Liana had been watching them for some time through the window, the woman and the young girl, and still couldn't see what was so special about them, but orders were orders. She moved to the front door and pasted a polite smile on her face as she rang the door bell. It was answered by the woman, with long blonde locks of hair framing her face, and a kind yet confused smile.
"Yes? Can I help you?" She asked, looking at Liana closely, trying to figure out if she knew her.
"My name is Liana, and I just moved in down the street," Liana explained, the lie sounding stupider to her as she continued. "and I was wondering if we could borrow your vacuum cleaner, ours doesn't seem to clean anymore."
The woman frowned then smiled again. "Of course you can, dear," she said, ushering Liana into the house. "I'm Mariah Collins, and that over there is Eve," she said, gesturing to the young girl sitting at the table.
Liana looked around the house. "You have a lovely home, Mrs Collins," she said. "Where's Mr Collins?"
"Away on business," Mrs Collins explained cheerily as she wandered down the hall. "He-" Mrs Collins failed to finish her sentence as she found herself flying through the air, hitting hard into the wall. Liana had her arm out stretched, palm outward and was looking at Mrs Collins intently. "What..." Mrs Collins whimpered. Liana's eyes turned black and Mrs Collins screamed, drawing little Eve's attention to what was happening. Liana slammed Mrs Collins head back-wards into the wall, knocking her out. Eve screamed as well and Liana turned her attention to her. She waved her hand and the table Eve was sitting on moved closer to the table, holding the little girl down. She then held a finger to her lips and Eve's screams subsided, although she continued to try.
"Always screaming," Liana muttered as she walked down the hallway to-wards Mrs Collins. She picked the woman up by the collar and dragged her back into the main room. She pulled out her knife and looked at it fondly. Eve's eyes widened but still no scream escaped her lips. Liana knelt down to Mrs Collins and slapped her across the face. "Wake up, Mrs Collins, I want you awake for this," she said. Mrs Collins slowly opened her eyes and Liana held a hand over her mouth to keep her from screaming. "I imagine this will hurt a lot," she said and slid the knife slowly down Mrs Collins left cheek, blood mixing with tears.

To choose to inhabit the body of one of their Father’s most precious children was not something an angel did without a great deal of thought and prayer and guidance from powers which far exceeded their own. To take a vessel was not as a demon did and unwillingly forced ones essence into the body of another; for an angel it was a union of the vessel and the angel and while bonded together neither could survive without the other.
Castiel had observed the man who would later be his vessel for some time. He was a good man, a man who was religious and righteous, one who served his family and God before himself and one who provided willingly to those he loved without question…he was a man who in Castiel’s eyes did not deserve the cancer which had ravaged his body. The Collins family had always been a kind and caring family none of its members ever going against God but then again that was not the cause of sickness for anyone of his Father’s children and Castiel knew this and as the prayers of Devon Collins sounded for his Father and Castiel knew this man would be his vessel to do the will of God in the upcoming war against Lucifer.
Many would say that when a person prays to be used as a vessel of the Lord and wishes for God to work in and through their life they do not mean in a literal fashion. Devon Collins would be one of a selected few that would learn in a very short span of time to be careful how exactly prayers to God are worded. Once Castiel had chosen his vessel and had for lack of a proper term possessed it he had set forth in healing the bodies aliments; he would claim to those above him that it was a necessity in order to ensure the vessel was proper for the war but in the depth of Castiel’s own spirit he knew he had done it for the man who would one day live without the company of an angel within him.
Many of his brethren would not see the need to look after the family belonging to their human vessels but Castiel would let allow the Collins family; a good family to suffer because of the war he was a part of and where he was able Castiel acted as their guardian self appointing Mariah and Eve Collins as charges of his own while he was in possession of Devon Collins.
Castiel had felt the moment something was no longer right at the Collins home in Vermont it had screamed clean through his very spirit and he had made his way to the home immediately. Appearing just past the entrance of the door Castiel’s eyes took in the immediate feel of the house and knew that the family which had lived in peace before the war had now come face to face with the evil Castiel and the others in his garrison fought so hard against. It was a scream which tore Castiel into action; a scream of pure terror one which Castiel would have given anything not to hear within the walls of this home or any other home of his Father’s children.
In a moments time Castiel appeared behind the demon who held the knife against Mariah’s Collins flesh piercing her skin and causing the woman’s blood to pour down her cheek as Eve watched from a few feet away. Castiel’s eyes shown darkly as his hands tore the demon from away from the woman and slammed it against the nearby wall with enough force to shake the house upon its foundation.
“This house and all in it are protected by the Lord…you have no place here.” Castiel’s voice cut through all other sounds within the house as his eyes focused solely upon the demon he held within his grasp.

Liana felt a powerful presence enter the house and before she could turn to see what it was, she was thrown against a wall and barely managed to stay conscious. Whatever it was gripped her tight and she looked up to see what must have been an angel and fought to keep calm.
“This house and all in it are protected by the Lord…you have no place here.”
"Your Lord, not mine," Liana hissed, attempting to free herself from the angel's grasp and failing miserably. She glanced around and saw the little girl, Eve, had freed herself from the table and was walking slowly towards the commotion, a confused, frightened look on her face. She returned her attention to the angel and attempting to avoid death. "You know, not many angels really give a damn about humans, from what I've heard," she said, stalling for time with the first thing that popped into her head. "Why do you care so much?"

Castiel's eyes never left the demon which he held within his grasp; the demon who had taken it upon itself to come into this house and bring hell upon the innocent family; a family who had already given up more then enough in the name of this war and Castiel would allow no more to be taken from them.
"My Father is the only Lord."
Castiel's answer was complete and left no room for question as far as he was concerned. The only "lord" the demon could be tied to was his own fallen brother Lucifer and that was no lord at all there had been a reason why he had been cast down into the pit by their Father so many years ago. Castiel's grip tightened upon the demon as it struggeled to free itself.
Movement in the small space caugth Castiel's attention for a moment and his sapphire eyes pulled aware from the demon and locked upon the little girl in the hallway. Deep within the vessel Castiel was using as his human shell he felt a pull towards the child and Castiel did all he could do to bury the emotion his vessel the soul of Devon Collins felt for the little girl. There was no time for that now not till his Father's work had been done. Forcing his eyes to break from the small girls confused face Castiel's eyes burned back into the eyes of the demon.
"You know nothing of myself or my brothers and sisters. My charges are under my own protection act against them and you envoke the wrath of angels."
Castiel used his own mental force into further holding the demon against the wall the plaster cracking against the pressure.
"What is it you want with this family? What is it you are after?" Castiel demanded not knowing why the Collins had been pin pointed at all they had no ties to this war and Castiel's use of Devon Collins vessel was knowledge nobody but his father and those on his garrison knew of. Uriel's fall had compromised some of the garrison but Castiel had assumed his charges had been safe; it was only now he had feared he had been wrong.

Liana rolled her eyes at the angel, claiming his father was the only lord, and laughed. "That's what you think."
"You know nothing of myself or my brothers and sisters. My charges are under my own protection act against them and you envoke the wrath of angels."
"I know more than you think," she said, before being forced further into the wall, the angel's power all but crushing her and making her gasp for breath.
"What is it you want with this family? What is it you are after?"
"Me?" Liana managed to gasp. "I don't want anything, it's her you need to worry about." Her eye flicked to behind the angel with a look of relief on her face.

The new body was weak and easy to insert herself into and Lilith watched while the angel Castiel occupied himself with Liana. She had done well, but it was surprising to see her still alive. She pushed herself out from the table, Liana's powers now cancelled by both her own and the angel's, and moved slowly towards them. She did her best to act as if she were still the innocent Eve, if Castiel were to pay too much attention, her disguise would be useless. Liana and Castiel looked at her, and she gave them her best frightened look until they turned away. She looked down at her hand and watched as the dagger materialised. It fascinated her, it's power, but she didn't question it, that was not her place.
"What is it you want with this family? What is it you are after?" "Me? I don't want anything, it's her you need to worry about."
By this point, Lilith was only inches away from the angel and the demon. She raised her arm and plunged the dagger into Castiel's back, watching with satisfaction as all his angelic grace was absorbed into the knife.
"Thank you, Castiel," she said sweetly, her eyes rolling back to reveal white as she spoke. "My Lord appreciates your... cooperation."

“Me? I don't want any thing, it's her you need to worry about.”
Castiel’s face clouded with confusion as the demons words reached him. She must have wanted something otherwise she would not have come to the house, would not have attacked the Collins a family who…
“…it's her you need to worry about.”
In the moment Castiel placed the demons words into place the other movements of the demon…Lilith’s plan had fallen into place and he knew he was far too late.
A strangled cry forced its way from Castiel’s lips as pain as he had never experienced exploded from his back and burned through to his very core. The world around him seemed to scream in a blinding white flash of pain as he felt a force push it way through the veins of his vessel seemingly searing the body from the inside out and causing him to shake with the intensity of pain.
The idea of pain itself was something which was foreign to Castiel since as an angel he had never experienced it first hand. He had seen it though but he had never felt it but the encompassing sensation he felt now he very well knew could not be anything other than agony.
Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth as his hand grabbed desperately on to the demon in front of him; she served as the only thing holding him up at the moment as his breathing became more frantic and labored by the moment. It was no longer the feeling of the pain which caused fear to grip Castiel it was the sense of silence…the feeling of being utterly alone and cut off from everything and anything he had ever known. For the first time in his existence Castiel could not feel or hear his brothers and sisters, he could not sense his Father and he felt entirely alone and it was a pain far worse than the physical anguish Lilith could put him through.
“My Lord appreciates your... cooperation."
The words of the child…the demon caused further panic to rise within the angel as the world around him titled and spun around him as he struggled to keep his balance but soon failed crashing to the ground at the demons feet tearing the dagger from his back as he crumpled. Fresh torrents of crimson blood still flowing from the jagged wound within his back as his crystal blue eyes struggled to focus upon the two demons. The skin of his vessel was pale and chilled and his lips parted in an attempt to speak but Castiel soon found that the strength needed to do so escaped him.

Lilith pulled the knife out of Castiel's back and pushed him to the ground, allowing Liana to get to her feet. She wiped the blood off the dagger onto the dress her new host was wearing and examined the blue-ish light coming from the dagger. She materialized a small, crystal vial into her free hand and, careful not to touch the blade, lightly tapped the tip of the dagger on the edge of the vial three times. The blue-ish light came out of the dagger and filled the vial, the grace swirling and shining brightly. Lilith put a stopper on the vial and closed her fist over it. When she had opened her fist the vial was gone, the dagger too was gone from her other hand.
"Leave him there," Lilith said to Liana, glancing down at Castiel who was doing remarkably well surviving considering the gaping wound in his back. "We're close now, but we still have work to do. Besides, being human will hurt him enough." And with that she was gone from the house, still occupying Eve's body.

Liana watched smugly as Lilith plunged her dagger into Castiel's back and felt his power weaken until he was clutching onto her not to keep her still but to keep himself from falling. She got to her feet when Lilith pushed Castiel over and after watching her place the angel's power into a small vial, made to finish Castiel off.
"Leave him there,"
Liana froze and turned to Lilith, about to argue but changed her mind when she remembered who she was talking to.
"We're close now, but we still have work to do. Besides, being human will hurt him enough."
Liana remembered the other seals and sighed. She hadn't thought there'd be so much work involved in releasing Lucifer. She looked down at Castiel one more time then, realizing Lilith had left, escaped the house also, leaving Castiel to suffer on the floor alone.

Castiel’s flesh felt as though it was burning as Lilith pulled the dagger from his back further enhancing the utter feeling of emptiness which ran through Castiel and left his vessel quaking. Castiel’s vision swam as he attempted to focus on the blue light which shown from the vial in Lilith’s hand; the simple blue light represented everything Castiel was and had ever been and he felt himself pulled to it but in the very next instance it was completely gone and Castiel could not help the crest fallen look which crossed his face as the entire situation became more and more bleak as the moment passed on.
“Besides, being human will hurt him enough…”
Castiel wanted to protest, he wanted to fight in an attempt to take back what had been torn from him but Lilith was correct in her statement the agony he felt was due to the very real fact that his grace had been torn from him the same thing which occurred when an angel fell. Though this was different his grace had been forced from him yet he could feel the agony of his vessel and the pull of the other soul which lay trapped within the body with him and Castiel knew that they would both die if they did not seek out help.
Castiel struggled to stop Lilith from leaving; the body of his vessels daughter possessed by the treacherous demon but he never stood a chance ins topping her and only succeeded in collapsing onto the floor blood pooling around him as his eyes struggled to remain focused as he stared up at the ceiling his breath hitching in his throat painfully.
Castiel’s eyes locked with the other demon’s eyes for a moment before she too was gone from the house and the waves of despair seemed to pour over him tenfold as he desperately tried to sort what could be done now. Coherent thoughts were of little use though as the screaming pain within him and emotional anguish seemed to beat him down with every turn. Castiel could feel the slightest echo of power his grace had left behind within the vessel and he knew that if he drew upon it it would be gone but if he did not he would surely die.
Closing his eyes and grasping desperately to focus through the pain Castiel flickered out of the Vermont house.

Zachariah couldn't control the look of horror that flashed across his face when he entered the Collins house. There had clearly been a fight here, and recently. Walking across the room, Zachariah stood in front of the panicking Mrs Collins. Do not be afraid child. Unsurprisingly, his sudden appearance did little to calm the woman, she kept screaming about her husband and daughter.
"Sleep, every thing will be alright." Zachariah toughed his fingers to hear forehead, and caught her before she hit the ground. After he set the woman on the coach, the angel grabbed the phone and dialed 911. The human doctors would take care of this woman, his brother was in much greater trouble.
