An sharp pain caused Alexis's eyes to fly open. She noticed the source immediately-she'd attempted to roll to her stomach and strained the muscles near her injured abdomen. Wincing, she rolled onto her back and stared at the ceiling for a moment as she waited for the pain to subside.
In truth, the injury didn't seem to hurt as badly as it had a few hours ago. But she still felt unusually sleepy, which she suspected meant she hadn't had quite enough rest yet. Her first indication was to go back to sleep, but she felt the need to determine if all was well yet.
Getting up and going downstairs didn't sound like the greatest option. She was trusting that Killian was still alive, and in one piece since she hadn't heard anything unusual. As for Ryden, she thought he might have been awake. The poison Gardener had injected could last any amount of time.
Alexis realized she was dozing off again. She'd sleep until she heard movement, and then get up to investigate. No point in making sure the others were all right when she couldn't do anything about it.

Ryden had never been a fan of being caught off guard...he despised it with a passion in fact and Gardener Wild had done just that and as soon as Ryden felt as if he did not dwell in the realm of hell he would be sure to rip out Wild's throat accordingly. The world around him seemed to be clouded with fog long before Ryden ever managed to peel his eyes open but once he did he found himself staring up at the ceiling and after several more moments he realized the ceiling was the one in Alexis' bedroom. The ahrd surface below him gave a clear siggn that he was on the floor though the cover which had been placed a top him meant that either Alexis or Killian...or God willing the both of them were unharmed and still in right form.
As weak as he felt Ryden would have very much enjoyed simply laying there and not doing anything but his anger and his desire to make sure the others were ok forced himself to sit up. He bit back a groan as he refused to allow his body to paint him as weak; the damn dead man's blood had already done a well enough job at that.
Blinking his eyes rapidly for several moments Ryden made out the form of Alexis on the bed and she appeared to be sleeping...he truley hoped she was sleeping.
"Alexis..." Ryden forced his vocie to function properly and though it was slightly raspy it still worked which was a important point.

Alexis's eyes were altering between open and closed. The second she got them open, she decided she was far too exhausted to keep them in that manner. She knew she needed to get up, to check on Killian....Ryden.....but oh, sleep was so good. So peaceful. And she needed it so much. Must wake up....no, must sleep.
"Alexis..."
That was the sound of a functioning human being-or vampire-she was looking for. Now she had to sit up. Alexis forced herself slowly into a sitting position. Her eyes immediately fell on Ryden, who was also sitting up.
"Ryden." She forced herself to get out of bed. She tugged the edge of her tank top and sweater gently over the wound on her stomach. She didn't want Ryden noticing just how injured she had been in his condition.
"Are you all right?" It hurt like hell to kneel down beside him, but Alexis kept the look from fully showing on her face.

If Ryden possesed a beating heart he was certain it would have been close to bursting with relief as Alexis sat up from the bed. She was alive. That bastard Wild had not done damage to her which was a fact that Ryden would have to take into account when thinking of what to do to the vampire next. He believed it would have to go in response to what had been done to the boy then...Killian; he really must remember to use his name.
Ryden's senses may have been dulled by the posions of the blood but he was old enough to be able to observe when something was not right and there was something about Alexis as she made her way over to him that was out of place.
"Are you all right?"
"I will be fine...what was done to you?" Ryden asked his eyes not missing the faint look upon Alexis' face. She was a tough woman and a vampire who it seemed was not one to show weakness. This though admirable made it very difficult for Ryden to be able to care for her if he was not given the knowledge as to what was wrong with her.
Ryden grasped Alexis' hand gently and stared into her eyes for several moments as if trying to read through them what had occured.
"Are you and the b...Killian ok? I must apologize for not being there to see through the encounter. I give you my word it shall not happen again," Ryden explained not able to let go of the fact that with the help of Wild he had been forced to fail Alexis.
That was something he would not stand for.

Alexis smiled faintly and then averted her eyes from Ryden's face. She apparently could not cover her injury as well as she thought. For a moment, her first reaction was to lie and tell him she wasn't hurt. She didn't want him to get upset in his condition. But this was a hard injury to hide, and she certainly couldn't do it forever. Besides, she was sure he'd ask why Killian needed to remove stitches.
"Don't get upset." She told him, meeting his eyes and squeezing his hand lightly. "You shouldn't get upset. It will make you feel worse."
With the hand which wasn't holding his, she pulled the hem of her shirts up and gingerly revealed the gash.
"He stabbed me....it was silver....it hurt-hurts. Not as bad as it did a few hours ago, but it's still sore. I could use a few more hours of sleep, but I'll be all right."
Slowly, Alexis dropped the fabric over the wound. It ached slightly as she moved.
"Killian stitched it up. He's fine. He's sleeping downstairs....or at least he's supposed to be trying to. He gave me some of his blood to speed up the healing."

"Don't get upset..."
Ryden had been around for long enough to learn that when someone started a statement with that it would never end well. In this case it would not end well for Gardener Wild. Ryden knew that Alexis was speaking he could hear her words somewhere in the back of his mind speaking to him but he couldn't understand what she was saying as his only focus was stuck upon the gash through her abdomen.
Ryden's eyes stayed locked upon the wound until Alexis lowered the shirt to conceal it once more and his eyes blinked back to meet with hers.
"...He gave me some of his blood to speed up the healing."
It had been a long time since Ryden had felt the complet feeling of anger and rage which slammed through him currently. It was not alien but it had not been about him for a very very long time...until now.
"He harmed you...laid his hands upon you once more even after..." Ryden could feel a growl growing within his chest but he was still not feeling 100% so there was very little he could do it about it currently...but that meant very little.
"Where is he?" Ryden knew before he even asked that Wild was not there but he could hope that just possibly they knew where he had gone and they could deal witht he bastard swiftly...no he didn't deserve a swift death...but the devil was in the details and Ryden could literally see red knowing that he was out there somewhere going off as if nothing had happened.

Alexis knew by the look on Ryden's face that he was not taking well to this. She hadn't expected him to, and she didn't blame him.
"He harmed you...laid his hands upon you once more even after..."
"Yeah, that's classic Gardener." Alexis squeezed his hand lightly. "Take what he wants, no matter what it means to others."
Alexis sighed. She was exhausted with fighting with Gardener. And she knew she was virtually useless with this curse on her.
"If I know Gardener like I think I do, he probably slunk back to Paris. That's his usual stomping ground when he's done his business. Ryden-."
Alexis closed the distance faintly between them, resting her free hand gently on Ryden's leg.
"I'd like nothing more than to take Gardener out right now. But neither of us has the strength to fight him right now-and I'm useless with this curse. Let's just go to Salem, get rid of the curse, and then we'll deal with Gardener. Right now, we both need rest. We're no use if we aren't at the top of our games."

Ryden could not help but notice that Alexis was taking Gardener's attack in stride...though this was a new occurence to him it was obviously old hat to Alexis...Ryden made a note of that and would not soon forget it when he came face to face with Wild again.
"If I know Gardener like I think I do, he probably slunk back to Paris. That's his usual stomping ground when he's done his business. Ryden-."
Paris.
That was also noted as it would be very important to know where to look for the leech when it came time to kill him.
Ryden allowed his attention to fall completely on Alexis as she rested her hand upon him. She was right and he knew that and so Ryden allowed his anger to fade ever so slightly at least enough that Alexis would not see it. The important thing was getting the curse lifted from Alexis and Killian. Marisolla was his responsibilty and it was due to him that they were cursed. So he would attend to them in Salem and then once all was straight he would hunt donw Gardener Wild and insure the man died choking on his own blood.
A faint if slightly mad look crossed Ryden's eyes and was quickly gone as he gently grasped Alexis' hand in his.
"My apologies Alexis I did not intend for my anger to get the better of me," Ryden whispered as he placed his lips gently to the top of her hand.
"Is there anything you require? I could draw you a hot bath if you believe it could help sooth you into a fit enough state to travel?"

Alexis was pleased that Ryden had seemed to relax a bit. Unfortunately, she'd dealt with Gardener one too many times. Ryden didn't need to know exactly how many times she'd had these types of run ins with Gardener-and it wasn't information she was going to deal out right now.
"My apologies Alexis I did not intend for my anger to get the better of me,"
"Don't apologize, it's completely understandable." Alexis squeezed his hand gently. "Gardener's an ass. An ass who sets out to make as many people as possible miserable."
"Is there anything you require? I could draw you a hot bath if you believe it could help sooth you into a fit enough state to travel?"
Alexis needed to check on Killian....but she was too tired. As tempting as a hot bath was, she needed sleep more so.
"No, thank you." She raised her other hand to close over his. "I don't think I have the strength right now. I need to sleep, as do you. Come on, the bed is large enough that we can both sleep without bothering the other, and it's more comfortable than the floor."
Forcing herself slowly to her feet, Alexis held out her hand to Compton. She appreciated his gentleman's approach, but she also knew the toll dead man's blood took on a vampire.

Ryden kept his eyes focused on Alexis as she forced herself to her feet and held her hand out to him. He tilted his head slighty as he looked at her; even all that she had been through she looked stunning and Ryden could not help but damn the course of life for not placing her within his path sooner rather then later in life. But that hadn't been the course dealt to them and Ryden knew it was perhaps best to simply live with the cards which had been dealt and lead on from there.
"You are far stronger of a woman then I think anyone truley gives you the credit for," Ryden stated as he carefully took her hand in is and lifted himself from the ground being careful not to put his weight on Alexis in any way. Ryden did a fair job of keeping teh discomfot of the dead man's blood to himself. There was no time for weakness not when Alexis had been harmed the way she had.
Ryden took a few steos away from Alexis to turn down the side of the bed he had noted she slept on so that she could rest properly. But he knew she was a strong woman so he stepped back to allow her to make herself comfortable.

"You are far stronger of a woman then I think anyone truley gives you the credit for,"
"Thank you." Alexis smiled and closed her hand around his as Compton picked himself up from the floor. She watched his movements as he went to the bed and adjusted the coverings. She sought to find the words to thank him, but exhaustion was beginning to cut through her once again. She just needed a few more hours of sleep, then she'd be herself and she could focus on protecting Killian and being assured that Ryden was in fact taking care of himself following his own injury.
"Get some rest." She told him, dropping down into her own place and drawing the blanket about her. "You need to keep your strength up."
Drawing one arm under her head, Alexis let her eyes drift shut. There was so much which needed done, but none of it would be accomplished if both she and Ryden were weaker than anemic kittens.
