"Hey buddy. How's it going?"
"Tis going," Kaleb responded with a smile as Bianca joined them out in the night air.
This was his favorite part! Kaleb loved people; he love humans and how they all seemingly connected with each other and sought each other out and whether they realized it or not how they all worked together. He figured if he was ever forced to pick a side int eh war between heaven and hell he would side with the world; but until that time it was not his fight to take part in.
"My apologies, I've had a lot on my mind."
"No worries," Kaleb replied clapping the other man on the should. It was lucky for him that the other hunter seemed worried enough about something else entirely to notice Kaleb's slip up so all was well with the world.
"We were actually just heading off to do some research on a hunt. Are you interested in coming along? We could use some help."
"Count me in Binks," Kaleb said with an excited smile.
This would be his second favorite part; hutning with others was always preferred as far as Kaleb was cocnerned. It lent itself to that whole being with others deal he enjoyed so much and he also got to see how the others worked and he did enjoy Bianca's company and her friend Brunner seemed like a good man as well which was an extra added bonus.
"What are we huntin?" Kaleb asked fishing his keys back out of his pocket.

"My apologies, I've had a lot on my mind."
This case was really wearing on Jon. Bianca wondered what had brought it on. She tried to search through her mind to remember what it was that had brought Jon into hunting, but if he had told her, she couldn't remember. Come to think of it, she didn't know what they were hunting right now.
"Could we now Ms. Pagliaro? If you think so then lets get going. You can lead the way."
"Yeah, why not? You've obviously been putting in a lot of hours on it, so two extra sets of eyes will be a good thing."
That and Bianca didn't want to add in the fact that Jon was probably going to pass out on his feet at some point. She would need someone else to help her with the case once he was asleep. She was glad that Jon hadn't shown too much objection to Kaleb joining them. Kaleb was good company and she hadn't seen or hunted with him in awhile.
"Count me in Binks,"
"Awesome. Let's go pick up a motel room. And for the record, I don't know what we're hunting. What are we after Jon? Or do you want to wait till we're indoors?"
She let her keys dangle from her fingers and looked at Kaleb.
"Have you got your own wheels, or do you need a ride?"

Jon looked around at the random people walking in and out of the diner. He walked up to Bianca and Kaleb, looking around one last time to make sure they weren't overheard.
"There are werewolf attacks up north in Portland, but it's a pack. I don't know how they found each other but they did. And they're attacking hospitals, nursing homes and anywhere the very young and very old can be found. Now let's go set up somewhere and I'll show you the reports I found online."
He turned around and got into his truck, listening as the engine smoothly turned over. He waited for the others to get moving so he could follow them which would be a lot easier than trying to lead the way only to end up wrapped around a telephone pole.

"Have you got your own wheels, or do you need a ride?"
Kaleb smiled proudly in response to Bianca's question. He had been awfully pleased when the old owner of the truck had needed a demon exorcism and wanted to pay him but had no money to spare...but he did have the truck which was more then enough for Kaleb. Especially considering it was something he could entirely claim was his own; and truthfully it made traveling a lot more...human.
"Got my own these days," he explained nodding towards where the blue pick-up track sat under a light.

Kaleb listened carefully as Jon explained what it was they would be going against. He wasn't really Team Werewolf as the humans were saying these days; they tended to be bloody and a bit of a pain in the ass since once they were transformed they could clealry sense what he was which never entirely made them happy...not that werewolves were happy sappy to start with. "Sounds like a romantic evening," Kaleb responded with a ghost of a smile.
"Lead the way Binks," Kaleb stated as he followed Jon's lead and pulled himself into his truck so that they could get a move on.

Bianca felt a very mild twinge of fear. She didn't like werewolves. They could be nasty and fought either to kill or to turn. And a pack of them sounded even worse. But if a good plan was in place, they could be taken out. So long as they didn't go into things helter skelter, Bianca decided not to worry.
"Got my own these days,"
Bianca followed Kaleb's head and smiled in response to his new ride.
"Nice. I hope it's a Ford, or else I'm not interested." She gave the other hunter a quick wink and headed towards her Mustang. Throwing her bag onto the passenger seat, she settled inside and turned on the engine before heading it onto the roadway.
Fortunately, motels and diners seemed to be one in the same anymore. So it took her all of five minutes to pull into the parking lot of a particuarly shady looking number that was advertising vacancy. Before she could encounter the guys, she ran in a got a room. The last thing she wanted was the creepy looking guy at the desk seeing her book a room with two men. That would add for some nasty comments that would make her sleep less than she already did.
Coming out of the office armed with the room key, Bianca settled on the Mustang's hood to wait for the boys.

Jon pulled out and began to follow Bianca, concentrating on following her tail lights but the yellow lines on the road grabbed his attention and began to almost hypnotize him. For some reason he thought he was in the truck with Alexis and she was screaming at him.
"I'm sorry, I never wanted to hurt you. I needed to do this, I just..."
Quickly snapping his head up in time to avoid running off the road, he realized he'd fallen asleep at the wheel. He kept himself awake and managed to find Bianca's car already at a motel. He pulled in next to it to find her sitting on the hood of her mustang. He climbed out of the cab of his truck and opened the back door to grab the bag with his laptop and few other items.
"Classy place, I always loved these five star resorts."

"Nice. I hope it's a Ford, or else I'm not interested."
Kaleb's face imitated a lock of shock though he was clearly joking with Bianca.
"I'll have you know Binks that while it may not be a Ford my truck is just as good as any if not better," Kaleb explained with a proud smile as he looked over at the blue 1969 Chevy Page. It was rather sad how attached to the large piece of metal he was; but truth be told it was his first "worldly" posession he had gotten since he decided to leg it alone so the truck could have been short of on fire and he would have claimed it made of gold.
Kaleb pulled himself into the truck and fell in line behind Jon as they made their way over towards the motel Bianca had picked. Kaleb didn't fail to notice the fact that Jon nearly killed himself by driving damn near off the road. Whatever had the man's attention had it fully and left room for not much else.
Pulling his truck up next to Bianca's mustang Kaleb pulled himself and his duffel bag from the truck and slammed the door behind him.
"No rooms at the Ritz then?" Kaleb asked with a smile.
Kaleb focused on Jon for a moment trying to see if he could figure out what was wrong with the man...but anything aside from asking would be cheating.
"What's got your mind Jon? You nearly took yourself out back there," Kaleb asked as innocently as possible.

Bianca sat patiently on the car's hood as she waited for the guys. As she sat on the car, she remembered the last person to sit there was Gavner. That made a frown cross her face.
But before she could get too into that memory, Jon's truck pulled into the parking lot next to her car.
"Classy place, I always loved these five star resorts."
"Yeah, it's hot, isn't it? I wonder where the spa is."
Bianca was ready to ask Jon if all truly was well but before she got the opportunity, Kaleb pulled into the lot.
"No rooms at the Ritz then?"
"Well, there was one room left and it was between me and The Donald who got it. Fortunately the guy at the desk thought I was hot."
Bianca jumped off the hood of the car and set to rounding up her messenger bag and backpack.
"What's got your mind Jon? You nearly took yourself out back there,"
"What happened, Jon? Are you ok?"

"What's got your mind Jon? You nearly took yourself out back there."
"What happened, Jon? Are you ok?"
Jon looked at the two of them, he didn't need them thinking anything was wrong. He just wanted to concentrate on the job. So he did what he'd become so used to doing. He lied.
"I'm fine, cat ran out into the road and I didn't feel like cleaning my truck tonight."
The lie came out easily enough but he always felt guilty lying to people, especially ones he needed to trust.
"I need to go make a phone call, I'll meet you in the room."
He walked around the corner and went to pull his phone from his pocket when it caught on his keys and they both tumbled out. Luckily his keys dropped down just barely avoiding a storm drain, unluckily his phone didn't. He watched as it hit the bottom and cracked in half.
Swearing under his breath, he walked to the manager's office and asked the creepy man behind the desk if he had a phone he could borrow. The man handed him something that looked like it was from the early nineties.
"Alexis? Can you hear me? It's Jon. I don't know if you can hear me, my signal is horrible. My phone got dropped down a storm drain. I had to call from a different number, so I don't know if you'll even get this. I'm up near Portland. I'm sorry for everything, I'll make it up to you soon. I promise, I love you."
It was only at the end of his call that Jon realized the phone had died on him so he didn't even know how much, if any of the call got through. He returned the man's phone and made his way back to the others. Silently wishing she got the call.

"I'm fine, cat ran out into the road and I didn't feel like cleaning my truck tonight."
Kaleb had to bite his tongue in order to stop himself from calling Jon out on the lie. Glancing quickly over at Bianca he was almost certain anyone could tell that Jon was lying. But being that he had only known the man for a hndful of hours he had no room to push...as long as he was more focused when it came time to hunt. In the long run Kaleb would be fine since there was only one thing whihc could kill an archangel but he worried for Bianca. Hunts were much harder if not everyone was on the same page.
"I need to go make a phone call, I'll meet you in the room."
Kaleb watched as the man walked back to the motel office to make his call before turning back to Bianca.
"Is he gonna get us killed Binks?"
The question though pointless for him was still needed; one it was simple human response and secondly Kaleb wanted to make sure Bianca was on her guard as well; if not double.

"I'm fine, cat ran out into the road and I didn't feel like cleaning my truck tonight."
Bianca saw Kaleb's glance out of the corner of her eye. She knew he had been behind Jon, so he easily would have seen more than she had. Something was not flying with this story. Jon had not been the same person she had met a few months ago.
"Yeah, cleaning roadkill off your car sucks." She nodded, glancing towards the Mustang. "I've had that happen way too many times."
"I need to go make a phone call, I'll meet you in the room."
"Yeah, you go do that." Bianca murmured as Jon walked away. She looked at Kaleb with a skeptical look. She hated to drag a friend into a mess with another hunter who was losing his mind.
"Is he gonna get us killed Binks?"
"Dude, I don't know. I swear, the first time I met him, this guy was at the top of his game. He was bitching me out for drinking too much caffeine. Come on, let's go."
Bianca motioned Kaleb to follow her and headed towards the room which was labeled on their key as room 7. Unlocking it, she pushed the door open and stepped inside.
"Ew, yuck."
The room contained two double beds which were had stained yellow comforters. And orange ratty carpet that looked like it was from 1962 and not a year later. Bianca rolled her eyes. She stepped into the room and waited for the guys to join her.

Jon took one last look at the remains of his phone in the drain. He hated replacing phones and setting it to how he liked it. He grabbed the drain and pulled it out of place so he could reach down and grab the remains. Pulling the memory chips out, he tossed the rest in the garbage can.
Making his way back, he heard Bianca's voice in one of the rooms and saw Kaleb walking into the same one. He rubbed the exhaustion from his eyes before going in. Before him was the typical of what he'd come to expect from roadside motel rooms. Pulling his laptop from his bag he pulled open the news reports and coroner reports he'd managed to get from a contact in the FBI. It helped having friends in high places.
"Basically these attacks started a few weeks ago and have been slowly moving northwards. The last attack was a week ago just outside of Portland so I figured that would be a good place to stop next."
He sat on one of the beds listening to it creak loudly underneath him.
"I just want to stretch out for a second if you two don't mind."
He layed back on what felt like the most comfortable place in the world. He could feel his joints pop and ache from nights of sleeping in his truck.
"I'll... I'll jus..."
Before he even realized it, he'd passed out into what was bound to be another restless sleep. His dreams drifting to the woman he'd left behind. He gently whispered her name before sleep completely overtook him.
"Alexis..."

"Dude, I don't know. I swear, the first time I met him, this guy was at the top of his game. He was bitching me out for drinking too much caffeine. Come on, let's go."
Kaleb gave Bianca a speculative look as they made their way to the hotel room. For some reason it didn't seem like Jon Brunner was the sort of person to go from 0 to crazy in a few months; but then again at times life did tend to get to them...it was the downside to them being human.
"Ew, yuck."
"That is a man's dream to hear when walking into a motel room with a woman," Kaleb said with a laugh as he dropped his bag in the corner of the room. The motel in itself was rather anti-climatic...in that it looked like all the other run down motels he had crossed paths with.
Kaleb pulled out his notebook he used on hunts from the front flap of his bag and scribbeled a few notes as Jon explained a few key items. Eyeing the man as he laid back on the bed Kaleb counted the seconds till he was out.
1 Mississippi...2 Mississippi...3 Mississippi...4 Missis....
"Awesome..." Kaleb declared turning from the man as he began to mutter in his sleep and focused his sights on Bianca.
"You hang out with crazy people."

Bianca settled herself in an equally gross looking chair and looked over at her companions. The bed Jon had just settled himself on sounded like it wanted to fall into the floor below him.
"I just want to stretch out for a second if you two don't mind."
"Sure. If you want to-." Bianca realized that her statement was in vein, because the guy was already out cold.
"Alexis..."
"Yeah....ok then. Who do you think that is?" She looked at Kaleb, raising an eyebrow as she dug through her bag for a book of supernatural creatures. She got up and retrieved the laptop Jon had been fussing with before he'd gone unconcious.
"He's got it pretty detailed." She looked over at Kaleb.
"You hang out with crazy people."
"Yeah, I guess it wouldn't be the first time." Bianca shrugged. She was surprised Jon had gone down hill so quickly. "Come on, let's sort this out and head out for the hunt. He can do his thing here without us."

A cool breeze from the sea ran through the air as Jon sat on a cliff of Valcenia Island. He'd always loved this spot as a kid, he'd been sad that he may never see it again after he left. Right now though he wasn't Jon Brunner the hunter, he was just Jon.
"Wish I had a guitar to play a little something."
Jon knew he was in a dream, but he wasn't about to let it end. Just like that a a guitar hooked up to an amp was right next to him. It was already tuned and had power which was very convenient. Not even knowing how to play Jon expertly played the opening to Welcome to the Jungle.
That was when the sky darkened, he looked down and the guitar was gone too.
So much for a happy dream.
Suddenly he was back in that horrible basement, listening as his family was devoured. His gun just inches out the door, if only he could move the cabinet and get to it he could save everyone. Like every other nightmare he was forced to sit and listen as the scene played over and over again.
"Why me Lord?"
He covered his head with his arms and sat there waiting for the horror to end as silent tears formed in his eyes.
