Ava had just gotten home after what she was pretty sure was one of the worse days she had ever had at the office. Things had just seemed to go from bad to worse and she just absolutely hated how she felt at the end of the end of those sort of days. So to say she was happy to be home was an understatement.
"Brady?!" she called out into the house as she locked the door behind her not sure if he was home or not yet. After waiting a few seconds and realizing that only silence was going to greet her Ava slipped out of her shoes and walked across the house taking a Coke from the fridge and petting her cat Roxy who was asleep on the bar stool as she went into the bathroom and turned on the hot water filling the tub to the brim.
"It's been one of those days Roxy," she replied as she sunk down into the hot water allowing the water to sooth away her worries and anxieties about everything. After a few moments Ava actually felt herself slip into a light sleep the warm water still swirling about her. She awoke with a start the water having gone from warm to cold as a crash from the kitchen sounded through the small house.
"Brady?!" she called out slightly panicked as she pulled herself from the tub and quickly wrapped herself up in her bathrobe. She tentatively creeped out of the bathroom and into the kitchen where she had heard the crash.
"Hello? Is anybody there?"
Ava wasn't about to lie she was terrififed by the fact that someone was in her house. She grabbed a fireplace poker from its stand and held it like a weapon ready to strike out at the first thing she saw if there was anything at all.
"Roxy?...Brady this isn't funny!"

Andy had been on the road for two days straight. It was common practice for him to simply up and leave his hometown of Guthrie, Oklahoma and drive about in his van seeing this sight and that sight, smoking this bong and that bong and basically raising a little hell along the way.
No-one really bothered to check up on him during his solo road trips and if he was quite honest with himself, Andy was more than glad of the silence his ventures bought. Of course the road can be lonely but Andy found that the many women he “charmed” or “persuaded” into the back of his van on many a cold, dark night more than made up for the hassle of being alone in the world.
When Andy drove he tended to pretty much see where his feet and hands took him, never one to take notice of roadsigns or the like, Andy tended to simply keep on driving and only stop when he got bored or needed to take a leak.
That one such moment occurred on the outskirts of the small town of Peoria, Illinois and Andy managed to all but squeeze his legs closed as he tried in vain to either find a roadhouse or a section of public toilets, savage in a van he may be but Andy more than drew the line at pissing in public.
As no relief made itself known to him and Andy soon found himself in a sleepy suburb street, he allowed his eyes to gaze over the many well-lit windows shining back at the end of the many manicured lawns and he hoped and prayed to find one less....welcoming.
Bringing his van to a shuddering halt and pushing his way out of the van, Andy crept and all but limped his way up the garden path of the one house without any lights on in the front and he carefully turned the handle of the front door. Unsurprised that he found it locked, Andy took a small metallic clasp from out of his pocket and made quick work of unlocking the door.
Knowing full well that was he was doing was nothing short of breaking the law, Andy pushed his way into the darkened hallway and closed the door behind him Andy knew full well that if the cops were called he could more than handle himself in any situation and he crept his way slowly down the hallway towards the back of the house in search of a bathroom.
Pushing open a small door left ajar, Andy's face shone with relief as the sight of the porcelain toilet before him all but shone like an angel in disguise and he made quick and light work of taking the leak he so desperately craved. Running the tap with a trickle and rinsing his hands beneath the slow stream, Andy dried his hands off and sauntered back out into the hallway, nothing but satistfaction plastered across his face.
As he made his way into the kitchen of the house, he stopped briefly and allowed his eyes to find the refrigerator and he grimaced quickly. “Dude....breaking into a house to take a leak is one thing....breaking into a house and making a sandwich....felony!” he grumbled to himself and made his way slowly towards the back exit of the house.
Standing in the doorway and clutching hold of his stomach as it none too quietly began to protest at the lack of food sent its way, Andy turned on the spot and quietly pulled the refrigerator door open. His eyes all but lit up at the array of food laid out before him and he groaned and whined beneath his breath as he fought within himself not to eat the poor schmucks out of house and home.
Pulling the milk carton from its holding and taking a long swig of the cool liquid, Andy's eyes fell upon a small jar of pickles nestled at the very back of the fridge and he quickly placed the milk back. Leaning forwards and taking a gentle hold of the pickle jar, Andy attempted and failed to wrench open the cold, damp lid of the jar and as the condensation upon the glass caused the jar to slip from his hands and shatter upon the floor, Andy stood stock still and simply surveyed the damage.
Andy's fear filled eyes found the doorway as a voice called out in the distance and he found himself pacing and rocking upon the spot as he tried to fathom a reason for him to be there “Crap...crap....oh good god next time Andy just piss in the street...piss in the street and be a damn savage!”
Andy quickly made his way to the hallway towards the front exit and he slammed himself to a halt as he saw a shadowy figure make his way down the hallway towards him. “Think fast Andy...think fast...” he muttered, straightening his hair out and making his way to the sink.
Pulling the cupboard door beneath the sink open and sagging in relief at the array of tools beneath it, Andy wrenched up a sink plunger and plastered a smile on his face before leaning nonchalantly against the sink. He hoped to God that this ploy would work. He didn't even get a damn pickle for his troubles.
Taking a deep breath and twirling the plunger between his fingers, Andy did not wait for the person to arrive in full view before attempting to start his charade. “Oh yeah....jam packed full of crap....waste disposal needs to be emptied regularly or costly night time plumber visits is what you have to go through!” he called out with a slight drawl to his voice, trying to remain calm though his heart was racing a mile a minute.

Ava’s fingers were wrapped around the fire poker so hard her knuckles were turning white and her hands cramping but that of course didn’t drown out the sickening fear of knowing that someone was in the house with her…someone who wasn’t answering her.
“Oh God Oh God Oh God,” she whispered her voice barely loud enough for her to hear as she made her way down towards the sound her bare feet silently hitting against the wooden floor. She froze though as she heard a voice call back out to her one she didn’t for the least bit recognize or have any idea what they were talking about.
She inched her way closer to the voice making sure to pull her bathrobe closed properly and maintain her death grip on the poker as she edged herself against the corner of the hallway still too scared to look at the person.
“Who are you?! I’m armed with a very big…a very big stick!” Ava called out her voice shaking as she knew whoever this person was they hadn’t been in her house when she had first gotten home but they very much were.
“The sink isn’t broken,” she cried out her voice trembling as she leaned against the wall wishing more then anything that Brady would just come home.

Andy stared at the hallway, confusing flashing across his face as the person calling out to him all but refused to believe his lie, which was entirely unheard of and he gripped harder at the sink plunger in his hands. “I told you!” he cried out desperately “I'm the plumper! And I'm armed too....Yeah armed! With a very...very erm big sink plunger!” he added with a cringe.
“Come on Andy....get with it...convince the girl for Gods sakes man....” he muttered under his breath. Andy's eyes shot to the sink as the girl then called him out completely on the fact that the sink was in full working order and he sagged slightly “Well no...no it's not!” he cried out again “Or you wouldn't have called me to come out...” he added, slightly more firmer this time.
“I er....I well....Well I know what the erm...problem is!” he carried on in his charade and gripped the sink plunger between his legs. Taking a firm hold on the faucet of the sink, Andy put his whole weight behind himself and yanked at the fixing. “It's....the....faucet....” he forced through his actions “Sprung a leak entirely....won't...take...too long to...” Andy's eyes widened considerably as the faucet broke away completely in his hands and he watched aghast as a jet of water shot up from the sink and cascaded down up him. “Fix....” he added with a groan, his body being more and more saturated by the second.

Ava gripped the poker she held in her hands even tighter as the crazy person in the kitchen refused to give up.
“And I told you my sink isn’t broken! You’re in the wrong house now get out! Or I swear to God I’ll pummel you with my stick…I will!” She was of course lying and she hoped that the fact that she was scared out of her wits didn’t come through in her voice but she could almost be positive that it did.
“I didn’t call you!” She screamed back at him as he once again tried to re-state the fact that she had been the one to call him about the not broken sink. Ava inched her way closer to the kitchen as she heard the guy struggling with something and she shuddered to think what it was he was trying to do.
“If you’re a killer you should know I got an “A” in my self defense class in college…and I can totally kill you and not get into trouble,” she added in a whisper her hands shaking. She jumped back startled at the sound of something breaking and the sudden sound of gushing water coming from the kitchen.
Her mouth all but fell open as she realized this crazy person had broken something; still gripping the fire poker in her hand she turned the corner into the kitchen where water was spraying everywhere form the broken faucet.
“What did you do?!” she yelled looking at the utter disaster which was unfolding in front of her. She quickly pushed past the person and crawled under the sink and with a few turns she shut the water to the sink off for the time. She re-grabbed the poker in her hand and turned on the person her eyes filled with shock as water dripped from her hair and her drenched bath-robe.
“What is the matter with you? Are you crazy?!” Ava screamed turning to face the man, as she saw his face for the first time clearly she let out a scream of surprise and all but dropped the poker and backed herself against the kitchen counter in shock. She had seen this man before; she had seen him in a dream she had had a few nights ago which had made no sense to her at all and now here he was standing in her kitchen with her broken faucet in his hand.

Andy's eyes resembled the size of saucers as the girl who lived in the house he broke into rushed into the kitchen and he stepped aside shame faced as she crawled under the sink and the water finally stopped cascading down upon him.
As she came back up and once more started screaming at him, Andy's gripped tightened upon the sink plunger and he held it aloft slightly, his eyes blinking feverishly at her. “I was just fixing the...well rather breaking the....” Andy flew backwards and the plunger tumbled from his hands as the girl screamed directly at him and backed herself away from him.
Quickly discarding of the broken faucet onto the floor with a loud clatter, Andy backed his own way towards the door that led to outside and freedom and kept his eyes upon the girl. “I will erm....go...now....” he mumbled quietly, pointing randomly at what he hoped to be the door behind him. “I will erm...speak to my...erm boss and we will erm...make no charge for the call out tonight....gesture of goodwill...” Andy fumbled behind himself for the handle to the door and he began to rattle it quickly.
A wince crossed his face as the door would not budge behind him and he smiled awkwardly at her “Locked....” he mumbled with a nervous laugh “Safety conscious...good move....” he added quickly “Sorry for your....erm....” Andy pointed randomly at the sink and then rushed his way towards the hallway “No charge!” he cried out again and he sighed heavily as he began to make his way down towards the front door.

Ava’s eyes were wide with panic and fear and just overall confusion as to what was happening all around her at the moment. This man, the same man she had seen in her dreams the night before couldn’t be in her kitchen he couldn’t be. The dream had been so vivid yet so very confusing in so many ways it had people she had never met before in her life and demons and death and it had been terrifying; definitely the worst she had ever had and yet her was this man…Andy. Right on front of her in her kitchen…breaking her sink but still in her kitchen.
”Hi I’m Andy…also freaking out…”
“Ava…”
She knew him…well not really but she knew who he was and she knew what was going to happen to him and she couldn’t just let him walk away not without knowing what was going on herself.
“Wait! No stop!” Ava called out after him as she pushed herself away from the counter and went down the hall where he was making his way to the door.
“ANDY! Stop!”
She knew if that didn’t grab his attention then nothing would. She reached the end of the hall pulling her robe tighter around her as she stared back at him water still dripping from her hair but her eyes wide with confusion.

Andy had kept his eyes upon his door and had proceeded to breath rather frantically through his teeth as he tried to ensure he left the place as soon as, without question, cops or whacks to the head. His hand had reached out and grasped the handle of the door as the girl's voice called out behind him and he winced slightly. “Like I said no charge....I will get my boss to....”
Andy's words froze on his lips and his eyes widened considerably as he heard his name called out by the girl behind him and he fought within his memory to remember whether or not he had actually given his identity over to her. Surmising that in fact he had not given her his name, nor even a hint to his name, Andy removed his hand from the doorway and turned slowly on the spot to face her.
His eyes met hers and his mouth twitched into a confused, awkward smile as he cocked his head slightly to stare at her. His mind whirled as he tried to determine the best course of action and he opened his mouth slowly to speak before slamming it closed again. He stood within the hallway, staring at the girl before him, his mouth opening and closing in a rather accurate impression of a goldfish as he slowly weighed up his options.
“There's erm....no Andy here....” he mumbled, hoping against hope his lie would sit. “My name is erm....Rufus....Rufus Wainwright.....” he smiled half hearted and yet in his mind he hoped the girl before him would be more of the pop music, rap crap, hip hop junkie music fans. “You must have the wrong guy....” he added with a solemn nod. “Can I go....now? I'm kinda awkward around women in erm....robes....” he added with an awkward grimace, nodding down at the lack of clothes the girl was wearing.
