Jon groaned as his eyes opened, good sign that he was still alive. He looked around and saw he was still in Alexis's room but she wasn't.
Crap, now what do I do, have to get out of here and get to my truck
Jon got up and gathered up his clothes, he was pissed at Alexis but he wasn't angry. It was a strange way to feel but he'd worry about that later.
Let's see, no weapons, locked in a possible serial killer's home and my truck is outside. Let's see how it could get worse.
Jon quietly opened up the bedroom door and moved silently into the hall.

After she'd returned inside, Alexis had slept from precisely 6:00-6:15. Then she'd decided she was awake and might as well accomplish something. So she got up, showered, changed into a casual black dress, found a pair of black knee high boots she thought she'd lost three months ago and pulled out her computer to balance her accounts.
She was going to have to feed tonight. She could feel the slight desire rising, but it was going to be far worse later. The fact that she still had a living human in the apartment wasn't helping.
Alexis heard Jon moving before he was out of the room. She closed the computer, got up from sofa and headed down the hallway. This was going to be interesting.
"You're awake." She said as the bedroom door opened. "How do you feel? I am so sorry about last."

Jon was slightly shocked she'd found out he was up so quickly but didn't let anything show. He watched her to see what she was going to do, but when it appeared she wasn't about to attack he relaxed slightly.
"How about you answer my questions before I answer any of yours. First who are you, what are you, and why in the bloody hell did you put something in my drink? I don't want to hear sorry unless you have a very good reason for doing what you did", He wasn't angry but he was doing what he could to appear so, the drug had left his muscles weakened and he knew that he wouldn't be able to put up as good a fight as before.

Alexis shrugged and held her hands out to show they were empty.
"Jon, you know who I am, you know what I am, we've covered that. As for the drink, that was an accident. Come here."
She beckoned him to follow her. Going to the kitchen, she opened the drawer and dug up bottle.
"Unisom. Liquid form." She told him, holding up the bottle. "I'm a hopeless insomniac. I sleep...maybe fifteen minutes every night. Last night I put some into my wine glass. But you drank the wrong glass. I didn't figure it out until you passed out. If you weren't awake soon, I was calling paramedics. Who knows what type of reaction you could have had."
It was a decent lie, she had to give herself that.

Jon took the bottle in his hand and looked it over, one half accepted it but another half yelled for him to hit her and run. He decided that he'd trust her and put the bottle down on the counter.
"Sorry about that I guess, I'm just sorry we only got one go around", Jon rubbed his eyes as the drug wore off.
"Anything happen last night? I have some extra clothes in my truck that I should change into, if you don't mind me using your shower that is. Maybe we can grab some breakfast, a coffee or you can join me in the shower and we can worry about eating later."

Alexis smiled, a surprising amount of relief settling across her face. He actually did buy that. But it was a reasonable excuse. She gave herself credit for that one.
"I know, it's wild. But it's what took me forever coming to bed last night. I figured I might want to take my chances without it, but they say you're supposed to take it regularly or something."
Alexis ran a hand through her hair. She tired and now that she was faintly hungry, he was in more danger than he knew.
"There are other nights." She leaned over to kiss him gently. "And no, nothing happened. Other than I think I might have slept for a solid half hour."
Another shower would mean having to redo her hair and her makeup. And she wasn't sure she had the strength to keep away from his blood this morning.
"Go ahead. I need to make a couple of phone calls anyway. Get cleaned up and then we'll talk."

"Alright, I'll be back in a few", Jon kissed her on the cheek and gave her a playful pinch. He walked out of the apartment and out of the store to where he had parked his truck. He saw his truck was open in the back.
DAMNIT! BLOODY F*#%ING DEMONS!
He ran the last few steps and saw the damage. Holy water was spilled everywhere, his collection of dead man's blood was gone, he was missing a machete. It didn't look to bad but it would take time to replenish what was gone. He knew that it wasn't a normal person, who ever it was knew exactly what it was to destroy. He opened up the secret panels to see if anything was gone. His holy wood was still there, his guns were ok and the rest of his blades were fine. He had an emergency set of dead man's blood and holy water in the glove compartment but he didn't want to have to use that. He grabbed a silver blade and a stake of palo santo. Now he was really mad, it just so happened that the night he got drugged that his truck was vandalized.
He grabbed a .357 magnum revolver and loaded it with half silver bullets and half iron bullets. He was running low but he wanted to be better safe than sorry. He went back up to Alexis's apartment, he'd shower at his hotel later.
"Alexis, can you tell me what this knife is worth? It's silver and don't worry about a cleaning cloth, just take it", he held out the knife to see what she'd do. He felt his heart ache at the thought of her betraying him.

Alexis hit delete on one of her voice messages and tossed her cell phone onto the kitchen counter. Now she ligitmately did have business to attend to. She gotten a few good tip offs about potential sales and she needed to check them out.
Glancing outside, she saw that the sun was out too much for her liking. She pulled a black and white raincoat out of the closet and a pair of small black gloves. She pulled the gloves on and glanced in the mirror to toss her hair out.
Jon's return almost startled her. She was so unused to people walking in.
"What?" She pushed a piece of hair out of her eyes. Now he wanted her to look at a silver knife? What the living hell? Alexis gave him a dark look, but with the gloves she wasn't worried.
"Yeah, I guess. I'm running out of time. Give it to me." She took the knife from his hand and studied it. She could feel heat seeping through the fabric covering her hand, but she ignored.

He was getting upset about this now, she seemed to successfully evade anything he tested her with.
"Alexis, please take off the gloves and hold the knife. What ever you've got to do will have to wait", he knew that there was something not human about her.
"I want the truth right now. What are you Alexis London, the night I happen to get "accidentally" drugged my truck is vandalized and very specific items are destroyed. If you don't give me the one hundred percent truth, then I'm gone and I'm not coming back", he took a knife from the cutlery drawer and slit it across his thumb. He watched as blood began to bubble from the cut and roll down into his palm. Now he'd be able to find out what she was, if she was a vampire he might be in a bit of trouble if she went after him. If she was a demon he'd be worse off.

There was no effective way to get around this situation. She was effectively screwed.
Fcking hell. Alexis sighed. A burn by silver was better than other things. She laid the knife on the counter and began removing her gloves. That was when a scent she wouldn't have missed anywhere on this planet woke up every one of her senses.
Alexis looked up to see exactly what Jon had just done. Immediately, her hand flew up, covering her nose and mouth. Her teeth were already reacting. Her senses were still running on overload. If she didn't want to kill him, she had about two seconds to do something. Control was not something she was used to, and she had only one remaining option if she did not in fact want to kill Jon Brunner.
Alexis yanked open a drawer which was empty except for a wooden box. She opened the box with her free hand and extracted its contents. She kept one one syringe of dead man's blood just in case she mixed with an unruly vampire. She flipped the cap off with one hand.
Fighting her very last ounce of control, Alexis removed her hand from her mouth and stabbed the syringe into her arm. She pressed the top and watched as the red liquid vanished into her skin.
"Fck." The effect hit her immediately. Alexis sank down to the floor as her legs threatened to give out. Her head was spinning.
"Happy?" She gasped, turning her eyes to Jon. "Does this answer your question?"

Jon started laughing but it wasn't out of humor, it was the only reaction his body gave at what was happening.
"Of course, OF COURSE! I knew it, I bloody f*#&ing knew it! What the hell am I going to do with you? I should take your head off right now but I really don't want to", he pulled out the revolver and made sure a silver bullet was in the chamber. One half said shoot her but the other kept throwing memories of them at him. He paced back and forth unsure of what to do. He leaned against the wall and stared at the woman before him. Last night she was a gorgeous being that made him happier than he'd been lately and now she was a blood craving abomination from hell.
"What do you want me to do Alexis, I guess you know I'm a hunter otherwise you'd never have destroyed my supply of holy water and dead man's blood", he walked around behind her and held the pistol in his hand. With a click he popped open the cylinder and pulled out the silver shells with in. He lined them up on her counter and put the gun into the waistband of his pants. He knelt down in front of her and stared into her eyes, he ignored the fangs and stared into her as deeply as he could.
"I don't know if you'll live forever or if a hunter finds you but I will tell you it won't be me", he kissed her on the forehead as a tear rolled off his face.
"Who knows maybe one day I'll change my mind about hunting and come back so you can turn me, then we can enjoy our eternal nightlife together. Until that time if it ever comes, we'll always be on opposite sides of the battle but know this. I may not be able to forgive you the next time."

Alexis let her eyes fall shut. She'd never been injected and this was a fate worse than death. If he had intentions of killing her, she wished he'd get on with it.
"Do it if you want, I can't fight you." She was so incredibly dizzy. Her strength wasn't going to hold out much longer either.
"I didn't touch your stuff. I had absolutely no idea you were a hunter until after you were asleep. But I do know who did. And it wasn't a vampire. You really think I'm scared of holy water? Your cross didn't have too much of an affect on me."
She heard the click of his gun and didn't want to waist the energy to turn and see what he was doing. But as he knelt down in front of her, Alexis felt tears rising in her eyes.
"I could have killed you-but I didn't. If you don't want to extend me the same deal, fine. It's not a huge loss to me."
Her eyes closed when his lips touched her forehead. It would most likely be the last time he actually touched her unless it was to kill her.
"Don't go yet." She whispered, raising one hand to close over his. "You need to hear me out. I'll tell you everything."

Jon was conflicted as she grabbed his hand, he wanted to rip it away and yell at her but still he wanted to scoop her up and hold her close. In the end he merely slipped his fingers from hers and took a step away.
"Know this, I have no reason to do need anything from you. You may as well have torn out my throat in my sleep so I don't have to suffer the betrayal I'm feeling. I'll listen to what you say but it probably won't change anything", he helped her into a chair so she wasn't on her knees. He couldn't bear to watch her grovel on the floor and gae her some dignity. He moved back to lean on the counter.
"Let's hear what this is about, I may already know some things but I want to hear what you have to say first."

Alexis didn't really want him touching her unless it was to kill her. She knew there had been no way she could have told him the truth to begin with. She shouldn't for bad about, but she did. But still, she fought the urge to throw his hands off when he moved her to the chair.
"I'm not exactly sure how I managed to betray you." She blinked her eyes to try and focus them on him. "I didn't lie....exactly. I just left out some information. I really was born in Hungry, lived in London and Paris. All of that's true, so is the business that I do. None of my business associates know what I am. I've become good at lying about it. I have an ugly family history that isn't worth getting into unless your dying to hear it."
Alexis rubbed her eyes. She was so weak she wanted to faint. Actually, she was probably getting very close to it.
"I couldn't tell you I was a vampire, and you know that as much as I do. I also can't deny that I put the medicine into your drink intentionally. It was to keep you asleep...in case anything happened. I didn't want you to find out until I could tell you...."
She really wanted to faint. Her eyes were getting heavy and she had to force them open.
"After you were asleep, I saw there was demon outside. I know him, he came in here a few days ago. I went down to find out why he was here, what he wanted....he's the one that went through your truck....destroyed the items."
She really wished he'd just kill her and get it over with.
"I never wanted to hurt you-in any way. I was going to tell you...eventually....after...." Her words broke off as exhaustion took over.

Jon knew he was being unfair but he didn't know what to feel about this. He wasn't supposed to care about her but he wanted nothing more than to take care of her. He watched as the dead man's blood began to weaken her.
"I guess I should've mentioned what I was but it wasn't exactly as life threatening as this now was it? You could have torn me into bits and all I had was a tiny cross."
He watched as Alexis began to sway in the chair, he couldn't imagine what the blood was doing to her.
"Demon? That was here before?"
Now that was something he hadn't heard of before. Since when did demons and vamps have get togethers? He'd see if anyone else had ever heard of anything like that yet. He watched her as she swayed once more and the drug finally knocked her out. He moved forward and picked her up out of the chair to lay her temporarily on the sofa. He knew she'd be mad but he wanted to change the sheets before he laid her down in bed.
He found some extra sheets inside of her closet and switched them with the ones they'd been together on from the night before. He folded them up and put them in a clothing hamper. Jon walked back out to see Alexis lying on the couch looking for all the world like she was asleep. He scooped her up gracefully and held her close before carrying her bridal style to her bed. He got some wet washcloths and began to wipe the makeup off of her face so it didn't stain her bed while she slept. The whole time he was talking to her about everything.
"I don't know if you'll remember this but I'm sorry for all this, I wish I could go and take it all back but I guess what's done is done. Maybe one day we can forgive each other even though I have no reason to hold anything against you. I guess it's why we got along so well, we're two of a small group of creatures that know the truth of our world. Somehow fate saw to bring us together but I guess it was for nothing. Maybe we can get past this one day."
