"Anything in particular you look for? Art, furniture, decorations? You wouldn't happen to be into jewelry sales would you? I'm looking for a new rosary and I'd like something special", truth was something that rarely came out of Jon's mouth but he had been looking for a new rosary to get blessed particularly one made with iron and silver. He figured an antique one was his best bet.
"Born in Hungary and raised in London. I can forgive you for the french bit though parce que vos yeux sont aussi profonds que l’océan et aussi l’élément chauffant que les gemmes les plus précieuses."
"Beg pardon but what do you mean by uniqueness, I've heard New York is a strange place but surely that's the same for every city."
He noticed Fengyu stand up from the corner of his eye, she was a bit on the small side which would emphasize her need to carry a weapon.
Turning to Fengyu he leaned forward a bit and in his best effort said, "I hope that your stay here is comfortable. New York is quite a place to visit if you have the time. What type of business is it that you do any way?"

Alexis didn't deal in religious artifacts or styles of any type. She'd tried, but just couldn't bring herself to overcome the nausea that came from looking at the items or the burns that came from touching them.
"Why don't you join me on one of my ventures?" Alexis suggested. "I've never had much luck with them myself, but perhaps with your help we'll do better."
The girl stated she was from Tawain, and on business. Alexis had missed that part of the world entirely. But she was always up for new options if she wore out her welcome in New York.
"Well, I've never been there. How is it? And what sort of business do you do?"
Alexis was momentarily started when Brunner spoke another language. But when she heard his French, she was further impressed.
All right, our third meeting. And that's a personal best.
"Well, Mr. Brunner, you have quite a way with words." Alexis smiled slowly. "My eyes and I thank you. And as for uniqueness, how many other cities do you know that broadcast having a Naked Cowboy?"

"Actually, I am working a missing persons case."
It was true enough, Fengyu was in the country looking for her missing brother Unfortunately, none of her leads had panned out.

"If it means more time with such a lovely woman, I may have to take you up on that", Jon couldn't place it but Alexis seemed different then most women he knew. Then again she had been around the world a bit so it was to be expected.
He turned towards Fengyu when she mentioned a missing person's case. She didn't seem to be the law enforcement type which meant she was here on her own trying to find someone.
"Who is it that you're looking for? To come all the way to America, they must be important."
He turned back to see Alexis smiling, she could be rather helpful if she knew a lot about artifacts and the like. It would be less time searching for things on the internet.
"Words mean little, it's our actions that mean everything", he allowed a small grin on his face when he emphasized actions.
"A naked cowboy is a new one for me, but if it makes a difference I once stayed in a less than reputable town in Russia that had a weather girl that would strip as she gave the broadcast. Still naked cowboy is probably one of the stranger things and New York is pretty well known for it's urban legends like alligators in the sewers and some even say that there are monsters around here. I've seen advertisements for so called vampire night clubs, I guess some people will do anything to make money."

Brunner was getting better and better, Alexis certainly couldn't deny that. She smiled, tossing her long hair over her shoulders.
"That sounds like a date." She nodded before turning to the girl.
A missing persons case? Seriously? Alexis raised an eyebrow. The girl was very tiny to be going into such a line of work. Humans took huge changes with their lives nowadays. That was probably why the news frequently broadcasted tales of their demise. Alexis couldn't deny that they had a tendancy to run into her arms.
"Do you work for an international agency?" She questioned. If that was the case, Alexis was going to back off the girl immediately. The last thing she wanted was an international spy going missing with her business card amongest her possessions. Those instances just got too messy, and Alexis didn't like anything sloppy.
"Actions." Alexis let the word roll off her tongue. "Actions say a lot about a person, Mr. Brunner. I'd be intrigued to see yours."
The man intrigued her at a higher level than usual. She usually didn't see humans as anything but a meal, but he could be worth some investigating.
"Alligators in the sewer? That's not the only thing down there. Are you aware that for years, groups of homeless people have been living in the abandoned subway tunnels? The Mole People they've been known as. Now before you tell me I'm crazy, reporters have done stories, books have been written. The Mole People: Life in the Tunnels Beanth New York City by Jennifer Toth? Fabulous read, highly worth checking out."

Under normal circumstances, Fengyu would have identified herself as an agent of the Taiwan government. Unfortunately, her forged badge identified her as Ming Li, and she had already given the two her real name. Her uncle had been adamant that she not reveal her true intention to potential enemies. So Fengyu improvised.
"No, I work for private agency, my clients are very concerned for their son's welfare."

"Then I guess it is, perhaps we could grab some dinner and discuss your business further. I know a lovely Italian restaurant with a fantastic assortment of wine. Unless you'd rather try something else of course", Jon couldn't deny that this woman was entrancing but there was something different he couldn't put his finger on.
Jon turned his head to hear what Fengyu wuld say when Alexis asked her if she worked internationally. When she mentioned a private investigation who ever had sent her must have had a good deal of influence and it explained why she was also carrying. Fengyu would require a bit of a background search, he'd be interested to see what he could find.
"Is everything all right with the boy? I can't imagine parents sending someone here just to babysit him. Is he in some kind of trouble?"
He turned back to Alexis, "believe me my dear, it would be my pleasure to show them to you."
"I think I'll have to check it out because that sounds slightly ludicrous. I couldn't imagine a single person let alone groups living down there. I suppose next you wish to tell me there are things that really do go bump in the night?"

Wine. That was one of the few human foods Alexis had taught herself to choke down in an effort to look normal. That had taken some work. But if humans could eat dirt and live to tell about it, surely a vampire could eat small portions of their food. Wine probably would have been something she would have enjoyed in her human life, but now it had no taste and the same effect as chewing on one of the park benches.
"The wine sounds lovely, the food on the other hand...well, I'm a bit leary of eating out. I've got a number of food allergies and I'm quite particular about what I eat unless I know precisely how it was prepared. So we can meet for wine....or I could always cook for you."
Alexis turned to look at Fengyu. An international private agency? Potentially worse. She was going to have to pay an extreme amount of attention to this one. The girl could easily fall into one of those "too much trouble" categories. And there were other fish in the sea.
"If you're being hired by private clients, you must be quite good at your job." She complimented the girl before hearing Brunner's comment.
"I'm sure you would, Mr. Brunner, and in that case it's an offer I'll hold you to. As for the book, I have a copy if you'd be interested in borrowing? And many things go bump in the night. It's all a matter of if you find it to be a good bump....or a bad one."

"Is everything all right with the boy? I can't imagine parents sending someone here just to babysit him. Is he in some kind of trouble?"
Fengyu was irritated by Jon's question, hadn't she said that it was a missing person's case?
"Is missing not considered trouble in this part of the world?" It was a rude thing to say, and her sharp tone made it even more so, but the stress of not knowing where Mujing was, or if he was even alive, was getting to her.

"I haven't had a home cooked meal in a very long time, so I may have to go with that. Of course we could just skip dinner entirely and go straight to dessert", he gave her a sly grin. He was becoming rather enamored with Alexis and he wasn't sure how good that was considering his line of work.
"Well missing could mean a number of things. Just because something's missing doesn't mean it's lost. Perhaps the boy stopped communicating with his family or something. There are a number of possibilities", Jon began to choose his words carefully with Fengyu, she seemed rather offended. Her case was probably more personal than she let on.
He turned back to Alexis when she offered to lend him the book, it seemed an interesting read but he was more interested in the woman offering it.
"Maybe I'll do that rather then buy a copy. Just for the record, I prefer the good bumps that happen at night."

Alexis raised an eyebrow at Jon. Well, he'd certainly secured his life-unless of course he threatened hers. Jon Brunner was certainly the most interesting human she'd met in some time.
"Dessert is usually the best part of any meal, Mr. Brunner. At least it's my favorite." She told him, giving him a slow, sultry smile.
Alexis was distracted momentarily by Fengyu's words. The girl was quite into her case. She admired a girl so passionate about her work.
"Mr. Brunner's right, Ms. Sen. Missing may mean "not wanting to be found." How old is the boy? That can make a huge difference between a missing person and an adult who simply does not want to see his family."
She really couldn't decide which of the two she was most fascinated in.
"Once you read the book, we'd have to spend a good deal of time discussing it, Mr. Brunner. It might make you want to read more of my books. I'd hate to bore you, dear."

Fengyu berated her self internally for loosing her cool, lashing out at strangers wasn't going to get her brother back.
"He is a twenty-three year old college student with good grades and close ties to his family. He disappeared during the middle of semester. There is no. . .," the Taiwanese woman paused, trying to find the correct phrase in her head, "history of troubles with the authorities or otherwise."

"If the boy disappeared halfway through his semester then that sounds like a missing person, I hate to say it but perhaps he fell into drugs at school, that would be on explanation. Maybe talk to his room mates at school or people that knew him. Then again it could be a lot of things", Jon could see how working a case like this would stress her out, he could sympathize with working hard cases. That wendigo a few weeks ago was a real pain.
He turned back to Alexis when she mentioned they'd have to discuss the book.
"I'm sure but my conversations can take all night sometimes and have been known to last entire weekends, maybe longer. I wouldn't want to be to much of a hassle. Then again, I'd love to see your books and maybe anything else you'd think I'd be interested in."

Alexis raised an eyebrow at the girl. She could be useful on some aspects, but as far as Alexis's prefered aspects, she was too close to this case.
"Do you have help in finding this boy?" She asked. Before trying anything, Alexis wanted to know how might come looking for the girl.
Alexis ran her tongue over her lower lips in thought at Brunner's words. He made he want to meet humans when she was in a good mood more often-it made her almost like them.
"The longer the better, Mr. Brunner. I don't tire easily. And I have a number of things I'd love to show you that I'm sure you'll find quite enticing. You'll find I'm well versed on a number of subjects in addition to books. I've been told I'm quite good with them."

Fengyu shook her head at the thought of Mujing getting into drugs, he was too interested in becoming the stronger hunter of the siblings to consider it.
" Talked with his classmates, they had a hard time convincing him to go to bars, he never touched drugs. I have gone to all of my contacts in the area, they turned up nothing. Now I am on my own."
The latter part of the statement was unfortunately true.
