The silence that filled the room pretty much confirmed for Carter that Mercy had decided to grab her stuff and get the hell out while she still could. A smart move as far as he was concerned; everyone who had stuck around him long enough had ended up dead anyways...or sent to hell. Mercy was the first person he had let within a foot of him since Yasmin had been dragged off to hell because of him and it was not an experience he was too eager to repeat.
Carter slouched down further on teh couch allowing his head the lull back against the head rest and his eyes to slip shut for several moments as he enjoyed the silnce and the wondes it did for the jackhammer that was slamming against his head.
"I'm not leaving."
Carter's eyes snapped open and his attention focused back at Mercy as she declared that she was staying and for some reason suddenly needed to know where the kitchen was.
"It's your funeral," Carter muttered as he slouched back down into the couch his arm drapped over his eyes to shut out the lighs in the room.
"Kitchens down the hall and to the left," he explained not half caring what she wanted to do in there. If he was lucky it would involve a meat cleaver and his temple.

Down the hall and to the left, Mercy found herself in the kitchen and began rumaging through the cupboards. Boxes of pasta, rice and other dried foods filled them, but she couldn't find anything fresh anywhere. "I am not living on dried pasta," she muttered under her breath, still searching. Eventually she found a cupboard filled with cans of fruit, vegetables and soup. She sighed and pulled out a tin of tomatoes, stared at it for a moment and shrugged. "This'll do."
Not long after, she had managed to prepare a half way decent meal. She was going to have to do some serious shopping if she was going to make any real food, but this would do for now. She started to take it into the main room then stopped, remembering Carter's issue with lights. Nose bleed + alcohol + aversion to bright lights = serious headache. She filled a glass with water, then picked up the plate of pasta, heading back into the living room. Rehydration was the best she could do until he'd eaten. Then she'd find him some painkillers. She put the plate and glass of water in front of Carter and sat down in a chair opposite.
"Eat," she said firmly before adding, "please."

Carter didn;t even notice Mercy make her way out of the room and off into the kitchen. He had taken a bit of comfort in his current position and with the lack of bitching...hers and his though he would not admitt to his own he allowed himself to fall into a guarded sleep...sleep was sleep after all and it would be a start to getting himself back on track as far as not being a total waste at the moment.
Carter hadn't realized how long he had been out of it for until the faint sound of Mercy entering the room and placing something in front of him jolted him up right and immediately on guard. He relaxed slightly with a forced breath as he realized it was only Mercy. He wasn;t sure the last time he had ever fully "relaxed" in sleep...more then likely sometime before he was 10 years old.
Carter eyes the plate of food and glass of water Mercy had placed in front of him skeptically before looking back at her.
"You know there are quicker ways to kill me besides posioning my ass...I have a fuck load of swords if you want one."

Mercy suppressed a laugh, noticing she'd given Carter a fright by entering the room. She'd never really expected to catch him off his guard... ever.
"You know there are quicker ways to kill me besides posioning my ass...I have a fuck load of swords if you want one."
Mercy rolled her eyes at him. "If I was going to kill you, I would have cut your head off while you were sleeping," she pointed out. "Besides, where the hell would I get poison from?"
She stretched a bit and relaxed into the chair, watching Carter examine the food she'd put in front of him. "You're weak, you need food, so eat," she said. "I can cook, by the way, so it's only going to taste bad if you let it get cold."

"True enough," Carter agreed with a shrug as Mercy explained she could have just sliced his head off...though that would have allowed him needing to be at her mercy which he wasn't entirely.
"Top right kitchen cabnet over the microwave actually...there are a few different froms of arsonic...for special occassions," Carter explained with a shrug in response to Mercy's question about posions.
"I'm not weak," Carter snapped his eyes darkeniing for a moment as he glared at Mercy for the briefest of moments. He examined to food once more before opting for the glass of water first and after he ahd downed mroe then half of it he picked up the fork and shoved the food around the plate for a moment before looking back at Mercy and then back down at the plate of food.
"If I die I'm haunting your ass," Carter declared before starting to eat.
"Aren't you gonna eat anything? Cause it;s kinda creepy you staring at me Lassie,"" Carter asked skeptically after a few mouthfuls.

"Exhausted then," Mercy corrected herself as Carter glared at her. That seemed to have struck a nerve, she'd avoid that topic in future. She watched Carter play around with the food on his plate before finally resigning to eat it.
"If I die I'm haunting your ass,"
"Oh don't be so dramatic," Mercy said, shaking her head at him. "It's just food."
She shook her head. "Im not... in the mood to eat," she said. She still stunk of blood, no matter how hard she'd scrubbed in the shower, she couldn't get the stench off her. That kind of thing tended to ruin a girl's appetite. "Besided, creeping you out is highly amusing." All the same, she turned her attention elsewhere. She pulled the silver charm out from under her shirt and examined it closely, it had celtic writing on both sides of the pendant, and markings she'd never seen before on the sides. She traced the engravings lightly and thought about asking Carter about it but then changed her mind. He didn't seem like the 'if you need anything feel free to ask' type.

"....Says the wolf...I'm sure the 3 little pigs were just food too," Carter replied back with a smirk before he continued on eating.
"I can find a handful of other things I am then just amusing Lassie."
Carter's attention fell on Mercy as she began to fidget with the charm that he had placed around her neck. He stared at it and her for several moments longer then he should have before pulling his attention back down to the food. He finished eating silently pushing away the thoughts of Yasmine which threatened to creep in. On top of everything else he really didn't need her sneaking into his mind right about now; Mercy was bad enough and she was there in the flesh.
"Thanks," Carter muttered under his breath as he set the empty plate down on the coffee table.
"Stop messin with that; you'll lose it and I would hate to have to kill you after we've made such progress," Carter stated not kidding in the least bit.

"What, you've never eaten bacon?"
"I can find a handful of other things I am then just amusing Lassie."
Yeah, annoying, violent, scary as hell... were just a few words that came to mind, but Mercy kept them to herself. She really didn't need to be slammed against another wall. She fidgeted with the charm some more, it was strange, she felt she had to touch it just to make sure it was there.
She looked up at Carter as he snapped at her to stop playing with the pendant and rolled her eyes. "Cause looking at it is going to make it suddenly fall from my neck and get lost in the vortex," she said sarcastically. But she obediently tucked it back under her shirt and raised an eyebrow at him. "Happy?"
She stifled a yawn and stretched out on the seat again. She hunted demons for angels and still this was the most eventful day she'd ever had, it had taken a lot out of her. She stifled another yawn and shook her head irritatedly.

"If I didn't know better I would think that was a joke there Lassie," Carter replied with a smirk in response to Mercy's comment about bacon.
"Exceedingly so," Carter muttered as Mercy tucked the charm back under her shirt. If she kept it away it kept Carter's mind off the fact that she was the one who had it now instead of himself...at least for the time. He really needed to figure out how to fix that problem because he was pretty sure if an angel came knocking down the door looking for him and instead found the both of them it would still be points against him.
"You know there's a bed in that room you dumped your stuff in; people usually use those to sleep on," Carter replied as he pulled himself up from the couch only swaying slightly before he grabbed the plate on the coffee table and dumped it into the nearby trash can. He didn;t do dishes.
He made his way to the liquor cabinet and fished out a new bottle of Jack Daniels and poured himself far more then his head would recommend; but it was good for him that he was making the calls and not his his head.

Mercy frowned as she watched Carter dump the now empty plate into the trash can. She would have washed it if he'd asked her to.
"True," she said, in response to his comment about the bed. "But that bed is all the way at the end of the hallway, and I'm very comfortable where I am." The seat she was in was a lot more comfortable than it looked, she leaned back into it and felt her eyes begin to close. "I just don't have the motivation to get up."
Movement in front of her caused her eyes to open and she saw Carter pull out yet another bottle of alcohol. She sighed and allowed her eyes to close again. "You probably shouldn't drink that," she said, her drowsiness finally finding its way into her speech, making her slur her words slightly.

"You probably shouldn't drink that."
Carter couldn't help but smirk in response to Mercy's warning.
"You know you're right Lassie...and my dad shouldn't have screwed my mom either; it would have saved me and the rest of the world a shit load of trouble," Carter offered with a smirk as he downed the entire glass of Jack Daniels with a slight wince as the liqui burned its way down his throat.
"Son of a bitch," he muttered slamming the glass back on to the table.
Carter stared at Mercy who was on her way to falling asleep where she sat and he wasn;t gonna argue with her.
"Your ass falls asleep that it's where you're staying," Carter stated with a smirk as soon as the sound of ringing filled the room. Carter made his way over to the old book shelf on the side of the room and he grabbed a cell phone that was perched on top of the shelf looking at the screen Carter couldn't help the slew of curse words that fell from him.
"God damnit," he muttered before flicking open the phone and holding it to his ear without saying a word...he didn;t need to they knew he was on teh line and they layed into him immediately.
"Well you're dead ass shouldn't have fucking sent him and I wouldn;t have killed him..." Carter growled before slamming the phone shut and hurling it across the room where it hsattered against the room.
He was in no mood or condition to go to the "meeting" but apprently he had little fucking choice; the vampires were pissed and Carter would be out 100k if he didn't show.

Mercy had very nearly fallen a sleep where she sat but a piercing ringing noise pulled her into full consciousness and she groaned. "Not sleeping then," she muttered, sitting up straight and blinking several times. She didn't really pay much attention to Carter's swearing, or his conversation with whoever was on the phone, but she jumped in surprise when the cellphone hit the wall and shattered.
"So, you don't like cellphones, huh?" she asked, looking from the pile of scrap that used to be her cellphone, to the pile of scrap that used to be his. She turned her attention to Carter who looked pissed, and decided jokes probably weren't appropriate right now.
She frowned at him in concern. "What's the problem?"

"They're pricks," Carter muttered in response to Mercy's question in regards to his hatred for cellphones. She had a point that would be 2 in the last hour and fuck him if he didn't actually need his...whoops.
"Fucking vampires," Carter gritted out as he made his way down the hall and pulled his words from their casing and slipped them into their holders before securing it on his back. He was pretty sure this was suicide but he didn't have much of a choice there was no way he was just walking out of 100,000 dollars; not while he was still breathing to collect it.
Making his way back into the room Carter nudged off the sneakers he had on and laced up his boots before downing another glass of Jacks attempting to find his cool and his center somewhere.
"Apprently the fangs are a bit pissed that I ganked one of theirs...apprently the last one that got a bit touchy feely with your scent wasn't on the "Honey Do" list...so their a bit pissed off and have requested to see my ass before they pay me...which means I am gonna have to kill athe fuckers now to get my money," Carter explained curtly before rumaging under the nearest couch and pulling out a flask of holy water and tucking it into his belt as well as several silver daggers.
"If I'm not back in 2 hours take your 30 grand and get as far from here as your 4 legged ass can take you cause they'll be coming here looking for some more blood," Carter explained sharply as he made his way towards the door.

Mercy watched as Carter armed himself for his vampire show down. So that last vampire wasn't on the kill list and the nest is pissed... uh oh. But Carter had almost wiped himself out healing her and it was total suicide for him to enter a vampire nest.
"If I'm not back in 2 hours take your 30 grand and get as far from here as your 4 legged ass can take you cause they'll be coming here looking for some more blood,"
That didn't sound promising. She pulled herself off the chair, almost tripping over her own feet in her haste to reach him. She had had her eyes closed for too long and the movement made her dizzy. She swayed slightly before putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him from walking out the door. "You are in no condition to take on a nest of vamps," she said, looking at him pleadingly. "Can't you wait until your powers have recovered or something?"

Carter spun around to face Mercy as he felt her hand on his shoulder; this was unexpected he hadn;t thought she would come after him; hell if he were dead she would be rid of him and 30 grand richer once again.
"I'm either gonna go to them Lassie or they're gonna come to me. I would rather do it on my own terms," Carter explained his vocie even as he looked back at her. He had to admitt the cocnern was a bit...uncomfortable; but then again he never really did well with that sort of thing to begin with.
"Besides look on the bright side if I bite it...or well if they bite me you get your 30k back right?" Carter explaiend with a half hearted smirk.
"And besides I have a chance of beating Dracule and Company...not a really large chance but I'm more then just my angelic powers...a lot more...just farless graceful without them," Carter explained with a shrug.
He knew he was fucked but he didn;t want her to know it...though he was pretty sure she was smart...too smart actually it was sort of a pain in the ass.
