Tracking down Carter hadn't been nearly as bad as Michael had expected. She had found his trail as soon as she had entered the area and followed it to a familiar building. The convent where she had first encountered the Nephilim had been partially restored, clearly the man had been living here for some time.
"So much trouble hiding yourself and yet you return here." the Archangel muttered. Even if he hadn't left a power trail she would have checked this place sooner or later.
All that was left to do now was wait. Although he was gone for now, sooner or later he would return to this place, and she would be waiting for him. What happened after that was up to him. Either he would accept her offer and retrieve the graces, or he would refuse and one of them would die. Michael prayed it was the former, though she no longer would have any qualms about killing the half-breed, he was their best chance of getting back the stolen graces.
Ready to wait as long as it took, Michael settled into what she had guessed to be Carter's favorite chair. This could be a very long night.

As a whole the days following the events in the vampire nest had been eventful and tiresome but just the same Carter had work to do and the moment he felt his powers returning once more he had set about seeing to the jobs he had been hired to do. AAfterall death waited for no man...monster...and/or thing so who was he to go off and stop killing people; blood needed shedding and Carter was the one hired to do it.
His decision had been less then popular as far as Mercy went but then again Carter didn;t answer to her he was meant to protect her...sort of and so he had set about doing his own thing. His own thing which currently landed him walking into the front of the convenent drenched in blood...not his own blood but blood just the same.
As soon as the door slammed shut behind him Carter set about pulling the bloody shirt from off of him and dropping it into the trash bin. OUt of the corner o fhis eyes he thought he saw Mercy sitting down as he walked to the bedroom and pulled on a clean black shirt.
"You sittin there waiting to bitch or were you..." Carter's words snapped off though as he rounded the corner and realized that the woman sitting in the livingroom wasn't Mercy...not in the least bit.
Grabbing the knife from the back of his jeans Carter's eyes burned into the strangers.
"Who the hell are you?" Carter snapped his vocie low and holding a hint of danger to it. His pwoers were still weak but he was pickign up the faintest sensation from the chick but he couldn;t place it right off the bat.

Michael was slightly surprised when Carter just breezed past her on the way to his bedroom, and even more so when he started to speak to her. Apparently he thought she was someone else, which was strange sense she had not been able to pick up on the presence of another being. The Archangel didn't send much time wondering about it, her focus needed to be on the very dangerous Nephilim that was now demanding to know her identity.
"You mean you don't remember me, Carter?" Michael asked in a hurt tone.
She wasn't surprised that he didn't, the angel had inhabited the body of the convent's elderly groundskeeper during their last encounter, and it wasn't easy to pick-up on angelic presences -- especially one that was trying to fly under the radar. It wasn't that Michael was afraid of confronting Lucifer's hordes, she just didn't want them know she had contacted Carter.
"There's no need for that," the angel gestured to the knife, "I'm not here to fight."

The lights in the room flickered slightly as Carter's eyes blazed into the woman seated on the chair in the livingroom he didn;t know who the hell she was but he was never fond of unexpected guests and all the baggage they usually brought with them.
"You mean you don't remember me, Carter?"
"Honey if I had a doller for every time a girl has ever told me that I would be a rich man," Carter snapped with a smirk.
Even as the girl explained there was no need for the weapon Carter held on to it just the same; he would eventually be the judge on whether it was needed or not. Taking a step towards the girl Carter's eyes continued to search hers as he attempted to place where the hell he knew this person from and then he sensed it...she was an angel and not just any angel she was an archangel.
......Son of a bitch
Carter had known it was bound to happen especially with Mercy having the cloaking charm and his powers still to run down to be of any use as far as clouding his own signal went it had only been a matter of time before they came knocking.
Carter had only run across 1 archangel in his time but that had been Michael and last he checked Michael wasn't a chick...but then again...
"You dressing in drag these days Mikey?"

"Angel's don't have genders. Male or female is irrelevant, we look for something deeper when choosing vessels."
It was mostly true. Physical limitations of the chosen human meant nothing to Michael's brethren, so a small woman would be just as suitable as a male bodybuilder. Perhaps more so since the woman would be less noticeable. Some angels preferred to inhabit one gender of another, but that had more to do with the personality of the angel.
Carter had caught onto Michael's identity more quickly than she had expected. Good, with introductions out of the way they could move onto more important matters. Of course this was assuming Carter didn't just try to kill her without bothering to listen to her speak, an unpleasant but likely scenario. He had been running from the angels for years and every other encounter had ended in bloodshed.
"Put the knife down Carter," the archangel said, not moving from her seated position. "There's no need for this to be violent."
She really wanted him to just listen to her. Time was valuable, and the more they dawdled the closer Lilith came to her goal. If Carter though having the Host of Heaven after him was bad, then the half-breed really wouldn't like what Lucifer would sent his way.

"Angel's don't have genders. Male or female is irrelevant, we look for something deeper when choosing vessels."
"Riiiiiiiiight keep telling yourself that Mikey and I am sure one of these days you'll believe it. But hell you do get extra credit points for at least picking an attractive piece of ass," Carter replied harshly his eyes never leaving the angel for a moment.
It was a rather good thing that Mercy was off doing whatever it was Lassie did otherwise he would have to give her back her money for keeping the angels away.
"There's no need for this to be violent."
"Well that is a fcking matter of opinion...especially when it comes to your lot and your habbit of trying to take me out," Carter snapped his grip on the knife tightening.
"What can I do you for anyways? Still pissed off that I didn;t hold my end of the deal that I made when I was 10 years old?...By the way Mick...who convinces a 10 year old to kill themselves? I must have missed that Sunday school lesson?" Carter asked his anger mounting with every passing second. The angels had done nothing for him in his entire existence and it had been them who had taken away the only real people to have cared about him; so to say Carter was a bit on the edge when it came to them would have been an under statement.

"I gave you as much mercy as I could, your very existence is a threat to humanity." Michael said, feeling the guilt over the action. No one else had been especially happy about it, but the alternative would have been to kill the then child-Carter on the spot. Though she was counted as one of the greatest warriors ever to have been created by the Father, Michael had been unable to raise her sword.
"Unfortunately, Heaven and Earth have bigger problems at the moment than a half-breed who can't hold up his end of a bargain." She continued wanting to get to the point of the conversation. "I have a proposition for you."
The archangel stopped before stating the details of the deal, wanting to make sure she had the Nephilim's attention before continuing. He needed to be able to remember all the details of the mission, Castiel depended on it.

"I gave you as much mercy as I could, your very existence is a threat to humanity."
"Only on my good days," Carter snapped back his eyes still glued to the form of the archangel sitting across the room. If he had been a lucky son of a bitch he would have been able to get his strength back and focus on covering his own traces...but no that would be far too much to ask of the world in general. One of these days he would stop waiting for life to look out for him.
"Unfortunately, Heaven and Earth have bigger problems at the moment than a half-breed who can't hold up his end of a bargain."
A low growl sounded from Carter's chest as his eyes narrowed slightly. He really fucking hated being classified as a half breed like he was some stray at the damn pound.
"I'm sure they do. Like the fact they have a bunch of dickw..."
"I have a proposition for you."
Well that was new.
Usually it was the same old song dance of how he was a threat and needed to be dead and blah blah fucking blah. But this was a new set of numbers thrown into the game.
"No Mikey no matter how much you beg I won't sleep with you."

"No Mikey no matter how much you beg I won't sleep with you."
Michael showed no reaction to Carter's remark. It had been stated in order to get a reaction, and was therefor to be ignored. Now was most definitely not the time for a childish war of words. Lilith's plans were in motion and the angel's needed to be at full force.
"You are a sword for hire, yes? Well we have a job for you." The archangel explain. "Lilith has stolen the graces of thirteen angels, we need them back. My brothers and I can tell you when the b*tch has hidden them, but the rest would be up to you. If you do this for us we will leave you alone. One month of peace for every grace retrieved."
She leaned back in the chair slightly, trying to gauge the other's reaction.

Carter frowned slightly in response to Michael's complete silence in regards to his last comment. He had almost forgotten how not amusing it was speaking to the archangel.
"Won't be feeling you up either," Carter grumbeled as he kept his distance and the knife firmly in his hand but afforded a glance around the room just to make doubly certain they were well and truley alone. But Carter knew even if Michael didn't that he didn;t have any advantage what so ever as far as the days events went. His powers for the moment were pretty much reserved for flicking on a light or two and he had damn near given himself an anurisium trying to deduce what Michael had been.
In other words...the archangels timing was shit.
"You are a sword for hire, yes? Well we have a job for you. Lilith has stolen the graces of thirteen angels, we need them back. My brothers and I can tell you when the b*tch has hidden them, but the rest would be up to you. If you do this for us we will leave you alone. One month of peace for every grace retrieved."
Carter hated being taken off guard but to his jaw hit the floor would have been an understatement. The angels...teh assholes with wings who pretty much since forever had wanted his head on a stick now wanted him to do a job for them? And not just any job but what sounded to him like a rather fucked up one that for some reason they couldn't do on their own. Carter's eyes narrowed as he glared at Michael trying to pick up any traces of the fact that the arch angel was lying to him...he saw none.
"You're shittin me right?" Carter asked bluntly.

"No, I am not sh*tting you."
Carter's reaction, though not the yes she had been hoping for, was not the outright no she had been dreading. In other words it was about what the archangel had expected. He would need more convincing. To expect him to jump at the chance to work for the beings who had hunted him since childhood would be foolish.
"The graces cannot remain in Lilith's hands any longer, and there are few being who would survive a rain of her lair." Michael explained. "My brothers were very displeased when I suggested this arrangement. They would very much prefer that I just kill you."
She seriously doubted that Carter would care about how much convincing it had taken to get Xavier, Raphael, and Gabriel to agree to hiring him, but the Nephilim would surely catch the statement's unfortunate implications.

"No, I am not shitting you."
"Mikey language...we wouldn't want daddy and the holy rollers to smite you," Carter stated with a smirk though the wheels in his head were going at about a mile a minute as he tried to put together exactly what in the blazing fires of hell was going.
"The graces cannot remain in Lilith's hands any longer, and there are few being who would survive a rain of her lair. My brothers were very displeased when I suggested this arrangement. They would very much prefer that I just kill you."
Carter reckoned "displeased" was putting it nicely but then again it really came as no surprise; what did come as a surprise was the whole wanting...no needing him as a part of this shit storm. That was the bit that Carter couldn't help but pay attention to.
"So what you're saying Mikey is that...you...daddy and the rest of the winged wonders can't exactly get it up?...And you need me to do the job?...That's about right isn't it?" Carter asked the sly smirk now finding a permanent spot on his face.
He paced slightly allowing the moment to "sink in" you could say. After all it wasn't every day that anyone from the other side of the family came knocking when it didn't involve them trying to kill him.

"Lilith is an extremely powerful demon, she'll have taken steps to ensure that my kind are unable to step foot in her territory. Additional security measures would be set to destroy anyone else who trespasses. Hell hounds, demons this place is a death path for even the most prepared. You're one of the few who would be able to survive it."
The Nephilim didn't need any thing to boost his ego, but Michael wanted to get this conversation over with and get on with her duties. There were demons out there had grown overconfident and she was eager to remind them why archangels were so feared. There had been entirely too much civil conversation since she had arrived on earth.
"Give me your answer Carter." Michael said sternly "I have an apocalypse so stop."

So they were basically sending him into a shit storm...he had figured as much. Butit didn;t sound like naything he couldn't handle; after all killing was what he did best...unless of course the demon wanted to dance and then it could be a draw. But it wasn't the killing bit that was what intrigued him it was the fact of who was doing the "hiring" and what they were offering.
"Give me your answer Carter. I have an apocalypse to stop."
Carter raised an eyebrow as he glared back at Michael...angels were friggin pushy as hell.
"Don't get your panties in a wad Mikey I'm thinking," Carter snapped as about a million thoughts slammed through him.
13 months of "silence" from the angels wasn't gonna cut it. He could sheild himself and they couldn't find him unless he wasn't on his game and with the charm from Yasm...
The thought hit him just about as hard as a bolt of lightning and he knew that it was the final piece to make it worth wild.
"I'll do it...but not for your shit offer of 13 months of angel silence...I have my own terms."

Michael didn't visibly respond to Carter's declaration of having his own terms, but internally she was praying to her Father for wisdom and patience. This is why she had wanted Gabriel to come along. He knew how to bargain, she was much more into following orders with the point of a sword. After all, just look at what had happened the last time she had bargained.
"Tell me your terms and I'll take them into consideration."
The archangel decided to hear him out of the off chance that his terms were reasonable. She was slightly curious to find out what terms a bounty hunter found to be good. If things got too out of hand she could always pull out the 'do it or I kill you now' threat. On Michael's lict of plans that one ranked pretty low, but it was still a viable option.
