Carter's first point made sense, fighting on his own terms was probably going to go a lot better than if the vampires came to him. The second point, however, didn't make her feel better.
"I probably would have gotten my thirty grand back anyway if you hadn't told my parents I was dead," she said. "And anyway, if they kill you, that leaves me wide open to angelic ownage. Which is the whole reason I'm paying you, remember?"
She folded her arms as he explained that just because he didn't have his powers, he could still beat the vampires. He was cocky, yes, but not convincing. She narrowed her eyes at him and cocked her head to the side before making up her mind. "I'm coming with you."

She had a point about the whole not being able to protect her from the angels if he was dead but she had the charm and that would help her out some what if he bit the big one. Besides he figured if she claimed ownership of his death she might be able to use it in her own favor.
"If I die you call out to one of those winged fucks and tell them you had me killed...they'll pretty much do whatever you want after that...they'll owe you...and technically my terms only went till I was breathing," Carter explained with a shrug as he brushed her hadn off of his shoulder.
"No you're not," Carter cut her off sharply.
"They're vampires Lassie...not puppies. This isn't some puppy mill rescue escapade...this is a nest of fucking pissed off vampires and I'm not having your blood on my hands...unless I'm the one who puts it there."
He had been waiting for her to declare she was going it was just an action that screamed "Mercy Thompson" and she hadn't disappointed.

"Yes, well, as tempting as that offer is, I'd quite like you breathing a little longer," Mercy said, not backing down.
"They're vampires Lassie...not puppies. This isn't some puppy mill rescue escapade...this is a nest of fucking pissed off vampires and I'm not having your blood on my hands...unless I'm the one who puts it there."
Mercy frowned. "Should I be insulted or touched by that statement, Carter?" she asked. "Look, I've spent a good portion of my life killing things that go bump in the night. I think I can handle a few vampires."
She stepped towards him and looked up at him defiantly. "If I go as a wolf, and point myself away from you, I can back you up and you won't get your stubborn ass killed."

"Oh now really? The offer of hot sex always stands Lassie," Carter replied with a smirk as she stated that she would like him breathing for a bit longer.
"You can take it anyway you want to Mercy but either way I mean it. I'm not about to have your blood on my hands...blood's a bitch to get out and I jsut got this shirt."
Carter was growing impatient and he knew that if he was that meant the vampires were long since impatient and he really didn't want them banging down the door and anyone getting caught in the crossfire.
"It's a NEST of vampires Lassie not the Count Chocula convention," Carter said attempting to drive the point home once more but he was beginning to think he would have better luck argueing with the door.
"Stop checkin out my ass," Carter stated with a wink as he shook his head over her latest offer. He wasn't going to get her to stay behind unless he knocked her the fuck out and he didn;t feel like doing that at the moment.
"You're a fucking pain in the ass," Carter growled as he pushed open the door but held it open for her to go through as well.

Mercy rolled her eyes as he brought up sex... again. "If we could keep the conversation focused on reality that would be great," she said dryly.
She resisted the urge to tap her foot impatiently and simply raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for him to either let her help or lock her in her room or something. "I'm aware of that," Mercy said when he pointed out, again, that this was a nest of vampires. "Which is exactly why you can't go in there alone."
"What ass?" Mercy asked, her expression becoming coy. "Oh, you mean that bit of your back that bends? That's hardly an ass, darling."
"You're a fucking pain in the ass,"
Mercy grinned. "Yes, yes I am," she said, brushing past him quickly before he changed his mind.

"You don;t know the half of it," Carter growled as he slammed the door shut behind him and adjusted his weapons in their proper places. This was going to be a fucking blood bath.
Carter reached out and grabbed a hold of Mercy's upper arm and turned her to face him.
"If things get out of hand I want you to run do you understand me? Don;t fucking worry about me you fucking worry about you do I make myself clear?" Carter asked for the first time since he met Mercy he was dead serious and his eyes cleary showed it.
He wasn;t gonna waste any more time argueing with her about whether she could go or not but she wasn;t gonna get herself killed just because she could.
"Nobody kills you but me," Carter added on with a smirk to break the tension slightly.

Mercy looked Carter right in the eye when he spun her round to face him and ordered her to leave him behind if she had to. She wasn't the kind to leave someone to die but judging by the look in his eyes, there was no arguing with him. She nodded. "Got it."
"Nobody kills you but me,"
She looked at him, smirk on his face, and laughed slightly. "I think I can deal with that," she said. She was wide awake now, and she could feel the wolf inside her pumping herself up for a fight. Sometimes it freaked her out that she had a whole other personality locked inside her. But tonight it would come in extremely useful so she didn't fight it.
"So, where are we going?"

"Good," Carter replied sharply as he patted the top of her head with a smirk knowing it would get the proper response out of her.
"South of Burbon Street; old run down plantation house right along the outskirts of town they have themselves set up a nice little bed and breakfast...and yes it sounds exactly like what you think," Carter replied his tone cold and dark...he fucking hated vampires.
He took off in the direction they needed to go without waiting to see if Mercy was ready; he knew she was and if she wasn't figured she could get to fast enough to catch up.
"You can either go in with me off the bat or wait and listen for when all hell breaks loose...doubt there will be much of a fucking break in between," Carter explained his mind going over several different ways this could all play out in his mind. So far they all ended up with him dead but stranger shit had happened. It was rigth baout now he wished he hadn;t used all of his powers...fucking parents.

Mercy took a swipe at Carter's hand as he patted her head and glared at him, then immediately wished she hadn't. He only did that shit to annoy her... and it worked. She did her best to keep immature thoughts like 'boys are stupid' from creeping into her head but with Carter around, that was increasingly difficult.
She didn't miss the dark tone he'd used when explaining the vampires' location to her. "Not a fan of the leeches I take it?" she asked, falling into step beside him.
She debated her options, go in with him and lose the element of surprise, or go after him and most probably get there after they'd made him dinner... decisions, decisions. "I go in with you," she said. "If we're lucky they'll underestimate me for a while until I change. And I'm not risking the time between all hell breaking loose and you being dead being too short for me to actually do something about it." It was a good thing she'd changed into cheap, comfortable clothing after changing at Carter's, at least she wouldn't feel upset about sacrificing this set, allowing her to not have to waste time undressing first.

Carter returned Mercy's glare with a satisfied smirk; she was very easy to get riled up and even in the worst set of scenarios it was amusing as all get out.
"Not a fan of the leeches I take it?"
"They're a pain in the ass. Fucking picky to boot and they bitch more then you do," Carter explained as they continued on through the old graveyard that lay on the edge of the convent. At one point in time the place had been massive and taken care of like no other; it had been the pride of New Orleans churches and what not...before the Catholic church had realized that New Orleans was filled with nothing but sinners and scampered their nuns off to greener pastures.
Carter stopped for a moment as mercy proclaimed that she would go in with him instead of waiting for shit to hit the fan. He had to hand it to her she was pulling more white rabbits out of her hat then he thought she had.
"You worried about me Lassie?" Carter asked with a smirk as he continued on now hsifting through the forest which would eventually lead them to the side of town they needed to be to get to the nest. He could have taken the Jeep but if he bought the farm he didn't feel like leaving his girl there for the blood suckers to do what they wanted with.
Carter stopped short and turned around to stare at Mercy for a moment a sudden thought crossing his mind.
"You're not suicidal are you Lassie?...Because the goal here is not to die...and to be 100 grand richer in the span of an hour..."

Mercy rolled her eyes when Carter asked if she was worried about him, with that stupid smirk on his face. Truthfully, she was worried that he was stupid enough to willingly walk into a nest full of seriously pissed of vampires in his weakened state, but she kept that to her self. "What can I say?" she said instead. "Life's more interesting with you around."
She turned her attention to the ground beneath her feet, leaves and sticks crunching underneath her, this forest was almost relaxing, except for the part where it's on the way to slaughter of epic proportions. She was so focused on the ground that she didn't notice Carter stop suddenly and walked into him. She regained her footing and stepped back, looking up at him with a questioning look on her face.
"You're not suicidal are you Lassie?...Because the goal here is not to die...and to be 100 grand richer in the span of an hour..."
Mercy sighed. "I can think of better ways to kill myself than to be torn apart by vampires," she said. It wasn't a no but she hoped he would accept it. "And we'll get you your money, the only problem will be carrying it out of there."

"A lot of things are more interesting with me around Lassie...it's about damn time you came to grasps with that," Carter replied with a slight smirk.
"I can think of better ways to kill myself than to be torn apart by vampires."
It wasn't a yes...but it wasn;t a no either; it was actually the sort of smart ass remark he would have offered up so he really couldn't bitch...not in good concious any how.
"Oh I'm sure getting the money out wont be as big a problem as you might think," Carter explained with a knowing grin. He had on good information that the vampires liked their cars...hell if they managed to kill them all and survive in one piece they could have their pick of the litter so to speak.
"And by the way Lassie... you don't need to fake bump into me to cop a feel...it's an open offer," Carter stated slyly before turning and continueing on through the trees and brush.
As they made their way through the darkness Carter was attempting to play the different scenarios in his head. He could take a few of them out but he wasn't exactly sure how many and he wouldn't know till he got there...he fucking hated surprises. There was also the problem of Mercy; she of course wouldn't see herself as an issue...Carter saw her as a big fucking problem one he would need to sort out accordingly before she ran into the nest gun blazign and got herself ganked.

Mercy shrugged. If he had a plan to get a hundred grand out of the nest then that was fine. As long as it didn't involve her carrying heavy bags of money on her back.
"And by the way Lassie... you don't need to fake bump into me to cop a feel...it's an open offer,"
Mercy pulled faces at Carters back when he turned around and mentally fought with herself over whether or not to kick him up the ass as hard as she could. Eventually she decided against it. It didn't seem like it would make fighting a whole lot of vampires any easier. Instead she took a deep breath and followed Carter through the trees.
"Do we have a plan?" she asked. "Or are you just going to start cutting and hope you get them all before they get you?"

"Do we have a plan? Or are you just going to start cutting and hope you get them all before they get you?"
Carter stopped keeping well into the shadows as the large plantaion house came into view and mercy's question filtered through the small space between them.
"That was my plan," Carter replied his eyes never leaving the house which loomed before them.
The lights inside of the house were blazing against the darkness of the night sky and it seemed to be a rather populated location tonight. He had figured it would be though; one of their nest members had been killed that seemed like something the whole nest would need to see too; it would have been too much to ask for a 1 on 1 meeting.
Carter inched his way up the the rot iron fence which bordered the house but was still enough on the edge to keep the both covered before he turned back to Mercy.
"I need you to do something for me..."

Mercy halted and, following Carter's lead, kept to the shadows as she watched the vampires's nest with interest. There were a lot of vampires there, more than she'd thought. It should have made her nervous but it just made her feel better that she hadn't let Carter go alone.
"That's not a plan," she said, frowning at him. Okay, so him going in alone was a bad idea but she didn't particularly like the idea that he was going to get her killed.
Mercy watched Carter climb the fence, a slightly confused look on her face. She didn't really see how that was helpful. Then he turned to her.
"I need you to do something for me..."
Uh oh, she thought. Out loud she said, "Okay, sure, what?"
