"Agreed. I'm going to go take a shower and change clothes. I'm tired of looking like something a rather large cat got ahold of and dragged through a mud puddle."
Ryden smiled slightly in response to Alexis' comment in regards to her appearance. After all that had transpired it was no wonder she felt as such though she hardly resembeled it.
"As you wish," Ryden replied as he set about the task of gatehring up the bags which they had all left at the front door when other more unpleasant things had come tot ake their attention.
"While you do that I will get teh car packed and situated so that we can go and get all of these affairs done and put behind us," Ryden explained as he pushed open the back door rather pleased to find the alley behind the shop empty save for the car which they would be taking to Salem.
"Come find me when you are refreshed and if Killian isn't back by then then we'll hunt him out an dbe on our way," Ryden explained pulling teh bags intot he alley and allowing the door to the shop to clse shut behind him. As he fished out the keys to vehicle and began to load the car Ryden pulled his cell phone from his pocket and dialed Marisolla's number. He wouldn't lie he was rather pleased when his ex wife did not pick up the phone. This allowed him very little need to explain details aside from that she should be expecting a visit.
Marisolla; it's Ryden. I know you are rather unfond of un-announced visits and taking that into account I wanted to let you know to be expecting me and perhaps a friend or two of mine by days end.
Short and to the point Ryden shut his cell phone and continued loading the car for the trip.

Alexis finished her shower and determined she felt world's better, even if her life did still suck. She blew her hair dry and tapped into her backup supply of makeup since her good stuff was still downstairs. Then she headed back to her bedroom to throw on some clothes.
Alexis owned casual clothing, but it wasn't really her thing. She was a woman more comfortable in dresses, pencil skirts and Italian leather pumps than jeans and t shirts. But she figured this wasn't exactly the time for seeing how attractive she could look and it was better to settle on practical rather than fashionable. For that case, she chose a short sleeved, cream colored peasant top trimmed with lace and sprinkled with purple and pink flowers, dark washed jeans, and some brown Gladiator sandals. She threw a denim jacket over the the shirt and deemed herself acceptable, except for jewelry. She needed that.
From her jewelry box, Alexis selected a string of amber beads with matching bracelet. Once those were intact, she decided she felt more like herself and felt better in the process. As she started to close the jewelry box, she caught sight of the necklace Jon had given her. Frowning, she pulled it out.
Alexis had not had boyfriends, or any serious romantic interest. She wasn't sure what was customary when the relationship ended, but she was sure she didn't want momentos of a man who had said he loved her and then left her laying around her house. True, she could sell the necklace downstairs and be rid of it, but she needed something immediate. Slipping the item into her back pocket, Alexis vowed that the necklace would find its way into the bottom of a pond or a sewer grate in Salem.
After stopping to spitz on a little perfume, she returned downstairs to see out Ryden. She found him loading their bags into the car, which was pleasing because it meant they got out of here ASAP-or as soon as Killian bothered to come back and say where he'd been.
"Any sign of Killian?" She asked, leaning against the doorframe and watching Ryden's work.

Killian was surprised to find the relatively good mood he found himself in as he made his way through the crowded New York morning streets leading from Flick;s house back to Alexis' shop. He could only hope that Alexis and Ryden were back to normal by the time he got back and home...back to normal and hopefully Alexis had gotten his message. Glancing down at his watch Killian grimaced as the time ticked past 9:00.
He was dead meat.
Managing only to nearly be hit by a car once Killian made it back to the shopw ithout icident; maybe their luck was turning around after all. A second after the thought entered Killian's mind a tripped voer a crack in the sidewalk outside of the shop and tumbeled head first to the ground tearing a hole in his jeans and rippign the skin beneath to a bloody mess.
"Should have known," Killian muttered as he pulled himself to his feet and attempted to brush the blood off of his palms as he unlocked and pulled opened the front door to the shop.
"Hello? Anybody home?" Killian called as he continued to brush at the blood on his palms for the moemnt ignoring his bloodied knees. He had had worst after all.

Alexis studied her nails and realized that the manicure which had once been on them was now destroyed. It angered her that she hadn't been able to put up a better fight with Gardener. She was, after all, older. But Gardener didn't play fair, and that was a bit disadvantage.
Alexis heard the shop door open and close as well as Killian's voice. Turning her head, she misrepresented where her head had been, and of course half a dozen pieces of her long hair chose to tangle themselves around the door's hinge.
"Ow," she grumbled, pulling her hair away and heading inside.
As soon as she was back inside the building, it wasn't only Killian's scent that met her, but the scent of his blood as well. Alexis didn't want to know what sight she was about to behold.
Fortunately for all involved, the boy was standing upright and the only issue appeared to be his torn knees. Alexis frowned and folded her arms over her chest.
"Where the hell have you been?! And what the hell happened to you?! If I thought you had lives to spare, I'd strangle you for the hell of it!"

Killian knew he was in for it the moment he saw Alexis standing there with her arms crossed. It may have been 300 years ago but over time he had learned that any time a woman walked into a room with their arms crossed you were in for it.
"Where the hell have you been?! And what the hell happened to you?! If I thought you had lives to spare, I'd strangle you for the hell of it!"
And there it was; crossed arm syndrome.
Killian stared down at his bloodied knees and hands and tehn looked back up at Alexis; he really couldn't help but feeling like he was 5 all over again and his mother had caught him sneaking into the neighbors garden...which he had done rather often.
"I left you a message!" Killian protested in his own defense...he had actually to avoid this scenarion but that hadn't exactly gone the way he had planned.
"I tried to sleep and couldn't so I went over to a friends house," Killian explained with a shrug figuring it was safe enough to classify Flick as a friend. Though he was not about to get into her stats with Alexis cause that would open a brand new can of worms no doubt.
"And then I sort of fell asleep on their couch...and my phone...and I tripped on the sidewalk," Killian explained motioning to his bleeding knees.
"I left you a message," he protested once more.

Alexis sighed. The breath she didn't need ruffled her hair as she exhaled. She had no idea what to compare this feeling to. Part of her still wanted to shake Killian for worrying her, the other was just relieved that he was home and in one piece-even if he was bleeding which was a problem in itself, but not one that couldn't easily be solved.
"A friend's house?" She repeated the words not because she didn't believe him, but because he hadn't mentioned anyone to her until that moment. But whatever, if the boy had friends, that was a good thing. Her immediate instinct was to press for details, find out who this "person" was, where they lived-.
God, what the hell was wrong with her?!
"Look," Alexis leaned against the store's counter, "the next time you want to go running off in the night after we just tangled with a lethal vampire, do me the favor of at least saying where you went in said message? Ryden and I weren't sure you hadn't decided to go after Gardener yourself."
She wasn't in the mood to keep this up any longer. She wanted out of New York, into Salem, out of Salem, and back into New York.
"Just get yourself cleaned up, ok? I doubt you want to spend a several hour car ride bleeding with two vampires who haven't eaten today."

"A friend's house?"
Killian frowned slightly...it wasn't like he couldn't have friends...he didn't not until Flick any how but still he had never thought he came off as the sort of guy who just screamed "Do not friend this man."
"Yeah I tried to sleep...and then I couldn't so I went out to a friends house it was no big deal she was...they were fine with it," Killian explained quickly correcting himself. He wasn't sure what exactly to make out of Flick and that worried him but she seemed to not be freaked out by his lack of dying so it was so far so good.
"Look, the next time you want to go running off in the night after we just tangled with a lethal vampire, do me the favor of at least saying where you went in said message? Ryden and I weren't sure you hadn't decided to go after Gardener yourself."
"Go after Gardener?...Glad you guys think me suicidal," Killian muttered.
As pissed as he was at the insane vampire he wasn't stupid; Gardener could rip his throat...he had once before and Killian knew nothing short of the perfect plan would take down the vampire. he just had to come up with the perfect plan.
"Just get yourself cleaned up, ok? I doubt you want to spend a several hour car ride bleeding with two vampires who haven't eaten today."
"Yeah I think I'll pass," Killian muttered.
"Besides you've had your fill of my in the last 24 hours," Killian continued as he motioned to his still bandaged wrist with a small smirk.
"We still going to Salem then?" Killian asked making his way to the stairs. He knew they were he just liked to think that maybe just maybe while he had been over at Flick's the world had righted itself. Tripping over the bottom step and nearly killing himself on the wooden stairs proved to him that they were still very much cursed.

In the back of her mind, Alexis wondered if Killian didn't have a girlfriend. At the idea, a faint smile slipped across her lips. Now that would be interesting.
"Well, you can tell me about about her-I'm sorry-them in the car." Alexis gave Killian a sweet smile.
"Go after Gardener?...Glad you guys think me suicidal,"
"Good, because I wouldn't go after Gardener now." Alexis knew they hadn't seen the last of Gardener by a long shot, but she was hoping that it would be at least another 50 years or so before her reared his head.
"Besides you've had your fill of my in the last 24 hours,"
Alexis nodded in agreement. It was a shame humans healed so slowly though. She'd heard rumors, but had no proof vampire blood had any amazing effect on humans.
"You certainly knew what you were doing. And I didn't kill you, so we have some semblance of luck left."
"We still going to Salem then?"
Before Alexis could open her mouth to confirm his question, Killian was toppling onto the stairs. In vampire speed, she was at his side and picking him up by the back of his shirt to set him on his feet.
"Supposedly, if you trip up the stairs, you're never going to get married. At least that's what my nanny used to tell me as a child."
She brushed off the back of his shirt, but was distracted by the sound of breaking glass. Turning her head, she saw that the object in question was a blown glass ornament which had been hanging in the front window. It was now smashed onto the floor. Alexis groaned. The ornament was Romanian, handmade, rare-and expensive.
"After that, yes, we're going before anything else valuable ends up in pieces. I would have rather the whole store burn down than that piece break."
Alexis literally bit her tongue. She hoped she hadn't just tested fate because who knew what it could throw at them before they fixed their luck.

"Supposedly, if you trip up the stairs, you're never going to get married. At least that's what my nanny used to tell me as a child."
Killian had still been in the mindset of falling by the time Alexis was brushing off the back of his shirt. He would have loved for extreme ass speed to come with being immortal...ish but instead he had gotten basically human with a really really really long life.
"I need a super power," Killian muttered as he shrugged out of Alexis' grasp just as something shattered.
"After that, yes, we're going before anything else valuable ends up in pieces. I would have rather the whole store burn down than that piece break."
Killian stared back at Alexis wide eyed; "Did you really just say that?....Seriously? If we come back and the place is in ashes I don't wanna hear it," Killian stated with a ghost of smirk.
Their luck was by far not amusing but it was either laugh or kill themselves...and death really wasn't easy to come by in their cases.
"You do know Salem is gonna suck right? It will no doubt triple our shit luck..." Killian muttered dragging himself up the stairs with a tad bit more caution so he didn't end up face planting on them once more.
"Be down in 15 minutes," Killian muttered making his way up to his room so they could get the show on the road. On the plus side of they didn't end up dead they should be returnig to New York un-cursed...in theory.

"I need a super power,"
"You have one, you can't die." Alexis gave Killian's hair a quick smooth over. But he was right, there were some fun vampire aspects. The speed was one of them, the whole blood drinking was not. She'd always found that aspect fascinating, but she would have enjoyed have some alternative to it for situations like this.
"Did you really just say that?....Seriously? If we come back and the place is in ashes I don't wanna hear it,"
"I know, I know, I totally just jinxed us. I take full responsibility if the place is in ashes."
Alexis made her way over to the door and made sure the sign was securely on "Closed". Then she locked the front door and tested it for good measure.
"You do know Salem is gonna suck right? It will no doubt triple our shit luck..."
"We'll be all right. We're going to get this over with and then life will be normal again-for all of us."
Alexis wasn't really sure what normal was at this point, but she was going to try and find it as soon as Salem was out of the picture.
"And I still don't understand what your issue is with Salem." Alexis called after Killian as he headed upstairs. Maybe he would tell her, maybe he wouldn't.
Figuring he didn't need her standing at the foot of the stairs waiting for him, Alexis turned and started back to where Ryden was. As she was half way out the door, something smashed behind her. Out of the corner of one eye, Alexis saw it had once been a Tiffany's chandelier. Oh well.
"Killian's back." She told Ryden. "He said he'll be ready in 15 minutes."

Ryden had been pleased to hear the boy's vocie travel through the shop; that was at least something going in the proper direction for Alexis as Ryden knew if anything more were to happen to the boy she would be short on forgiving herself.
Ryden set about packing up the rest of the car for them whilst Alexis was within the shop with Killian no doubt giving the boy an earful. Whether she had noticed it or not she was quickly placing herself in the role of mother to Killian; which may serve both Alexis adn teh boy rather well...as long as they all made it back from Salem in one piece.
Securing that the trunk was closed Ryden heard the familar chime indicating he had a message of his own awaiting him.
Hello Ryden, it's been awhile. You know me too well, so I appreciate the call. I will expect you and your party...and do my best to at least pretend to be happy to see your friends.
Pleased that Marisolla had recieved the message and responded in a not completely bad fashion Ryden would like to think the trip was going to go rather well all things considered.
"Killian's back; he said he'll be ready in 15 minutes."
"And we're expected in Salem," Ryden replied to Alexis as she rejoined him in the alley.
"It would seem as if your luck is turning around already Alexis," Ryden explained as he fished in his jacket pocket for a bottle of blood he had pulled out of one of his bags for her.
"For the trip," Ryden explained handing it towards her. Considering the amount of blood she had lost Ryden wanted to make certain she was taken care of and this journey was as painless for her as possible.
Then when they returned; Gardener Wild would leave this world in a rather painful fashion.

"And we're expected in Salem,"
"Oh. Great." Alexis was not excited about seeing Compton's ex wife again. Marisolla had been a nightmare the first time and she didn't want to see it again.
"Forgive me if I'm being a bit forward, but I just don't understand what drew you to her. You need a much more...human vampire." Alexis wasn't sure she had worded it the way she wanted it to come out, but Marisolla didn't seem like Ryden's type. He needed a much more...rational vampire. Perhaps one that didn't obsess on magic as his ex appeared to.
"It would seem as if your luck is turning around already Alexis,"
"One can only hope." Alexis watched Ryden's movement for a moment and was surprised when he withdrew a bottle of blood.
"For the trip,"
Alexis reached out and took the bottle from his hands. Her eyes focused on his for a moment, until she realized unshed tears were forming in them. To hide them, she reached forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, embracing him.
"You are a good man, and a wonderful vampire. And I am thrilled to have met you."

Ryden offered Alexis a kind smile as she took the bottle of blood from him; it would be a little bit before her own blood was replenished and Ryden wanted to help her along with that so that life would be as comfortable during their journey as was possible. There were few things in teh world that took Ryden by surprise but when Alexis pulled him into an embrace Ryden could very well admitt that he was taken by surprise.
"You are a good man, and a wonderful vampire. And I am thrilled to have met you."
Ryden took the opportunity to wrap his arms around Alexis in an embrace as her soft hair blew around them.
"I am honored to know you Alexis London," Ryden whispered in her ear his lips grazing her delicate skin gently. He enjoyed teh way Alexis fit within his grasp but her previous question still chewed at him and he knew that she brought up a very good point.
"Marisolla was not always a monster; it was the crimes against her which posioned her heart. When I knew her she was a good vampire...but when I turned her she became a monster."

In all truthfulness, Alexis could not deny that she did not want to let go of Ryden Alexander Compton. There was something so amazingly comforting about him. When she felt his arms around her, that only prolonged the embrace.
"I am honored to know you Alexis London,"
"And I you." She murmured as she laid her forehead lightly against his neck. "I can't begin to thank you for your help."
"Marisolla was not always a monster; it was the crimes against her which posioned her heart. When I knew her she was a good vampire...but when I turned her she became a monster."
Alexis took a step back and looked thoughtfully at Ryden for a long moment. She'd never turned anyone, but she imagined that their past must play a huge part in what they become. Hers had basically put her in the position to become a vampire in the first place.
"Maybe becoming a vampire gave her power-in her mind at least. While she felt helpless before, being a vampire meant she could do something."
Alexis shrugged and opened the bottle in her hands. Taking a quick sip, she turned her gaze again to Compton.
"Maybe, just maybe, while we're in Salem, you can talk to her. I imagine if she changed so dramatically, maybe she can change back."
Alexis had no idea whether Ryden wanted his ex wife back or not, but she figured it couldn't hurt to suggest.

"And I you. I can't begin to thank you for your help."
Rydne smiled slightly as he felt Alexis forhead press against the skin of his neck. Though they were both technically cold as death her touch brought a certain sense of warmth to it. He had to mind himself; Alexis had plenty to worry about at the moment she did not need the likes of him getting in the way of her planned out after life.
"Maybe becoming a vampire gave her power-in her mind at least. While she felt helpless before, being a vampire meant she could do something."
"Becoming a vampire turned her into a monster Alexis; I turned her into a monster. She would have been better off had she died all those years back. There are a good number of people who had perished by her hadn and I cannot help them but I will do what I can to help you," Ryden explained.
He could still very much see the woman he had found in Salem; one Mary Harper. Found cold and alone in a cell; charged for things she had no part of. He had found her and he had fallen in love with her in a moment and when he had made the choice to end her human life and give her the life of a vampire he had killed the woman he had loved.
"Maybe, just maybe, while we're in Salem, you can talk to her. I imagine if she changed so dramatically, maybe she can change back."
"That part of my life has long since passed Alexis. Marisolla is a past chapter; one I cannot revisit," Ryden explained as he took the opportunity to brush a stray piece of Alexis' hair behind her ear.
"The world keeps moving forward and us with it," he explained with a shrug as he leaned against the car glancing up into the clouded morning sky.
