Sam’s entire mind felt as though it was just a giant cloud of confusion. There were flickering thoughts of so many different things and feelings and terrors that he couldn’t focus on one long enough to actually grab a hold of it. The stale smell of medicine and disinfection alerted him that he was in a hospital…still in a hospital if that memory was correct.
He forced his eyes open and blinked a few times owlishly to allow the room around him to come into focus. He was secured to a bed though it was more like a table in the center of the room which after allowing his eyes to search the room he quickly noticed that it had to be some sort of exam or testing room; either that or he had been abducted by aliens. He was willing to guess it was his first thought. He went to move slightly his body aching only dully as he could only begin to fathom the immense amount of pain medication he had filtering through his system.
He didn’t get very much movement though as his arms were held in place against the table the low beeping noise alerting anyone who was around that he was alive for the moment. He pulled again weakly against the offending restraint which was holding him in place.

Doctor Robert Chase had been running a few tests on the young man that had been brought up to have some tests run on him to see if they couldn’t figure out what had caused the 25 year old boy to have a seizure as well as God knew what else. According to the notes from the file the nurse had brought up to him he had also been ranting and raving about demons and what not.
He had run a series of tests on the boy though and everything came back fine or as normal as someone who was beaten to an inch of their life could possibly look. The file stated the guy was a US Marshal though he looked extremely young for the job but then again it really wasn’t Chase’s job to pass judgment it was his job to figure out what was wrong with him not anything else.
He looked up from his notes as he heard the young man begin to come out of the sedatives they had given him. It was a bit early for him to be awake but he supposed after being in a coma for a week he had gotten enough time with his subconscious.
“Sam I need you to stay calm; don’t need you injuring yourself any worse then you already are ok?” Chase said his voice calm as he finished up his notes and made his way over to his patient and released his arms from the restraints.
“You have to stay still or they go back on,” he stated plainly grabbing a needle and syringe from the medical table and began filling it up with a clear liquid.

Sam immediately stilled; his eyes flickering over to the doctor who stood not to far off from him. He hadn’t seen this doctor before but then again he couldn’t be sure who he had and hadn’t seen so he just opted to keep his mouth shut.
He nodded as the doctor removed the restraints and informed him that should he struggle or anything else they would have to go back on and he really preferred they didn’t. His mind was still cloudy and unfocused yet he could feel anxiety creeping through him and he hated that feeling. The remains of the dream he had had the dream that demon had forced him to have kept screaming from the back of his mind yet he continued to bury it refusing to give into the terror it wanted to cause him.
He wasn’t about to lose his control what little he was mustering and finding himself in a padded room somewhere in the hospital. His eyes went wide though as he saw the doctor begin to fill a syringe with medication. He was done with being put back to sleep and being forced to deal with the demons and past events which lurked in his mind. That was more painful then the agony his body was in at the moment.
“Please don’t…I wont move or anything I just don’t want I don’t want to be put under again,” he whispered trying to stop himself from jerking out of the bed and away from the doctor completely.

Chase nodded lightly as the young man agreed to the terms that if he stayed still he could remain un-restrained. But his attention snapped back to Sam when the young man seemed to be upset by the syringe and then he realized why.
“It’s not a sedative or anything like that Sam you have my word. It is just something for the pain to help clear your head and maybe get you thinking clearly and not feeling entirely like you were beaten to a pulp. It’ll be fine,” Chase explained calmly as he slipped the needle into Sam’s arm and pushed the medication into his veins.
They would need to keep a close eye on him to monitor for any more fits or any irregularities in his healing process but as far as Chase could tell Sam would be fine in time.
“All your tests came back fine Sam there is nothing off that we can tell. Of course you’re due to stay here for a good long while yet as you sustained a lot of damage to your body and vital organs. You’ve got a long road ahead of you but you will make a full recovery so no need to worry about any of that,” Chase explained with a small nod.
“The nurse will be in a few moments to take you back to your room and I will be in later to check on you,” he explained before gathering up the files and notes he had made and made his way from the examination room

Sam’s eyes still lay locked on the needle the doctor held in his hand even after the man had explained it wasn’t designed to knock him else or anything else. He had to stay awake he had wasted far too much time already even if his body had all but demanded it. He closed his eyes for a moment as he felt the tip of the needle enter his arm and plunge the medicine into his veins.
He opened them once more as the doctor explained that he would be good as new.
“Until the hell hounds rip me apart…” Sam thought to himself knowing what was waiting for him in the not so distant future.
“Thank you,” Sam whispered as the doctor made his way out of the examination room leaving Sam alone with his thoughts.
He had no idea what he was supposed to do now. His body screamed in pain at every movement but he knew he couldn’t stay in the hospital he knew as soon as he could he would need to leave even if it was without a word to a soul. As far as the demon had showed him they had all been just fine without him anyways.
“Demons Lie…”
He knew they did but he had yet to find anything that could prove the demon wrong. He had woken up alone and as the doctor had explained it everyone had been busy with other things. He would deal with his problems on his own then if he needed to. He just had to figure out how exactly he was meant to do that.

The nurse walked into the examination room once Dr. Chase had given her the go ahead that she could take Sam back down to his room. She knew his family were most likely still down there but it shouldn’t be a problem till the doctor needed to go back and check on him. The whole case regarding him or what she had been able to pick up from several different people sounded all very hectic but it wasn’t her job to pass judgment.
She noticed that the patient had fallen asleep and that was always a good sign especially since according the charts it wasn’t do to medication just his own exhaustion and body needing rest. With the help of another orderly they took Sam back down towards his room.
