Rydel impatiently drummed his fingers against the counter of the diner he was currently in. It was 5:30 in the morning, but Rydel was wide awake. He had a lot of ground to cover before dark and he was anxious to get started. He had his day already planned out for him. First thing to do was to get breakfast and spent an hour tops in the diner. Next was to spend until noon making some special order talismans and then after he had delivered them, he would head downtown and resume searching for his biological mother again.
Rydel sighed and pulled his phone out of his pocket and turned it on to check his messages.'Twenty-seven missed calls, Jesus Christ who the hell was callin' me?' Rydel thought.
He pulled up his missed calls and saw that all of them, save one, were from his mother. Worry filling him, he called his mother. When he got the answering machine his worry only intensified and he pulled his laptop out of his bag. As soon as it was powered up he checked his email to see if his mother had sent him anything. The new message icon popped up and he quickly scanned the e-mail.

Message: Since you don't seem to be answering your phone, I've decided to tell you this via email. Using my connections at the hospital your bio. mother left you at I've been able to get a picture of her. Hope it helps.
Below the message was a clear picture of his mother twenty three years ago. She looked tired, but she was still beautiful and she didn't look older than seventeen. Rydel could feel his eyes watering and he rubbed them hard.
"Is everything okay ?" He looked up and saw the waitress who had just arrived with his food.
"Yeah, everything's fine." Rydel said. She set the food down on the table and smiled at him before walking away.
