Leon had been on Poveglia Island for less than five minutes, and he already hated it. Even if he had been an ignorant tourist this place would have given him the creeps, that he had read the island's background as part of the preparation for this mission only added to the island's oppressive atmosphere. The village in Spain had given off the same feeling, so had a dozen other unnamed locations. Experience didn't make it any more pleasant.
Recent activity on the island had caught his agency's attention. A family had been attacked and scared off - though they couldn't describe the attacker. The history of the place made some of the more superstitious Italians living in the area think something supernatural was involved, but Leon had been sent to search for a more human cause. An island would make a good testing ground for bio-terrorists, it wouldn't be the first time a group of nut-job scientists had played god near a populated area.
Leon had traveled to the island on a small craft that was now carefully hidden underneath some brush along with extra supplies. A agency contact in Venice was probably the only person in Italy who knew that he was out here. There would be no help if he got in over his head.
The agent rechecked his weapons one last time before heading into the interior of the island.

The mental institution was further away from where he was staying than Jamie thought and though the sun was high in the sky by now, he still hadn't made it. He refused to admit he was lost, how hard could it be to find a big freakin' bell tower attached to a creepy old mental institute on a tiny little island? Damn hard, apparently.
Jamie sighed and leaned against a tree, dropping his bag onto the ground at his feet. Either he was out of practice or he was getting to old for this. He could be sitting at home with a beer trying to keep Flick from doing stupid stuff but no, he had to go an pick the island with the ghost infestation.
"I'm an idiot," he told himself, sliding down the tree until he was sitting. He reached into his backpack and pulled out a bottle of water, drinking deeply. The water was warm but it served it's purpose. He put the bottle back into his bag and froze, hearing the crack of twigs as someone, or something, came towards him. He slowly pulled out his shot gun and pointed it ahead of him in preparation. If it was a someone, the rock salt loaded in it wouldn't do a hell of a lot of damage but he was comforted by the fact that whoever it was didn't know that.

Gabe had let Jamie go without stopping him...even though he could have...should have...but Gabe knew better. His mother had forsaken him a few times throughout her treatment but he had always gotten back into her mind...she couldn't leave him after all...he wouldn't let her and deep down she didn't want to...she had given him life not once but twice and they both had known it.
Jamie was something different though...his Father was something different...
That was fine...Gabe was different...
Gabe had watched from a distance keeping himself wrapped in the shadows and out of sight as Jamie mad ehis way through the woods and where he could Gabe was more then willing to lend his father a helping hand in wandering off track. As the time wore on Gabe's anger grew since by the time Jamie had slumped against the tree it had seemed as if all thoughts of him...of any of it were gone.
Jamie was good at forgetting...
He always had been...
Always would be...
...until now.
"He's not here...Love, I know you know...You've got to let him go..."
He had been there though...Gabe had always been there and it had been Jamie who had refused him...denyed him but Gabe could use this...use this all to get inside of his head to twist and turn and force him to remember. Jamie may have pushed Gabe under so many years but he was attached to his soul the whole time...
Gabe would rip his soul out if he had to.
The island gave Gabe more power then even he could fully comprehend but what was important now was that it gave him the chance to appear human to anyone he came across...including Jamie now that he had at least confronted the essence once.
"This is one old game...I can play so well," Gabe whispered as he trailed his hand along side the dirt beneath his feet and dusted the matter against the clothing which seemed so real.
Someone else was there.
Gabe froze and listened closely as Jamie and himself fell into alert. It was easy to seperate the noises of the other spirits compared to another person. Gabe had not come across the other spirits on the island; he could feel them and hear them but he would not deal with them...not unless they forced him to...and Gabe had learned far long ago that it was him who was to be reckoned with not the other way around.
Shrinking into the shadows Gabe kept his eyes trained upon Jamie as he waited...as they both waited for the new comer to arrive.
"Come closer..." Gabe's vocie whispered harshly as it wrapped into the wind carrying itself through the air.

In Leon's humble opinion, phone-GPS was possibly the most useful invention in recent history. If he had tried to get around this island without it he would most definitely have gotten lost. The mental institute wasn't that far away now, he'd probably would have been able to see the bell tower if it wasn't for the growth.
Leon had just returned his cellphone to his pocket when he saw a small clearing through the trees. A clearing that was occupied by an armed man. The stranger must have heard Leon's approach because he had a shotgun pointed in the agent's general direction. Ducking down he unholstered his sidearm. Whoever was up ahead didn't look like one of umbrella's usual mooks, not enough body armor. The man was clearly not a zombie either, nor did he have the look of a Las Plagas infectee -- though there was no was to tell from so far away.
Staying low, Leon moved the the stranger's left, doing his best to be silent. When he was no longer in the man's line of fire, the agent walked forward, keeping his gun trained on the other's head. Whoever this was might have nothing to do with what Leon was looking for, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
"Put down your weapon."

For a while nothing more happened and Jamie suspected he was mistaken and no one was anywhere near him. The sounds of twig snapping had stopped and now Jamie was sure he was pointing his gun at air.
"Put down your weapon."
Jamie froze at the sound of a man's voice to his left. He must have been seen. He squinted through the trees in front of him. Yeah, he could easily have been seen through there. Damn. Jamie slowly turned his said to see who it was and first noticed the gun pointed right at his head, and then the man behind it. The man seemed harmless enough, besides the gun, he didn't look psychotic or supernatural.
Jamie put his gun down by his side and raised his hands slowly in surrender, his eyes never leaving the other man. "So..." he said casually. "What now?"

"Now," Leon said, "you tell me who you are and what your doing here."
He lower his gun, not wanting to scare the man unnecessarily. The guy was cooperating, so the was no reason to treat his as hostile. So long as Leon kept his distance, he would be able to pull his back up to a firing position should the man decide to try something...or mutate. The agent was hoping neither would happen, he could really use a mission that didn't end with large explosions.

"Now...you tell me who you are and what your doing here."
Jamie sighed. Telling the other man who he was was easier said than done. By the look of him, he wasn't here to deal with ghosts. Probably didn't even believe in them. So he'd either think he was crazy and leave him alone, or think he was lying and kill him. Oh well... no way to avoid it.
"My name's Jamie," he said. "Jamie Pearce. And I'm here to rid the island of its ghost population." He'd gone with straight to the point. It seemed pointless to talk around it.

Leon's first instinct was to pass this guy off as a nut, but the look in Jamie's eyes was sane enough. However, in Kennedy's experience ghosts did not exist. He had seen plenty of weird things in the years since Raccoon City, but nothing had convinced him that the world was filled with supernatural entities. Everything dark and scary in the world had a scientific explanation and a ballistics related solution. If this island had a "ghost population" as Jamie claimed, then it might be related to biological testing.
"Ghosts?" Leon deadpanned. "Can't say I've heard that one before. You must be headed to the old asylum then, where the doctor did his experiments?"

"...You must be headed to the old asylum then, where the doctor did his experiments?"
Jamie nodded. "That'd be right," he said. "The asylum is reported to have the most activity, it only makes to check it out."
He watched the man cautiously, he had lowered his gun so it seemed safe enough. He hoped. Jamie slowly pushed himself to his feet, leaning against the tree.
"And you would be...?"

Gabe had stayed silently in the shadows as the newcomer andJamie began to get to know each other and share why they were on the island to begin with; Gabe could have cared less about their reason he simply needed them there and the new addition had helped greatly.Gabe could feel the power of the island pulsating through him with such a force the air around him almost rippiled with the power of it. He knew it was only a matter of time before they set of to the other parts of the island and Gabe needed to make sure he was mingled in with the group of them as best as possible.
Jamie didn't know who he was...
Jamie would know...
Jamie had to know...
And if he refused...well Gabe had ways to deal with that as well.
Gabe knew it was either now or never and so he focused his energy on sustaining his human appearence and ragged his finger nails down the flesh of his arms ripping into the skin and sending torrents of blood sliding down his arms. A curious monkey had been drawn to his appearence and Gabe lashed out at the creature and slammed its head against the nearby tree so that is shattered the skull like a ripe watermelon sending blood and brain matter all over the ground. Gabe used the blood and stained his clothing and skin as best as he could until he was pleased with his appearence.
Gabe turned his eyes onto the trees which surronded them in the span of the forest and he focused; the winds picking up as he did so and a crack of thunder seemingly coming from nowhere. Situating himself under a snapped branch Gabe smirked sly as he slipped further into "character" and then called out for help his vocie holding a desperate tone to it as he waited.

"Name's Leon Kennedy. I'm headed in the same direction as you. Mind having company?"
He decided to leave out the part where he was here to find bio-terrorists, partially because his mission was classified, mostly because he hated talking about it. Too many dead bodies involved. Enemies, friends, and plenty of people in-between. Anyway, given Leon's stellar track record with back-up, this guy would probably go the way of Mike and Greg within a few hours of making contact with any bio-weapons.
Any further morbid musings on his part were cut off by a cry for help coming from the woods. All too familiar with how this scenario usually worked out, the agent raised his gun to firing position before turning to Jamie.
"Did you hear that?"

Jamie shook his head as he dusted himself off and pulled his backpack back on. "Don't mind at all," he said. "Never anything wrong with back up."
"Did you hear that?"
Jamie had. He nodded, bending down as quietly as possible and grabbing his gun. Cries of help usually meant bad things were happening. Double checking to make sure the gun was loaded with rock salt, he headed off in the direction the cry came from.
It wasn't far away from the clearing that Jamie came across a boy, he can't have been more than eighteen, covered in blood, some his own. Jamie lowered his gun immediately and took a small step towards him.
"Hey," he said, announcing his presence to the boy. "What happened?"

Gabriel had to push back the look of satisfaction which threatened to cross his face as Jamie showed up jsut as he knew he would have. He had learned several things from watching his father and he had learned certain things that were the man's trigger points and he knew exactly which ones to push and how hard.
"Hey..."What happened?"
"My parents..." Gabe stuttered lacign on the panic in his vocie.
"They've been murdered...torn apart by...by creatures...zombies...spirits I don;t know..." Gabe explained with a hint of amusement at himself as he was going to be able to play on the thoughts and fears and issues of both men.
Leon was technically of no matter to him but just the same he was there so he would be a part of this all now.
Gabe wouldn't want to leave anyone out...
"They were going to kill me" Gabe explained as he struggleed to push the branch off of himself revealing the deep claw like gashes in his arms.
"They tried to rip me to pieces!"

Leon followed Jamie through the woods, keeping his gun ready as he ran. The agent stayed a few paces behind the other man, keeping his eyes peeled for any signs of booby-traps that could very easily be concealed in the foliage. They wouldn't do anyone any good if they got caught in a bear trap or blown up by a trip wire bomb.
Fortunately the pair ran across neither obstacle, instead they found a teenage boy covered in blood. Leon trained his gun on the kid, flicking off his sighting laser out of consideration to the boy's state. Maybe everything he had been through had made him paranoid, but something about the boy was definitely off.
The agent was wondering what was happening on this island. This place was supposed to be devoid of people, yet he had found two within an hour of reaching the island, and both sounded American. The teen had mentioned being attacked by something in his ramblings, so there was a very good possibility that another bio-hazard had broken out.
"What was your family doing out here?" he asked after the kid had explained his plight.

At the sight of the gashes on the boy's arm, Jamie dropped down beside him, rummaging through his backpack for bandages. For a moment he panicked, thinking he'd completely forgotten a first aid kit, but then his hands grasped the bag and he sighed with relief, pulling it out.
"What was your family doing out here?"
"That's a good question," he said, tentatively taking the boy's arm and cleaning up his wounds. "This place is supposed to be deserted."
When the wound was clean, Jamie started wrapping the boy's arm in bandages to keep it that way. He looked at the boy's face and was caught by his eyes. A familiar piercing blue that he couldn't place. He stared at the boy for a moment before returning his gaze to the boy's arm. "What's your name?"
