Alexis walked from the back room of her boutique, through the room which contained rack after rack of accessories, and into the store's main room. Immediately, her gaze fell on a purple patent leather handbag which was clearly out of place. In one move, she had scooped up the offending object and neatly placed it on a small glass top table next to a black leather sofa. The speed that came with being a vampire had its advantages. It made tidying up a breeze.
Folding her arms, she crossed the room and looked out of the window. The branches from the large tree that grew in front of her shop blocked out the light. But today, that wasn't such a huge concern since it was raining anyway. Nevertheless, Alexis closed the wooden blinds, taking away any chance a stray beam of light might seep into the room. Then she busied herself with lighting the dozens of candles and inscense which were set about the room.
Alexis examined her work. The room was dark enough for her to feel comfortable, but probably too dark for the average human. She flipped on a few small table lamps for their benefit. As she did, Alexis noticed blood under her fingernails. Apparently she hadn't cleaned up as well as she thought she had last night.
Alexis licked the blood from under her fingernails as she strolled towards the shop's main door. Glancing outside, she saw that a few shoppers were beginning to wander about the streets. Perfect time. Alexis flipped her sign from "closed" to "open" before returning to the back room to erase any evidence that a man's dead body was in the bathtub of her upstairs apartment.

Lenore hated moving around in the daytime, but a rather nasty fire in her motel room had burned most of her possessions. She had taken pleasure in sending that demon back to the bowels of hell.
The vampire glanced at a rather upscale looking shop from underneath the brim of her hoodie. She bought most of her clothes from Goodwill, but it never hurt to have something nice for special occasions.

Alexis finished cleaning up the blood. Her mortal mother had taught her well. Alexis kept certain jars bottled and sealed in an upstairs cabinet. The rest of it she'd used for bathing just after the man's death. Now she poured a jar into a fancy silver travel coffee mug, secured the handle, and returned to the shop.
A shadow outside caught her eye. Alexis stepped forward. Leaning to the window, she glanced out. A woman stood outside. Alexis smiled.
The woman intrigued her. There was something...different about her.
"Come on in." Alexis pushed the door open, holding it for the woman. "We're open. Come take a look."

After hearing the owner's welcome, Lenore stepped into the shop and lowered the hood of her sweatshirt. She did not lower her guard however, the woman's voice had left a slightly oily impression. The vampire took a deep breath, and held it suddenly. There was something slightly off about the smell of the shop.
Oh God, please don't let it be supernatural off, I just need to buy some clothes.

For the moment, Alexis forgot her vampire skills and frowned at the girl's appearance.
"Well, that's a sad look." She frowned, circling the girl to examine her clothes. "You've certainly come to the right place."
Alexis turned from the girl, beckoning to the shop with the hand that didn't hold her "coffee" mug.
"Feel free to look around. Ask any questions, try anything you like on. I'm more than happy to help you."
She held out her hand to the young woman.
"My name is Alexis. If you'd like, I'm happy to suggest some things. Purple is very popular this fall." She strolled to a rack, pulling a deep purple cardigan off.
Alexis glanced over her shoulder to see if the girl was paying attention. Certainly, this was a very unique young woman. But she still hadn't quite placed what it was that made her so different.

Lenore tried not to take offense to the woman's comment. Her outfit was rather well worn and shabby, especially when compared to the rest of the shop.
The vampire was slightly taken back by the woman's friendliness, she didn't know why.
"Lenore," she said by way of introduction. Then turned her attention to the garment in the woman's hands. Even when she was alive, Lenore had been out of touch with fashion, preferring cheaper more practical clothes to the fancier city styles.
"Can't remember the last time I wore purple."

Alexis nodded thoughtfully. Lenore. Well then.
"Nice to meet you." Alexis ignored the girl's comments and threw the sweater into her hands. "Try it on. See how you like it. And then....."
Alexis walked to a rack of jeans on the back wall, grabbing several pairs. As she did, she cast a quick glance over her shoulder at the other woman. What was it about her? Normally, Alexis would have wanted nothing other than to collect her blood....but something told her she didn't want this girl's blood. But why was it so hard to place?
"Coffee?" Alexis draped the jeans over the girl's shoulder. "Tea perhaps?"

Lenore accepted the clothes Alexis picked out for her and headed to a changing room. She carefully considered how to answer the shop owner's offer of refreshment. It would be rude to refuse, but Lenore doubted the woman had a pint of cow's blood in the fridge.
"Coffee would be great, thanks."
Carefully she tried on the sweater and pants, then stepped to see herself in the mirror.

Alexis wrinkled her nose at the very concept of coffee. But she went to the back room and retrieved a cup, picking up a canister of powered creamer and sugar at the same time.
"Here you are." She set the items down on the table and strolled over to where the girl stood. "There, doesn't that look 100% better than what you had on before?"
She pulled the girl's hair back over her shoulders, smoothing it down her back.

Lenore had to admit that the clothes did look good on her (even if the sweater was a little purple), she also noted that the woman's hands were oddly cold for someone who had been handling hot drinks.
Stop it she told herself you're just being paranoid
The vampire wished the incense weren't so heavy, she would feel more comfortable if she could get a better hold on the Alexis's scent.

The girl's skin was so wonderfully pale too....it was almost..... Alexis raised a suspicious eyebrow. Surely the girl couldn't be....
"You have such a lovely, strange complexion, sweetie. This color suites you so-." Alexis froze as her hand made contact with the girl's cheek. It was so cold. Cold...and pale. She took a step back, eyeing the girl. It could be that she was......
"Dark colors set off pale complexions so nicely." Alexis took a step back, meeting the girl's eyes in the mirror. "I suppose that's why vampires wear black."

Lenore forced herself to remain calm, she had been in worse situations before, much worse. She could handle a fellow vampire.
"I prefer brown myself, it never seems to go out of fashion. The eighties must have been hard for you. All those bad clothes."

Alexis smirked and folded her arms over her chest. She was always pleased to meet another vampire.
"Lovely to meet one of my own." She smiled as she took a seat on the sofa. "And if it's brown you like, take your pick." She motioned about the room with one hand. "Although I think purple is far better on you."
She crossed her legs and leaned back, tossing back her hair.
"If I see another pair of leg warmers in my life, or anything that happens to fall off the shoulder, I will burn myself alive." Alexis smiled.
"So, what brings you to this part of the city? Not many of us go wandering about here, unless we've a purpose."

Pat Owen stood outside of a clothing boutique. He could sense that there were vampires near.
Fangs. Always wasting space...well I guess there are better than humans.
Pat stepped into the boutique, his eyes flashing black for a moment, but then returning to normal. All he saw were two women. But none the less he knew what they were and knew that he would have to be cautious.

Lenore decided that a vague answer would be the best course of action.
"Oh, I'm in town on business."
The ringing of the entry bell caught her attention, and ff Lenore hadn't had so many recent brushes with demons, she would have passed off the flash of black eyes as a trick off the light.
Forget Gordon, this encounter might just take the cake
