"Think of something...anything,"
"Think of...? What's wrong?" Liana said, looking at Harper worriedly. Okay, thinking, what to think? Why am I thinking? What the fuck is wrong? Did I screw up? I screwed up didn't I? Oh shit...
Now it was her turn to panic, if she'd somehow done something wrong... if Harper was broken or something ridiculous like that... she'd never forgive herself. She looked at Harper, trying to hide the panic in her eyes.
"You're okay, right?"
Please let him be okay, please, please, please, please...

Harper stared back at Liana his eyes wide as he strained himself to hear her thoughts; to feel them to sense anything at all about what she was thinking and/or feeling. Several moments ticked by and though it felt like an eternity the silence around Harper emained and in truth he had no idea what to do about it.
It was gone he couldn't hear anything; or well not what he wasn;t meant to hear anyways.
"You're okay, right?"
"I can't...I can't hear anything," Harper explained his vocie distant as he tried to come to grips with that fact.
Staring at Liana again and being met with nothing but silence Harper scanned the area around them for the first time since they had been there on teh side of the road and nothing was there; no voices no plans no angels and demons no anything except for him and Liana.
"They're all gone..." Harper explained a faint smile crossing his face as he could hardly believe it.

"I can't...I can't hear anything,"
"Anything?" Liana asked, her eyes widening in surprise. "Like, thoughts anything?"
Well that was odd. She hadn't expected his telepathy to get lost on the way back to life, but maybe it just wasn't something you could hold onto like that. Or maybe she had really screwed up. She looked him over, he seemed fine enough, he was definitely alive, no doubt about that. Maybe it was just an extra price to pay for not actually having to pay a hell of a lot in the first place.
"They're all gone..."
The smile creeping across his face was interesting. Then again, she'd never really bothered to find out how he felt about the whole reading minds thing. "You're okay with this strange turn of events?" she asked. "It doesn't freak you out at all?"

"Nothing..." Harper explained his vocie a whispered as he attempted to strain himself once more to pick up on the faintest of whispers...anything really would have done but there was nothing and he couldn't have been happier about that.
"You're okay with this strange turn of events? It doesn't freak you out at all?"
"Not being able to hear vocies is the least of my worries right now Li...you just pulled me out of hell," Harper responded with a small smile. His own words seemed so strange to him he truley didn;t know what to make out of the last 5 years...or well what had been 5 years for him but only a handful of years to everyoen else.
It was a bit un-nerving actually sort of like a security blanket he had had forever had been torn away and it left him rather exposed but he could adapt...he had adapted in hell after all.
Shivering once more Harper looked around at the darkness which surronded them.
"What do we do now?"

"Not being able to hear voices is the least of my worries right now Li...you just pulled me out of hell,"
"Hmmm, good point," Liana replied, laughing slightly. Interesting... she'd never had a nickname before... mainly because her real name wasn't very good for nicknames... it was kind of nice.
She noticed Harper shiver and cursed herself silently. She kept forgetting that just because the temperature didn't affect her at all, didn't mean Harper was impervious either.
"What do we do now?"
Well, now, if that wasn't the question of the hour, she didn't know what was.
"First, we get off the side of the road and warm you up," she said, pulling him to his feet and helping him towards the car. She looked him over briefly. "And then we find somewhere that will do tattoos at ridiculous hours of the night."

"It's not cold...it's the summer," Harper pointed out as Liana brought up the fact that he appeared to be cold. And in truth he was since the fires of hell seemed to make life a permanent heater down below; once you were top side it was a lot different.
Harper groaned as Liana helped him up to his feet; it felt as if he hadn;t used his limbs for ages and each one of them were protesting rather loudly.
"And then we find somewhere that will do tattoos at ridiculous hours of the night."
Harper couldn;t help but stare at Liana as if she had sprouted another head...that had to be the weirdest thing she could have said in their current situation.
"It's a bit of an odd time to be getting matching tattoos Liana," Harper stated though his declaration was more of a question then anything else.
Harper inahled deeply as they made it to the car and a part of him was still very much terrified that none of this was real but he didn;t want tof righten Liana so he would keep the darker things of his mind to himself; for now at least.

Liana raised an eyebrow questioningly at Harper as he stared at her.
"What?" she asked.
"It's a bit of an odd time to be getting matching tattoos Liana,"
Liana rolled her eyes and continued pulling him to the car. "Who in their right mind would get matching tattoos?" she asked. "Although... now you mention it... it might be a good idea if I got one too..."
She opened the passenger door of the car and looked back at Harper, realising that what she had said had been no help at all. She sighed.
"Okay, I'm going to find someone to tattoo a symbol to you that will stop the angels from being able to find you... cause you can't lose a tattoo and I really don't need another angel show down."

Harper slunk down in the passenger seat his mind still not fully catching up with the events as they were happening but he decided to give them his best try...it was really the best he could do.
"Okay, I'm going to find someone to tattoo a symbol to you that will stop the angels from being able to find you... cause you can't lose a tattoo and I really don't need another angel show down."
Harper couldn't help the surprised look that crossed his face as Liana explained. She wanted them to brand themselves against angels basically? Some how that seemed to easy.
"But...if I can;t hear them any more then they wont need to come after me or you...right?" Harper asked attempting to prove his point though he wasn't sure how valid it was and he figured Liana knew more about this sort of thing then he did.
"...Ok," Harper said accepting without any further questions it was rather pointless to argue and his head was beginning to pound.

Liana knew it sounded ridiculous, and she was probably being a tad paranoid, but she didn't particularly care. For the first time in centuries she was completely emotionally wiped out, which was taking it's toll on her physically, and she would have liked nothing more than to pass out peacefully in the back of the car and sleep for a week. But she had Harper now, and he came first, and this was the best plan she had.
"But...if I can't hear them any more then they wont need to come after me or you...right?"
Closing the driver's side door and starting the car, Liana glanced over at Harper. "Hmm... yeah... good point, except for the part where the only people who know you can't hear them any more is you and me... and angels aren't real good at listening in case you hadn't noticed." That had come out far harsher than she'd planned. She hadn't meant it to... but who knew falling in love would be so damn exhausting?
"...Ok,"
Liana sighed. "Good," she said, before putting the car in drive and speeding down the road.

As Liana drove down the road Harper sat sielntly in the passenger seat staring out of the window. He shivered still as his body attempted to get used to life without hell fire once more and though his eyes wanted to close in exhaustion he would have none of it since he was terrified that if he fell asleep he would some how wake back up in hell.
Harper ran his tongue over his cracked lips and cringed slightly as the taste of dirt and blood snaked its way down his throat. The taste was naseauting and it caused his stomach to clench in protest. It was the taste of blood that triggered it.
Harper's eyes clenched shut for a moment his hands clenched to his sides as he tried to breathe through the overwhelming sensation of heaving his guts out but it was no use. Before he could stop it the memories of being froced fed blood and God only knew what else rushed back over him with such a force he could taste it all again.
"Pull over..." Harper managed to grit out between clenched teeth as he stared straight ahead his complecion pale under the dirt.

Liana stared out at the road as she drove, hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Besides being completely ecstatic (or as close to ecstatic as a demon could be) that Harper was back, she was incredibly afraid of what came next. She didn't plan well, ever, even kidnapping Harper had only been half planned and now that she had him back, she had no idea what to do next. Neither of them had anywhere to go, or any money, or any way of living. As a demon, she didn't need any of those things, but Harper did... shit.
"Pull over..."
At Harper's words, Liana glanced over at him, noticing his pale skin and immediately pulled the car over. He didn't look good, not good at all... shit.

As soon as the car had pulled to a stop Harper had wrenched open the door and tumbeled on to the side of the road. If it had been possible to literally hurl his guts out Harper was rather certain he would have done just that but instead he did the nearest he could get.
But he hadn;t eaten in weeks obviously he had been dead...the dead didn't eat unless they were zombies and that was a strict brain diet and he was rather certain he hadn't eaten any brains lately. But what it was he did manage to throw up was pure blood...mouth full after mouth full until he wished he would jsut drown and be done with it but finally it stopped and he fell back against the car drenched ins weat and shaking like a leaf.
Blood was everywhere...it had been everywhere in hell...that was after all the only thing they forced down your throat was blood. It was the sight of his blood splattered hands and clothes which caused the world to shatter around Harper and he pulled himself tightly into himself his body shaking hard enough that it threatened to break him apart completely.

Almost immediately after stopping the car, Harper was out of it and, judging by the less than pleasant sounds coming from him, he was heaving his guts out on the side of the road. Liana stayed where she was, allowing him some privacy while he emptied the contents of his stomach... which wouldn't take too long considering he'd been dead for two weeks and therefore hadn't eaten.
When the retching sounds had stopped, Liana slowly stepped out of the car and walked around it, stopping in her tracks when she saw Harper both surrounded by and covered in blood, and curled in a ball, shaking violently. Of course, she thought stupidly, The only sustenance in Hell is blood... how could she have forgotten?
She knelt down next to Harper, ignoring the blood soaking into the knees of her jeans, and wrapped her arms around him, holding him tight in an attempt to make him stop shaking.
"I'm sorry," she whispered into his ear, feeling more than a little responsible. It had, after all, been her that had killed him, that had sent him to the pit in the first place. "I'm so sorry," she whispered again as feelings of immense guilt began to take her over. It was strange how Harper could introduce so many new emotions to her, ones she barely even remembered feeling when she was human.

The whole of the world seemed to shake around Harper as if some massive earthquack had suddenyl took hold; that would have been easy to explain but the shaking, the total fear and loss of self Harper knew belonged to nobody but himself. He wished there was a way to stop it to calm himself immediately but the sight of the blood the feel of it as it soaked into his clothes was enough to drive him mad.
Harper could feel her enar before her arms ever wrapped around him but the second they did he felt himself slump into her embrace. He buried his head into teh crock of her neck and simply stayed there his entire form still sahking as he desperately attempted to find some sort of anchor from Liana.
"I'm sorry...I'm so sorry."
If it was possible for him to crawl into her skin Harper would have made an effort as he needed to be enar her; to feel her to know she was real and to never let go.
"Don't be..." he finally managed to whisper. His voice was hoarse and cracked slightly; his grip on her never letting up.
"You saved me," he finished up the trembeling subsiding ever so slightly as he tried to ignore the sensation and smell of the blood around them.
That was the truth though as twisted as it all may have seen from somebody looking out into their world; she had saved him. Saved him from the moemnt she had burst into his hospital room; her mission at that point in time rather different from the one they currently had. Harper held on to Liana as if his very life depended on it and in a strange round about way...it did.

"Don't be...You saved me,"
Liana said nothing, chewing her bottom lip thoughtfully as her hold on Harper tighetened. She may have saved him from hell, but she had condemned him to a life with her. A demon, formerly evil, forever on the run from hunters and angels. Not that she'd have to worry about that for much longer, she supposed, what with Lucifer about to rise and destroy the world, turning it into hell on earth... which meant she hadn't really saved him from hell at all, only given him a short repreive. How the shit did everything get so screwed up?
You're not safe, a small voice in the back of her head reminded her and Liana cursed. Both for the fact that the human Liana had found a way to get herself to the surface of her subconscious, and for the fact that she was right. Any second now the heavenly chickens were going to figure out that Harper was alive - if they hadn't done so already - and swoop in and kill them both.
"We have to move," she told Harper softly. "We're too exposed here."
