"Doesn't work that way..."
Mercy sighed. "I didn't think so," she said as Carter attempted to move away from her, before swaying slightly and using her to steady himself. She watched him worriedly as he reminded her to grab the money and slowly made his way out to the car.
She looked around for something to put the money in and grabbed a sack sitting in the corner. After putting the 100k into the sack she looked down into the hole, sighed and grabbed the rest of the money. The vampires were all dead, they didn't need it anymore.
When she had returned to the car she found Carter unconscious and bleeding out in her car. She tossed the sack into the back of the car and spotted another jacket on the floor of the car. She picked it up and moved around the car to the passenger side. Bundling up the jacket, she used the sleeves to tie it around Carter's neck in an attempt to keep the blood inside him and not all over her car.
"If you live, you are so taking me shopping," she muttered to his unconscious form as she went around to the driver's side, put the car in drive and sped back to the convent.
It had taken her a while to get Carter out of the car, inside the convent and back into his bed, but Mercy had managed it, although she had also managed to cover herself in his blood. She swapped the, now ruined, jacket for almost all of the remaining bandages in her first aid kit, made sure he was comfortable and then went to look for the bathroom. Upon finding it, she peeled off her bloodied clothes and stood under the scalding hot water of the shower, closing her eyes so she didn't have to see the water run red with blood. She was so done with blood for the rest of her life.
