Harper allowed his eyes to close slightly as Liana's cold hand touched the heated flesh of his face. Her touch felt exceptionally good and he hadn;t realized that half the reason why his hair was still soaking wet was that because he no doubt had a rather high fever.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm fine Li; just getting the kinks out," Harper explained forcing his eyes open and focusing them upon Liana.
"Cause really need you to help me with this whol relaxing thing... I tried it by myself but it just confused me."
"My mum always said that if you frown you'll en dup getting wrinkles," Harper explained taking quick notice of Liana's worried frown. She was worrying about him and he had wanted to prevent that; he had cost her enough after all. If she had failed she would have gone right back to hell and she had risked that for Harper.
"It'll be ok you'll see," Harper explained allowing his hand to brush against her check gently before forcing himself to walk the short distance across the room and sit on the edge of the bed. He felt slightly light headed but as the moments passed the spell seemed to be lessening ever so slightly though his complection was still poor.
"What did you try and do to relax?" Haroer asked skeptically as he eyed the Bible which was on the other side of the bed.
Had she been reading the Bible of all things?

"I'm fine Li; just getting the kinks out,"
Liana decided that that was a fairly obvious understatement, but she said nothing. It probably wouldn't do to say 'actually you look like you might die all over again and that would kind of suck.' Most likely, it wouldn't help anyone.
"My mum always said that if you frown you'll en dup getting wrinkles,"
"Demons don't get wrinkles," she countered, though attempted to manage at least a neutral face if it would make him feel better.
"It'll be ok you'll see,"
She desperately wanted to believe him, but for some reason she couldn't. Maybe it was the fact that she was a demon, and therefore automatically saw the worst in situations. And while that was usually a good thing when messing with humans... not so much in the middle of a war with heaven.
"What did you try and do to relax?"
"Oh, you know," she said, moving to sit down next to him. "Sat still... read a book... Like I said, it was more confusing than relaxing but hey, at least I tried, right?"

"Demons don't get wrinkles."
Now it was Harper's turn to do the frowning. That thought hadn't exactly dawned on him but she had a very good point. As a demon Liana wouldn't age or change or anything; but Harper wasn't a demon he would age and change and grow old....and die...again.
"You're not ever going to get old..." Harper muttered absently. Though he figured now was not really the time to focus on such things. If they both lived till morning it would be a success.
"Oh, you know, sat still... read a book... Like I said, it was more confusing than relaxing but hey, at least I tried, right?"
"Did you read the Bible?" Harper asked surpressing a laugh as he eyed the Bible and then focused his attention back to Liana. For some reason teh idea of a demon sitting reading a hotel bible was pretty much the funniest thing hehad been told in a very long time.
"I'm sorry," Harper muttered attempting to stem off his laughter.
"But you do see where that is an odd image right?"
But she had made a good honest effort to relax while he had been attempting to not die in the shower; it was all progress and they seemed to be doing pretty good all things considered of course.

"You're not ever going to get old..."
"Nope," she agreed simply. "Not unless I possess an old person... and why would I do that?" She frowned again, wondering why on earth that thought was relevant. Yeah, she wouldn't change at all... unless she changed host which she didn't plan on doing any time soon... but that was what happened when you were already technically dead and your presence inside a human body suspended it in it's current form.
Oh.... human... which Harper was... and she wasn't... and... oh... she hadn't thought of that.
"Did you read the Bible?"
"Hmmm?" she asked, his voice drawing her from her thoughts. "What? Why are you laughing?"
"I'm sorry, But you do see where that is an odd image right?"
Liana thought for a moment. "No... not really... it's my history too, isn't it...? Though they seem to have gotten a fair bit of it wrong..."

"What? Why are you laughing?"
Harper couldn't help but smile at her; apprently he was the only one who found the image of a demon sitting in a cheap motel reading the Bible a funny image...though he thought if he took a poll he wouldn't be the only one.
"No... not really... it's my history too, isn't it...? Though they seem to have gotten a fair bit of it wrong..."
"Well yeah I suppose...but you're not that old right? And I think that it may be a bit one sided; don't you guys have like the hell version of a Bible?" Harper asked realizing he had never thought about what it was hell believed in. They had to believe in something; something had to be worth them fighting for eternity for.
He didn't see why Lucifer was so special to them though he was pretty certain he was their "God" as far as the hell life went.
"But let the record state that in order to relax we are not supposed to talk about politics or religion," Harper explained sharing something his dad had always brought up in company. Harper's face fell as he realized how much he missed his father and he couldn't help but wonder how he was...how he had took to his "death."

"Well yeah I suppose...but you're not that old right? And I think that it may be a bit one sided; don't you guys have like the hell version of a Bible?"
"No, I'm not that old," she conceded, picking up the Bible and laying it down in her lap. "But I don't have to be thousands of years old to know it's missing a few key characters... and we don't really have a Bible... Books aren't big in Hell, what with all the fire. But you know, when you become a demon, your former torturer becomes your mentor type thing and you get filled in on all the important stuff. It's like story time - Hell styles."
Religion in Hell was... complicated to say the least. Being an afterlife in itself it wasn't anything like religion on earth. But all demons were once human, and even after becoming something entirely different, they all still needed something to believe in.
"But let the record state that in order to relax we are not supposed to talk about politics or religion,"
"Okay then," Liana said, putting the Bible behind her once again. "What do we talk about then?" She took note of his sudden fallen face and frowned. "What's the matter?"

"Okay then, what do we talk about then?"
Harper thought for a moment trying to figure out what exactly they could do which would be classified as relaxing and not thinking about the fact that somewhere out there was more then likely a group of people that wanted them both dead...each for different reasons no doubt.
"What's the matter?"
Harper looked up at Liana was a small smile; apparently he hadn't hid that too well.
"Nothing...or well not anything that we can't deal with once we're done relaxing," Harper explained not really wanting to spend the evening discussing how his father had taken the death of his son...not really a relaxing topic of conversation.
"Hey do you think if we order pizza you can Jedi mind trick them into giving it to us for free?" Harper asked with a smile as he grabbed the TV remote of the stand.

"Nothing...or well not anything that we can't deal with once we're done relaxing,"
Liana looked at him for a long moment before deciding to drop it. If he wanted to forget about whatever it was for the moment then that was fine by her. And he was the relaxation expert in the room.
"Hey do you think if we order pizza you can Jedi mind trick them into giving it to us for free?"
"Most probably," she said with a shrug, watching him grab the remote. "We'll need actual money eventually... people do tend to realise when they're being ripped off... but it's all good for now."

"Most probably, we'll need actual money eventually... people do tend to realise when they're being ripped off... but it's all good for now."
That was a very good point; but Harper wasn't exactly certain how they were meant to get money. Technically he was dead and Liana the "real" Liana was missing or well he figured she was listed as missing so that was not condusive to money. Once they got settled into the town Harper could get a job in the fishing circuit which would be a nice way to get back to bases but until then they would have to figure some other sort of plan out.
"What sort of pizza do you like?" Harper asked without really thinking about his question too much. Demons ate...right? She had to know what pizza was...
Flipping through the stations Harper figured they could watch the first "Iron-Man" movie since that was playing ever couple of hours because the new movie was out.
"I can order pizza, you can shower cause...there's blood on you," Harper pointed out with a slight nod of his head.
"And then we can watch a movie. Hence the perfect plan for relaxing," Harper explained with a smile as he was rather pleased with his plan even if he wasn't technically feeling 100% just yet.

"What sort of pizza do you like?"
Liana shrugged, having never eaten pizza before in her entire existence. Actually, since she'd gotten out of hell she hadn't eaten at all... aside from the couple of weeks when she'd let her vessel be in charge and she'd eaten a ridiculous amount. None of it had been pizza.
"Demons don't need to eat," she reminded him. "Pick whatever you want, I'm sure I'll like it."
"I can order pizza, you can shower cause...there's blood on you,"
Liana looked down at herself and noticed for the first time that she was indeed covered in blood. Now where had that come from? Oh right... when they had to pull over and... yeah...
"And then we can watch a movie. Hence the perfect plan for relaxing,"
She tilted her head to the side slightly as she regarded him. "Really? That's all it takes?" She didn't know why but for some reason she had thought thered be more to it. "Okay then..." she made her way towards the bathroom, kicking her shoes off as she went. "You order pizza... i'll be back when I'm clean."

"Really? That's all it takes?"
Harper shrugged slightly.
"Well I'm sure if we had a couple of million dollars then we would have a much better set of resources to play with...but until that time comes we have your fake money and my awesome taste in movies," Harper explained as he grabbed the phonebook out from under the table next to the bed as he began to look for pizza places.
"Okay then...You order pizza... i'll be back when I'm clean."
"You got it," Harper responded with a smile as he dialed the pizza parlor and placed an order for a pepperonie pizza and hung up. Laying back on the bed Harper allowed for the remote to fall to the bed next to him as he watched the old black and white version of "PSYCHO" play on the screen.
Harper stared blankly at the screen watching but not really watching the movie at the same time. Within a few moments Harper's eyes slipped shut and his head lulled to the side as he was pulled down into a nightmare he could have done without.
The plain motel room around him transformed from the avergae room to something different...something much different. Harper's eyes snapped opened but he couldn;t sit up; he was stuck...chained once more to the rack...the hooks digging into his flesh causing agony to rip through him with every movement.
Harper's eyes franctically searched the room but found nothing his eyes moving from inch to inch as blood began to cascade down the walls.
"Liana..." Harper's voice was a whisper as he struggeled against the chains. There was screaming somewhere behind him and he couldn't place it...couldn't stop it.
They had tricked him...he had thought he had gottne away...thought he escaped...
"Liana!...."
He had been a fool...they would never let him go...never let him out...
"LIANA!!!"

"Well I'm sure if we had a couple of million dollars then we would have a much better set of resources to play with...but until that time comes we have your fake money and my awesome taste in movies,"
Liana shrugged, figuring that made some kind of sense, before entering the bathroom and closing the door behind her. She stared at the shower for a long moment before deciding she would try the whole 'ridiculously long shower' thing since that seemed to be another part of the relaxation deal.
While she first had to get creative with getting the blood out of her clothes, Liana found that it actually wasn't too har to just stand in the hot shower and not do anything. And not only was it easy, it was actually kind of nice. No having to rush so she could get clean before having to go and kill, torture or steal. Just... stand in the water and just be.
She thought she heard a strange noise coming from the bedroom and immediately turned the water off, frowning as she stood in silence, listening for the noise again. After a moment, Liana decided she'd imagined it and was about to turn the shower back on when she heard it again, a low mumbling. Harper.
That was strange, he must have fallen asleep, she thought to herself as she stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around herself.
"LIANA!!!"
..or not.
Still wrapped in the towel, Liana rushed out of the bathroom and found Harper lying on the bed, asleep but clearly panicking. She couldn't imagine what he was dreaming about but whatever it was, it clearly wasn't good.
"Harper?" she asked, shaking him. Softly at first, and then with more force. "Harper, please wake up."

Harper's eyes darted from one end of the room to the other but the problem was of course that the room that had been there moments before was nowhere to be seen. Instead there was fire and blood and hell all around instead; it was a familiar sight....and a terrifying one just the same.
He should have been better at this; he should have expected it and he had for a short period of time and then he had allowed himself to get comfortable with the idea as time had gone on and then it had all been ripped away.
"No...no...please...just..."
"Harper?"
"Don't; I'm not going to do this again..." Harper protested as a whisper from somewhere around him filled his mind. If he could focus on anything but the voice then he could have something to grasp on.
"Liana..."
"Harper, please wake up."
Harper jerked as the world around him shook violently and then in the very next moment he inhaled a mouth full of air as if it would all be pushed from his lungs as he struggled to pull himself off the rack and away....
Harper's eyes snapped opened as he sat up right his eyes wide and hectic as he stared at Liana his entire body trembling with exertion.
Without another word Harper pulled Liana into an embrace. Burying his head into her damp hair Harper allowed his eyes to slip closed for a moment as he held her against him his body still shaking ever so slightly.
"I'm sorry..."

Liana didn't really want to have to slap Harper again, like the last time he ws freaking out, but if he didn't wake up soon, she didn't know wht else to do.
Fortunately, his eyes finally snapped open and he sat up, causing Liana to sigh with relief. Eyes open and sitting up meant he wasn't freaking out in his subconscious. Hopefully. There was always a chance that he was still freaking out and he just looked like he wasn't, but Liana didn't think that was the case at the moment.
"I'm sorry..."
Liana wrapped her arms around him as he pulled her into a hug, and relaxed into his arms. Yep, all un-freaking now. She was going to have to figure a way to stop his nightmares altogether, but she was pretty sure it was just a side effect of having spent a rather long time in Hell.
"Sorry for what?" she asked, rubbing her hand slowly up and down his back in as comforting a manner as she could manage. She really didn't understand what he had to be sorry about. If anything this was all her fault for getting him involved in all this in the first place.

Harper felt as if his heart was going to explode clean out of his chest as he found himself within Liana's embrace.
"Sorry for what?"
Harper allowed his eyes to slip shut for a moment as Liana's hand traveled slowly up and down his back. Her touch was something he had longed for for what felt like forever. It was a sensation which didn't bring pain with it and that in itself was a welcomed change.
"For being a wreck...I can't...I can't get it to stop," Harper whispered as he buried his face into the crook of her neck simply relishing in the smell of her crisp hair. He wanted it always to be like this; for nothing else to matter or get in the way for there to be nothing else but them.
It had felt like an eternity and he was deflated slightly to have learned from Liana that he hadn't been there long at all. Souls had suffered much longer then he; were still suffering. Liana had suffered for so much longer and he had no right to be a wreck because of it.
"You were there. You're stronger then I am," Harper whispered cringing slightly at the memories which seemed to plague him every time he allowed himself to slip away. If it continued it would be no surprise to Harper for him to find himself locked away in a loony bin resembling the one that Liana had found him int to begin with.
