The night was pretty friggin encompassing as Andy made his way from the small hunting shack that had served as the old man's house. A dead oak tree and a dead dog all lay in wake yet the old man…the man he had been suppose "reap" was still very much alive sleeping in the cabin. He was no friggin good at the damn job and he was no good at killing people even if there were like a million years old and rotting he just couldn't do it and he knew his time was going to run out in the fucking it up department and the only thing he had to figure out was how exactly to remain not dead once death got tired of him screwing things up.
Though the fine print…not that there had been an actual contract never stated what exactly happened if he continued to screw up; he was willing to place a few good sized bets to as the location he would end up.
He had parked about a mile down the road being that his van wasn't the most blend friendly vehicle he could have so he made his way slowly down the dark road his hands shoved firmly in his pockets and his head down as he kicked the rocks along as he went. Since he had been back things had gone from bad to worse but then again being killed was never a good way to start something off. He wished to whoever the hell was listening that he could just go backwards and not know half of the shit if any of the shit he knew.
Cool mind powers skills and that was end of the story but he had been less then lucky in that department. Stumbling over a rock and falling into the road Andy allowed a few choice curse words to echo through the night sky as he hauled himself from the ground and brushed himself off.
"Sure...why not...," Andy muttered bitterly to himself as he finally righted himself and continued down the road towards his van. He was planning on doing absolutely nothing when he got back to it he wasn't even going to move the thing. He needed some quality time with Moby Dick and everything else could go to hell for the moment.
Finally reaching the van Andy pulled out his keys from his pocket and yanked open the door making himself comfortable in the back for a moment. He allowed himself to lay back as he stared up at the disco which hung from the roof. Everything he had and everything he was was all in this van and he just wished there was a way he could block everything else out.
Without even realizing it Andy fell asleep moments after laying back on the mattress. When he woke up it was shinning brightly outside and Andy was more then confused till he remembered where he was.
He sat up allowing his hands to brush over his eyes a few times trying to brush away the cobwebs or well the less permanent ones. He decided there was no time like the present to get that quality time scheduled in and he proceeded to spend several of the early morning hours getting the world to vanish around him if only for the time. There was a problem with the loads of course and soon enough he had a rather annoying issue of the munchies to deal with so he resigned himself and headed back into town parking his van a few blocks away from the local diner and went to go appease the beast.
He enjoyed times like these they made him feel like the old him not the screwed up version of him that had come out of frontier land but then again he couldn't bitch too much he was pretty sure being dead was a worse option. After 2 hamburgers and a batch of cheese fries Andy was doing much better and heading from the diner he allowed his eyes to scan the area around him rather content with the day so far.
"Nothing to bitch about is a good start," he whispered to himself as his van came back into view; he fished in his pockets for the keys.
