains. It was at one point when the breeze pushed the curtain that he could see through to the street beyond. He couldn't believe what he saw, it had to be a coincidence but he swore he saw Alexis. He stayed in the bed until the breeze once again pushed the curtain and sure enough it was her.
In a slow, trance-like manner he pushed the blanket aside and got out of bed. The pistol dropped to the floor with a clatter but the sound didn't even register with him. He pulled on a shirt, pants and shoes and made his way to the door of his room He pulled it open and walked down the hall to the door that led outside. He saw Alexis standing there in a white dress. He stopped just a few feet away from her and simply stared at her face. His mind was blank, it was as though his body gave up on him. He couldn't move or speak as he stood there. Not until a whiff of her perfume had crossed his nose, he'd been so use to her No. 5 that when the new exotic smell hit him it was almost a wake up.
"Alexis... I... I don't..."
He couldn't complete a sentence, his mind still trying to accept that the woman he'd been dreaming of was standing in front of him. Instead of trying to think of what to say, he did what felt most natural to him. He moved forward and put his hands around her to pull her in close before leaning in to kiss her lips softly.

Alexis was prepared to move on and head back towards her own hotel, but then something beyond unexpected happened. Jon Brunner-apparently alive and in the flesh-came out of the hotel.
Alexis took a step back and gasped. She was literally amazed. What had brought the man who had disappeared from her world to the same New England town where she was now? She thought for a second she might have actually fallen asleep and dreamed the entire deal. To confirm, she quickly twisted the skin on her right arm. She felt it fine, she was awake and this was real.
"Alexis... I... I don't..."
"Jon? Wha-?" And then he'd suddenly drawn her in and kissed her. Alexis barely registered what had happened. He had been gone, but now in the most unexpected of moments, he was standing here.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, taking a step backwards away from him to continue to stare, her shock going nowhere quickly.
"Where were you? You left-and I never-. And you never-. And where were you?"
She was making no sense, but she was so completely amazed that she had no idea how to even comprehend putting a thought together.

Jon felt like his heart had been ripped out when Alexis pulled away from him. It had been such a confusing moment that he did the first thing that came to him.
"What are you doing here? Where were you? You left-and I never-. And you never-. And where were you?"
He could only look on as she questioned him, he really didn't have any answers for her but when he heard about the werewolves up north he'd gone without a second glance. He hadn't meant to have been gone so long but he had no excuses. It was his own fault that they were in this position now. Oneof the few benefits of being a hunter was overcoming shock quickly and getting your thinking straight.
"Alexis... I'm sorry, I didn't mean for anything like this to happen. I'll explain everything but not out here on the street. Let's go back to my room and we'll talk and I'll explain everything to you I swear."
The hardest thing for him was to resist reaching out and holding her close but he knew that might only push her farther away. He didn't expect a meeting like this but there was nothing he could do now except to try and make things right between them.

"Alexis... I'm sorry, I didn't mean for anything like this to happen. I'll explain everything but not out here on the street. Let's go back to my room and we'll talk and I'll explain everything to you I swear."
He was sorry? She'd been miserable for weeks now wondering what had happened to him-not to mention the living hell she'd personally been through that he'd missed and he was sorry?! Alexis took an unnecessary deep breath. She was going to hear him out. She wasn't going to go into orbit and freak out-even though that's what her senses were telling him to do.
"Ok. Let's go." She nodded towards the building. Her eyes roamed over him. He looked all right. She was relieved he was all right. Regardless of how angry she was, she didn't want the man hurt. But what the hell had brought him to Salem? Alexis shuddered at the thought that Jon might be mixed up with Ryden's ex wife. That wasn't possible, was it?
"Did you call me?" It seemed like the easiest question to ask and answer in the moment. "I thought I got a call from you a few days ago, but I couldn't hear anything and then the phone cut out. When I tried to call you back, the line was disconnected."

"Ok. Let's go."
So far so good, she hasn't freaked out yet.
He had almost reached out to take her hand in his but judging by how she reacted when he kissed her he didn't think it'd fair well. He led the way back into the hotel and held his room door open for her.
"Did you call me? I thought I got a call from you a few days ago, but I couldn't hear anything and then the phone cut out. When I tried to call you back, the line was disconnected."
He closed the door behind them and picked up his pistol where it had fallen.
"Yes I broke my phone and had to borrow one and the reception was terrible so I wasn't even sure you got it."
He looked her over, he could see she'd been through an ordeal. It killed him inside at what he'd done that obviously didn't help her situation.
"Lex I know bits and pieces of what happened but I want you to tell me everything. I know about the curse, your... ex showing up and", his knuckles turned white from how hard he was gripping the pistol in his hand, "I know about the other vampire you're traveling with."
He couldn't bring himself to look her in the eyes as he said the last part. He knew it was going to be a long night but he'd do whatever was best for her in the long run.
"So let's start from the beginning. What do you need to do to get the curse lifted?"

Alexis followed Jon to his room, and was proud of herself for shaking off her shock long enough to give him a faint smile. Once inside of the room, she smoothed her already sleek hair down. Not that she was doubting that it was in place, but the action made her feel better. It was something she could control.
"Yes I broke my phone and had to borrow one and the reception was terrible so I wasn't even sure you got it."
"I thought it was an effect of the curse....some type of magic twist." Alexis leaned against the wall near the window, looking Jon over thoughtfully. She'd never seen him so attached to a gun in the time she'd known him.
"Lex I know bits and pieces of what happened but I want you to tell me everything. I know about the curse, your... ex showing up and"
Alexis frowned and folded her arms over her chest. He knew what had happened to her? How on earth did he know that? And if he knew all of this, why didn't he come to her assistance?
"You know what's happened to me? Well, I'm glad one of us knows what's going on with the other. If you knew all of this, why didn't you come and help me?"
"I know about the other vampire you're traveling with."
Alexis raised an eyebrow. She wondered exactly what Jon meant by he knew about Ryden. He knew that he was Marisolla Ledeara's ex and the person who could get the curse removed, or he knew that she did in fact have feelings for the other vampire? She was glad she had left the necklace Ryden had given her back at the hotel. Seeing Jon tonight, she didn't want to make the situation anymore awkward than it already was.
"What do you know about him?" She asked, meeting Jon's eyes.
"So let's start from the beginning. What do you need to do to get the curse lifted?"
"Let's skip that for right now." Alexis took a few steps closer to him. "Why don't we start with where you were...and why you left me."

Jon watched as she ran her hands through her hair, she was probably feeling as lost as he was.
"I thought it was an effect of the curse....some type of magic twist."
"It might've been or I was just clumsy", he left out the part of going on about three hours of sleep in four days. He was a wreck and he knew it. He looked down at the pistol in his hand, it'd been the first one he'd ever gotten. He hadn't even realized it when he put it under his pillow at night. He was so accustom to having it around it was like a favorite blanket.
"You know what's happened to me? Well, I'm glad one of us knows what's going on with the other. If you knew all of this, why didn't you come and help me?"
"Why do you think I'm here Lex? As soon as I heard what happened I was headed right here to find you and help."
He could feel himself getting angry but he tried to keep it in check. He knew he screwed up leaving her behind but that job was to important to pass up.
What was it Ariella said, leave the past where it is?
He knew what she meant but if he did that he wouldn't have been a hunter in the first place.
"What do you know about him?"
"I know he's the witch who cursed you's ex husband, and he's here because your... ex didn't exactly help and I know you and him are...", he searched his mind for the right word, even though he hated to say it, "I know you two are close."
He felt his stomach roll when he said that, he couldn't bear the thought of Alexis in another man's arms even if he was probably better for her.
"Let's skip that for right now. Why don't we start with where you were...and why you left me."
He almost didn't want to Alexis in the eyes when she moved towards him. It was one of the things he liked about her, she wasn't a woman you messed around with. He felt like a kid being scolded by his mother.
"Alexis it's not something I wanted to do. You have to understand it killed me to leave you like that. Before I can answer that, have I told you about why I became a hunter?"

"Why do you think I'm here Lex? As soon as I heard what happened I was headed right here to find you and help."
Alexis was, and always had been, a good vampire. And part of being a good vampire was picking up on when a human was going to run, throw something freak out, or other general body mannerisms. And Alexis could definitely pick up that Jon was growing angry. She wasn't exactly sure why, but as she was trying to figure it out, Alexis realized something else. She was breathing. And that wasn't a good sign.
Alexis had trained herself to breath in situations which made her tense, situations where there was a possibility she might lose her temper. It always made her nervous when her body decided it needed to calm itself.
"I wish you'd been here through the entire thing." She said genuinely, meeting Jon's eyes. "Really, I wish you had been."
It was true. She remembered that when she'd called Killian from London where she'd gone to find Ryden in the first place, she'd hoped to any deity that was listening that Jon had called, or that he'd been there. But he hadn't been. And as much as she wanted to understand why he'd left, it hurt-a lot.
"I know he's the witch who cursed you's ex husband, and he's here because your... ex didn't exactly help and I know you and him are.. ...I know you two are close."
Alexis's heart sank. She didn't want to hurt anyone. But with Jon gone, it had been Ryden who'd been with her. Now, she didn't really know what to say. She and Jon had shared such a special time, but when the worst had hit, he wasn't there.
"Yes, he and I have become close." She said softly, raising one hand to twirl a lock of her hair. "Jon, it's not-. He-. He was there for me, and it just sort of happened that we became close."
"Alexis it's not something I wanted to do. You have to understand it killed me to leave you like that. Before I can answer that, have I told you about why I became a hunter?"
"No." She sighed. "You never told me that. I guess we must have skipped the background information part of our relationship. Really Jon, if it was so hard to do for you, why did you do it? Do you have any idea-...."
Alexis's words broke off and she crossed her arms more firmly over her chest. Surges of emotion she wasn't used to were running through her. She was angry, happy, sad and completely confused in one moment. She wasn't even sure she could hear this conversation out.

"I wish you'd been here through the entire thing. Really, I wish you had been."
Jon felt horrible, he'd abandoned her and now he was reaping the consequences of his rash actions.
"I know... I screwed up Lex. I know I did but I want to make things right."
Now came the worst part, hearing about this new vampire. He knew he wouldn't want to do anything to hurt but a part of him wanted to find the guy and do what he had always done to vampires, give or take a certain vampiress.
"Yes, he and I have become close. Jon, it's not-. He-. He was there for me, and it just sort of happened that we became close."
His heart sank, she might as well have told him they'd fallen madly in love and were going to get married in a week. He was there for me, every man in the world knew what that meant.
"How close Alexis? Don't sugarcoat it, just because I know people that live forever doesn't make me less mature than they are, I'm a grown man. I'll try and understand."
If he was being honest with himself, he'd rather have it sugarcoated. Even after everything he'd seen, the idea that she was in love with another man scored him more than anything.
"No. You never told me that. I guess we must have skipped the background information part of our relationship. Really Jon, if it was so hard to do for you, why did you do it? Do you have any idea-...."
He barely suppressed a smirk that almost came to his lips when she said that.
"Technically Lex, I do know your background information. Baroness Alexia Meridia Bathory-Nadasdy, Alexis Kyle, Meridia Bowen, Lexi London, Elizabeth London, Alexia Green, am I forgetting any?"
Nadasdy... He'd almost forgotten Jericho, but that would have to wait for now.
"When I was sixteen, my family were killed by a werewolf attack. Only it wasn't a random attack like most of the time, it was a pack going around and changing together, then attacking people. They lived to hurt people, somehow when they found out what they were something made them want to work together. So they'd do things like sit outside hospitals and wait for the full moon before going in and attacking all the helpless people. That night when I was sixteen, they came to my home and killed my parents and younger brother. One of the cops who found me was a hunter, he gave me a book with everything he knew and I took my inheritance and left. I didn't even wait for the funeral service because I didn't think I could take it."
Jon grew silent before going on, he always hated telling this story. It made him angry and upset and he wanted to go out and find a monster and hurt it like he'd been hurt. He knew it was the wrong way to think but he couldn't help it.
"My brother was only six years old, do you have any idea what it's like to know your six year old brother is dead? Well a few weeks ago when I left, I'd gotten a call from one of my hunting contacts. There were werewolf attacks up north, it happens and usually a hunter from around there would handle it but these attacks were similar to what happened to me. I know it was probably a coincidence but I had to know if they were the same ones from before, but before I got to them an angel visited me and told me what happened to you. Then I ran into your brother and now I'm here and I just don't know anymore..."
He didn't even want to talk anymore, he usually kept it locked away but even after sixteen years he couldn't bear the thought of losing his family. He pulled a picture of him and Daniel from when they were fourteen and four from his wallet on the table. He just hoped Alexis understood where he was coming from.

"I know... I screwed up Lex. I know I did but I want to make things right."
He had screwed up. And Alexis couldn't deny it. As much as a part of her wanted to run to him and hold him and tell him she was just glad he was alive, the part of her that was so hurt from his having left her easily overroad it. She hated the feeling in her chest every time she thought about his leaving her.
"How close Alexis? Don't sugarcoat it, just because I know people that live forever doesn't make me less mature than they are, I'm a grown man. I'll try and understand."
"If you're asking if I slept with him, the answer is no." Not that she hadn't thought of it, but Jon didn't need to hear that bit of information. "And...."
Her voice trailed off as she tried to sort out her line of thoughts. This was by far the most complicated situation she'd ever been in.
"I don't know, Jon. When I first met him, you were the only man for me. But then you never came, and things got worse, and Ryden was there, and finally I just gave into the attraction I had for him. A few hours ago, I thought I loved him. But now, after seeing you, I don't know how I feel."
She was so completely torn. Part of her wanted to leave the room right now and run back to Ryden, have him hold her and make this all go away. And another part of her wanted to run to Jon for the same reasons. But the part with Jon was laced with anger, Alexis couldn't for a second forget about that.
"Technically Lex, I do know your background information. Baroness Alexia Meridia Bathory-Nadasdy, Alexis Kyle, Meridia Bowen, Lexi London, Elizabeth London, Alexia Green, am I forgetting any?"
And that added to her anger. Not necessarily with Jon, but with herself for being stupid. She knew better than to deal out info to random humans without knowing their background as well. So she'd succesfully just handed a human her background information, which she was sure was now documented somewhere in the hunter's vaults.
"That was stupid on my part." She told him flatly. "I shouldn't have told you my information without knowing yours as well. It's a good way for a vampire to get themself killed."
Alexis frowned. She had to admit, she'd never been a fan of weres. They were more violent. And while she'd never killed a family, she had killed for the sport of it back before Jon.
"I'm a killer too, Jon. I was horrible before I met you. You remember that Sunday morning we met? I was on my way home from massacing a bunch of Satan worshippers on Staten Island. And on the first night you came over? Did it look like there was a murder outside? There was." She sighed heavily, but it needed laid out for him.
"I never killed children, but I'm sure some of the people I killed did have them somewhere. In the long run, that doesn't really make me any better than the weres who killed your family."
Alexis picked up the picture of the two boys Jon had just withdrawn. Humans were still young-at any age when compared to vampires.
"You saw Jaron?" She looked questioningly at Jon. She wondered what her brother wanted from a hunter. Laying the picture down, she turned back to face Jon.
"My family has been dead for centuries, Jon. My father got killed in a battle when I was just a child. And my mother? Well, I'm sure you know what happened to her. I'm well aware of what it's like to be ripped away from everything you know. I didn't know Jaron was alive for years, and even now...."
Alexis shrugged. Truthfully, if her brother was staked, she wouldn't shed many tears. She'd killed the being who'd done it, but she'd lost him once and losing him again wouldn't matter.
"I'm sorry about your family." She shook her head, staring out of the window.

"If you're asking if I slept with him, the answer is no. And...."
Jon didn’t really want to hear anything about that, it was only going to hate this other vampire even more. He knew he shouldn’t but he could do nothing to stop it.
"I don't know, Jon. When I first met him, you were the only man for me. But then you never came, and things got worse, and Ryden was there, and finally I just gave into the attraction I had for him. A few hours ago, I thought I loved him. But now, after seeing you, I don't know how I feel."
"I didn't know how close you were to him, you have to know I wouldn't come here to hurt you or force you to make any difficult decisions."
Jon wasn't sure if he regretted coming here, part of him was thrilled to see Alexis but if it was only going to make things worse he wasn't sure.
"That was stupid on my part. I shouldn't have told you my information without knowing yours as well. It's a good way for a vampire to get themself killed."
That really hurt him, he would never have taken the information if he was just going to end her. He wasn't even sure what he was going to say to that.
"It was stupid to trust me? Is that what you're saying? Do you really think I would've taken the information if I was going to use it to get you killed?"
He almost regretted telling her his past if it was only going to make things worse between them.
"I'm a killer too, Jon. I was horrible before I met you. You remember that Sunday morning we met? I was on my way home from massacing a bunch of Satan worshippers on Staten Island. And on the first night you came over? Did it look like there was a murder outside? There was. I never killed children, but I'm sure some of the people I killed did have them somewhere. In the long run, that doesn't really make me any better than the weres who killed your family."
Jon thought back to all those times and started piecing it all together. The Satan worshippers sounded familiar to him, he'd read about that in the paper and he remembered the crime tape across from her place. Her last comment about not being worse almost set him off. He didn't want to compare her to any monsters out there but before he met her he would've said she was just as bad. He had made it his life's work to destroy anything like her but he could never bring himself to hurt her.
"You saw Jaron? My family has been dead for centuries, Jon. My father got killed in a battle when I was just a child. And my mother? Well, I'm sure you know what happened to her. I'm well aware of what it's like to be ripped away from everything you know. I didn't know Jaron was alive for years, and even now...."
"Jaron? He said his name was Jericho and I saw him just a few hours ago. He was... interesting to say the least."
"I'm sorry about your family."
"And I'm sorry about yours but I guess there's not much to do about it anymore."
He stared at her as she looked out the window, wondering what was going on in her head. He sat down on the edge of the bed, he spun the pistol on his finger before tossing it on his pillow. His mind seemed to go twenty million directions between his family, Alexis, what she was thinking, what she'd said to him, what she possibly didn't say, the curse that she still had, and on and on. He felt like his head was going to explode.
He got up off the bed, wanting to go over and hold Alexis and forget everything and go back to how they used to be. He knew that would only make things worse so instead he moved next to her. He couldn't look her in the eye so he did what she did and stared out the window before asking what he thought was the toughest question of the night.
"Alexis... Do you love him? I don't want to hear you're not sure, I just want the truth."

"I didn't know how close you were to him, you have to know I wouldn't come here to hurt you or force you to make any difficult decisions."
Well, she was going to have to make difficult decisions. And she couldn't believe how awkward she felt. Vampires didn't deal with things like this-this was most assuredly a human thing. Maybe she should consult Killian as soon as she got back to the hotel.
"I am glad to see you." She told him genuinely. "I'm glad to know that you're all right. As for other things...."
She didn't know. She'd thought everything was over between them, so she'd moved on. But clearly things weren't over, so what did that mean? Not to mention the fact that she was not only romantically confused now, but also hurt from Jon's leaving. He could explain why'd he'd done it, but the fact still hurt.
"It was stupid to trust me? Is that what you're saying? Do you really think I would've taken the information if I was going to use it to get you killed?"
"No, I don't believe you would have. But I'm a vampire, and I knew you were a hunter. And I just gave out so much information on myself so quickly......."
Maybe that was the problem. Maybe they'd moved too quickly. Maybe she should have thought more. She wasn't quick to make decisions in her life, but this one she had. But she didn't regret it. Well, a little, but that was only because she was hurt now. But they had good memories.
"Jaron? He said his name was Jericho and I saw him just a few hours ago. He was... interesting to say the least."
Alexis almost laughed. Jericho, that's right. For his love for pop culture television and the Biblical Battle of Jericho.
"Right. Jaron was his birth name, it's all I can think to call him. Mine was Alexia. And yes, interesting explains him perfectly."
"And I'm sorry about yours but I guess there's not much to do about it anymore."
"That goes for both of us." She murmured, meeting his eyes thoughtfully. "There's nothing to do about yours either. My mom would like the life I have, she'd want me to go on. I'm sure that since your family loved you, they'd want the same."
She was glad the gun was out of his hands, but she took a deep breath as he rose to his feet beside her. Part of her wanted to embrace him and tell him how glad she was to see him and to never leave her again....the rest wanted to run back to the hotel and console herself in Ryden Alexander Compton's arms.
"Alexis... Do you love him? I don't want to hear you're not sure, I just want the truth."
Alexis liked honesty, and she was usually very good at giving it. She thought it came from being in fashion-and from being raised in a time where no one gave a damn whose feelings were hurt.
"I-." She murmured, keeping her eyes on Jon. "I think I do."
If she even understood love at the moment. That was the other feeling rising in her-how on earth was she supposed to trust any man again if the only one to tell her he loved her before Ryden had left...and then come back? Is that was they did?
"I never meant to hurt you." She was honest. She'd never expected to see him again. So why shouldn't see have moved on?

"I am glad to see you. I'm glad to know that you're all right. As for other things...."
He wanted to say the same thing but he knew that while physically she was probably alright she was hurt on the inside.
"It's good to see you as well, always is. I'm sorry about all this..."
He didn't know what to say, he just wanted to rewind time and forget all this ever happened. Jon had no idea what he could say or do to make things right again.
"No, I don't believe you would have. But I'm a vampire, and I knew you were a hunter. And I just gave out so much information on myself so quickly......."
He wanted to scream that it was because they loved each other, there never should've been any worry about trust but he kept it to himself. Blowing up at her would only exacerbate things. Part of him wanted to go and get rid of the other vampire but he knew that would only drive Alexis away forever and that was his jealousy and hurt talking. He decided it was best to not say anything back to that or he'd lose his temper.
"Right. Jaron was his birth name, it's all I can think to call him. Mine was Alexia. And yes, interesting explains him perfectly."
"Well let's just say I'm not a big fan of his."
He didn't mention the half a million dollars because he wasn't sure how she'd feel about the fact her brother didn't want them together. If she already didn't know how she felt towards Jon, then adding a family members opinion wouldn't help his cause.
"That goes for both of us. There's nothing to do about yours either. My mom would like the life I have, she'd want me to go on. I'm sure that since your family loved you, they'd want the same."
"Actually my mother would hate the idea of my job, she wanted me to be a banker."
He thought back to the many arguments he'd had with his parents about his future. He wanted to see the world but they wanted him to have a family and a career before he was twenty one.
"I-. I think I do."
He didn't want to hear that, that instantly tore him apart inside. He wanted to throw things and scream at her but even as he felt like his heart was being ripped apart he couldn't yell at her and cause her any pain. He knew she was looking at him but he couldn't bring himself to look her in the eyes.
"I never meant to hurt you."
He didn't want to hear that, it only made him feel worse because he knew this was all his fault. He had left her when she needed him most. He'd left to chase the shadow of a chance at revenge on the shapeshifters that had killed his family.
"Meant to or not, you did. Just like I never meant to hurt you but I did, otherwise you probably wouldn't be with... him. I don't blame you, he was there at a tough time when I wasn't, he's the one that's helped you when I should've. I understand everything, I promise I do. He's a vampire, he'll understand you more than I ever will. I only know... I only know how to destroy your kind, I have no idea how things feel to you or how you see the world and even if you sat here for a year and explained it to me I'd still never understand like he would."
He knew they never talked about it but he wasn't even sure that if they were together he'd want to be changed. Even when Jericho had offered he wasn't sure. Part of him wanted to tell her to be with the other man just so she wouldn't have to make a decision and something inside told him she'd be better with her own kind but he knew he could never admit it. He would always think he was the best for her because he'd always try to be.
