Catherine let herself into the master bedroom and closed the door behind her, surprisingly comforted by the click of the door latch. Looking around, she felt the shudder of surprise that she had actually come home tonight. Dimitrie's appearance had completely and totally rattled her and she was still calming down.
Her plan was to change clothes, take a shower, and go to bed. Those were all reasonable, practical things. She could take off her shoes, put her clothes in the hamper and take a shower. Then she could clean up the shower from the bathroom and get into bed. All things that would require her to think. Not hard, but think nonetheless.
But her plan ended abruptly as she sat down on the edge of the bed, her head slipping down into her hands and her eyes closing. Exhaustion was running through her, and fear, and horror for what might lie in tomorrow night. Should they leave? If he'd found her once, he could find her again. Cat had always hated such matters as running, but now it seemed as though it might be necessary again.
Rubbing her temples, Cat simply sat. There was no point in doing anything else. She might as well just be until she felt motivated to concentrate on the tasks at hand. But those could wait.

Stan was very impressed with his own self control over the course of the evening. He managed to stay entirely calm while the nights events were explained to him. He managed to remain totally calm right up until the point where Catherine excused herself to go upstairs, and Stan saw her brother politely out of the house.
And then he lost it.
How dare that monster come back into their lives? How dare he attack Catherine for... for what? For deserting him? After the way she had been treated? Stan would expect any vampire to flee after that. Progeny were not slaves, they were family and should be treated as such.
But as much as Stan was furious with Catherine's maker, he was equally frustrated with himself. Catherine was a big girl, and an excellent vampire, but he still felt he should have been with her tonight to protect her. He hated to think what state she might be in if Templeton hadn't found her.
With a low growl, Stan lashed out and punched the nearest wall as hard as he could. He stood for a long moment, looking between the very large hole in the wall he had created, and his scraped and bleeding knuckles. He sighed. Of course his feelings on the subject didn't matter at all. Catherine was the one who had been attacked. Not him. Sighing again, Stan made his way upstairs.
He found Catherine sitting on their bed, head in her hands. In a blink he was sitting beside her, one arm around her shoulders, the other stroking her hair comfortingly.
"It'll be alright, my love."

Cat heard a sound. It was a loud sound, a crash like something being broken but since it didn't sound like the shattering of glass she assumed nothing she valued was broken so she didn't move.
Or it could mean Dimitrie was back in the house. That he'd somehow followed her home and was now-.
She was getting out of control. Her thoughts were racing and she knew it. The rational part of her brain knew it, but the part of her that wanted to panic was jumping.
"It'll be alright, my love.
In her mental state, Catherine had let her defenses down and had barely noticed Stan entering the room. Now she leaned against him and rested her head firmly on his chest. He was here, and he was solid, and he was safe. She took the opportunity of all of this things and wrapped one arm around his chest, clinging.
"I thought I wasn't coming home tonight." She murmured. "I thought I'd never see you again. I was sure..."
She'd been sure Dimitrie would order her to come with him, but he hadn't, this time. But there was always next time. And she suspected there would be a next time.
